This Is WHY 2024 Chevrolet Trax Is So CHEAP!!

  • The 2024 Trax represents Chevrolet's entry into the lower end of the U.S. car market. With its improved design, it now holds the title as Chevy's most affordable vehicle in America. Chevy is aiming to win over first-time buyers and build lasting customer loyalty. The previous version faced challenges in making a strong case for the brand, but the second-generation Trax is determined to change that narrative.
2024 Chevrolet Trax: New Design, New Engine
The 2024 Trax is a complete departure from its predecessor, sharing little in common except for the nameplate. While the previous Chevy Trax was based on the Buick Encore, the new model takes inspiration from the Buick Envista. The Envista, which also goes by the name Chevy Seeker in China, made its debut in 2022 and has been in production in South Korea. This shift in platform promises exciting changes and improvements for the upcoming Trax model.
The Buick Envista and its Chevy counterparts share the same GM platform, the VSS-F. This platform is also utilized by the Chevy Trailblazer. Interestingly, the new Trax exhibits a striking resemblance to the larger Chevy Blazer, and the designers proudly emphasized this family resemblance. Gone is the previous "egg on wheels" appearance, replaced with a more dynamic and active look. While the top-spec Trax Activ trim embraces this design direction, the lower LS, 1RS, LT, and 2RS models also boast an appealing and attractive appearance.
In comparison to its predecessor, the new Trax sits four inches lower, a change that Chevrolet claims enhances its handling capabilities. Additionally, the crossover features a six-inch longer wheelbase, an 11-inch increase in overall length, and a two-inch wider body. These dimensional changes contribute to the Trax's improved performance and spaciousness.
Significant changes also extend to the Trax's engine bay, housing a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine generating 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. Notably, this engine features one less cylinder than the outgoing Trax's 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which produced 155 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. All 2024 Trax models will be equipped with the same engine, coupled exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission. Interestingly, despite being a crossover, the Trax is offered only with front-wheel drive configuration.
Despite the smaller engine, the new Trax accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour faster than before, and fuel economy has been improved. The Trax now achieves up to 28 miles per gallon in the city, 32 mpg on the highway, and up to 30 mpg combined-an impressive 4 mpg increase in the city compared to the old model.
    2024 Chevrolet Trax: Interior Impressions
You're familiar with the routine in modern cars: Get in, buckle up, and connect your USB cable to start Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Many cars now support wireless CarPlay or Android Auto with inductive charging for convenience, and the Chevy Trax is no exception. Simply place your phone on the wireless charging pad, and you're good to go. As someone who values audio quality and prefers hardwired connections, I still opt to plug in when given the choice.
The native interface in the Chevy Trax is functional, though it may not be the most exciting. However, the screen's information layout and the physical controls for HVAC and other functions are excellent. Apple CarPlay works as expected, and the center screen is angled towards the driver for easy access. While most buttons and dials are logically arranged, I found it hard to get used to the volume knob's placement, which also doubles as the power button.
The volume knob in the Chevy Trax is small and blends with the glossy black finish of the screen, making it difficult to see and locate easily. Reaching for it while driving can be distracting as it takes your eyes off the road. However, over time, owners may become accustomed to its placement.
In terms of interior fit and finish, the Trax meets the expectations of a modern entry-level car, and surprisingly, it feels nicer than one might expect. Despite being at the bottom of Chevy's lineup, the Trax doesn't feel cheap and offers a satisfactory level of quality.
    2024 Chevrolet Trax: Price
The Chevy Trax offers a range of trims and pricing options. The base model LS starts at $21,495, while higher trims can go up to approximately $27,500 with additional options. The uppermost trims, Trax 2RS and Trax Activ, both start at $24,995. They share standard features and driver-assistance technologies, but sport different looks to cater to various preferences. The Trax Activ's color-matched front end is particularly appealing to me.

Motor, turbo timing belt are the three things. Drive sensible, change the oil every 4-5000 Miles, let it warn up and cool down. Watch and see when the timing belts start failing. I have heard Replace it every 40000 miles. This seems excessive. Would change it just before the drive train warranty expired and note the ware on it. It it looks good take the new one to 80 90000 miles

GM has been building these engines for over 4 years and they've been holding up well. I'm sure there are some high mileage examples out there by now and I haven't heard of any issues. The factory warranty could be better and would give new owners peace of mind. Still, it looks to be a great vehicle.
