    Hello sir
    I'm John Chan the fisherman at 53 yr old. A pre-diabetes individual, I have been taking a moringa pills every night.
    Bought a house in tampa bay area about a year ago. I got two moringa trees growing in my backyard.
    Enjoyed your video, thanks bro.

    truly a magical tree, ive been working with Moringa oleifera in ocala and chiefland florida. loving the greens and flowers. in grenada they call it the "never die tree". as even if they are cut back to the ground they come back again and again. so giving!

    • @EatYourBackyard
      @EatYourBackyard  2 года назад

      Totally agree with the magic! I have been struggling to keep up shoveling up all the pixie dust that thing generates. I sprinkle it mostly on my bunnies, they like that. Also it helps to improve meditation in my Zen Bunny run. Hope you sub Earthing Drew.

    Do not underestimate the height and thickness this tree can grow in a very short time! Ian gave mine a good trim, and I’m going to take more off. Plus had so many pods and many were way too high to reach!

    i also just harvested a 15 foot tree and chopped it into cuttings, i placed them in a 5 gal bucket with plenty of drainage and the medium iused was cactus potting mix with a hefty layer on top of perlite, my cuttings are about a 9 inches in length but has a diameter of about 4 inches, ive been told they secrete natural rooting hormone but i went ahead and used some to be safe, cant wait to see how they grow.

      I have one that I'm growing and I cant kill it. I literally took a pruned branch from my older tree and shoved it in the dirt with 0 amendments. Its growing like a weed.

    I wonder what he's gonna say. In my experience get a seed or cutting and get it even close to dirt and it will start growing, try cutting it down and it will multiply, the cuttings will sprout new leaves even without dirt or water but die if they don't find any. The plant really just grows itself once you introduce it.

      @@EatYourBackyard Probably useful to someone new to it. Here's a useful tip for someone who plans on growing things like this for years to come. Instead of trimming a Moringa short to make it bushy, let it grow tall and develop it's fully developed textured bark. Only prune this Moringa no lower than the height you want your dragon fruit to sprawl out at onto the side branches, use the pruned sections as new cuttings to plant. Once there's mature bark developing at the base and climbing upward, get yourself a dragon fruit cutting and plant it at the base mulching with dead leaves. Train the dragon fruit to grow up the Morringa trunk and it's roots will attach themselves to the mature bark and thrive, you now have a living dragon fruit trellis. The tall height of the tree and the small leaves hardly shade the dragon fruit and the dropping leaves help to fertilize it. As you prune off side growths off the dragon fruit to encourage it to grow up the tree, plant them at the base of the Morringa cuttings you plant, you now have a symbiotic double nursery.

    • @EatYourBackyard

      That is an incredible idea, I may do that. I do that with a sea grape in my front yard, have Dragon Fruit using it as a trellis. Here is an OLD video I made that shows it ruclips.net/video/pSB8YHlZuEk/видео.html

    Just chopped my Moringas, harvested the leaves and started like 20 cuttings. Also considering cutting them down to ground level cause winter is right around the corner, let's see what happens. Ifin they crap out I should have some cuttings to take their place. Gonna heap a deep mulch over the stumps and see what comes up in the spring. Last year I topped them and slid a pool noodle down over the truck which worked fairly well. Only draw back is that when you can uncover them (Florida winters = winter at night and summer in the afternoon, go figure), they tend to re-sprout and you rub off the new growth when you slid the noodle back in place. But, kept them alive fo sho, good hack. 😎👍💥🌱

    I’m not fond of the leaves but I’m wondering if chickens like them? Might be a good fodder tree!

    • @nancyfahey7518
      @nancyfahey7518 2 года назад

      My chickens won't touch it. When I make a blender shake with the fresh leaves my body loves it. When I use the powder from the health food store I get intestinal upset with the hershey squirts. A little bit of psyllium husk helps. None of this makes sense to me.
