  • KAMALA HARRIS RUNNING MATE: "He's a normal guy" What speaks for Tim Walz as US Vice President?
The US Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, and her newly nominated vice-candidate Tim Walz are already on the campaign trail through the contested swing states in the USA. Tim Walz has targeted his political opponent and described him and the Republican couple Donald Trump and JD Vance as deceitful and elitist. Trump countered by calling Harris and Walz the supposedly most left-wing radical duo ever. Despite these attacks, Harris seems to have done a lot right with the choice of her vice-president.
Kamala Harris only entered the race for the Democrats around two weeks ago. She appointed her vice president just a few hours before her appearance in Philadelphia, in a conversation that she staged for social media. The 60-year-old Walz has been governor of the state of Minnesota for five years and previously served for a long time as a representative in the House of Representatives. He is considered to be close to the people and assertive.
In an interview, Jörg Wimalasena, political correspondent at WELT, explains what speaks for Tim Walz as a running mate. "Tim Walz is a normal guy. He goes hunting, hangs out at folk festivals and makes funny TikToks with his daughter. He is the opposite of Kamala Harris, who is said to be part of the Washington elite."
