Your filming experience is the same as the average hunter or fisherman's plans. Sometimes things go sideways, and you make do. You still get an experience....and you learn to adapt. Great video!
One tip to keep your feet warmer sleeping in cold weather: place a sweatshirt or blanket or something in the bottom of your bag to fill up the dead space by your feet. That way your feet have less air they need to warm up.
I have always wanted to do this. I would have used lights shining in the water to attract small fish, which attracts BIG fish . We didn't have good ice this year, so I didn't get out much.

I've done it on Rio dam in the narrows . we use big lights after an hour, thousands of minnows come up and swim in a circle we jig inside the school and catch some really nice big trout many are over ten pounds and over 30 inches long .

Man, I don't know how you do it. You go fishing and never catch fish. You cook and something usually goes wrong and you don't have a full meal. You call it a dead see but we all know there are fish there, you just have to work to find them. I appreciate the perseverance but you get out what you put in.
