One of my favourite icon in history..KING BALDWIN IV, who ruled with kindness & justice but still remain a brilliant military genius. He has a great respect to Salahudin and ISLAM. He maintain peace during his reigns.

@@Ms.VeronicaMarie I've addressed Alexander as an epithet for Baldwin IV's sayings and overall story. There's something called figurative language, metaphor and philosophy. Thanks for the correction and making such videos.

Read William of Tyre...not some movie script. You will delete this afterwards.

This is not from a movie script, it is from several different books and articles on Baldwin. What exactly did I get wrong, because I have done plenty of research on Baldwin IV. I have event visited his tomb in Jerusalem.

@@Ms.VeronicaMarie Read William of Tyre's Deeds done Beyond the Sea. You can get the PDF from archive.org. Also go to Real Crusades and view a few videos. They have some good podcasts on the 1st through 3rd crusades and a multi-part series on what is historically incorrect about the movie Kingdom of Heaven.
Baldwin V was crowned before Baldwin IV died in effort to stop Guy Lusignan from becoming King.
The Real Crusades also has some great reading lists. Christian and Saracen sources. Reading several myself. Expensive habit.

@@doylekitchen9795 I am aware Baldwin V was named king and heir apparent weeks before his uncle passed. However, the formal crowning ceremony took place after the death of Baldwin IV, as a coronation could not take place while Baldwin IV still lived and had not abdicated.
As for real Crusades history, I have seen many of their videos, but did not find their research on Baldwin IV to be completely accurate, which is why I have done months of research on my own, digging into articles, combing through old history books etc... However, they do have many interesting topics.
I am also aware how inaccurate the movie is, but it is the only film to showcase the leper king, which is why I used it.
Lastly, what exactly did I get wrong with the facts on Baldwin IV?

    • @doylekitchen9795

@@Ms.VeronicaMarie Battle of Montgisard. Not Battle of Ascalon.
Saladin broke the treaty first. Renauld was not punished as depicted in KoH. Baldwin liked Renauld...he did his dirty work.
Baldwin V was a co-king with Baldwin IV starting in 1183. This lasted 2 years before Baldwin IV died. I believe you are referring to the crown wearing ceremony that happened a few weeks before Baldwin IV's death.
I am using the book I mentioned before for most of this.
Check out the book of archiver.org. Sign up and download...it will save you $1,200 which is what Amazon wants for it.

@@doylekitchen9795 Every book I have read stated that one of his most noted victories was the Battle of Ascalon, in which he defeated several thousand Turks on a dry river bank. This is just one of many incredible battles he fought. Baldwin’s first victory was actually the battle of Damascus a few months into his reign. It is also when news of his disease was made public.
I have never seen any record or mention of Baldwin V being crowned co-king in 1183, since such a title never existed at the time. He was named heir apparent in Baldwin’s will in 1183, shortly after Baldwin IV found out about his sisters unapproved marriage. This was also the year that after a viscous battle, the king was assumed dead, and the counts and nobles attempted to make the young prince king, naming count Raymond as regent. Thankfully, Baldwin did not die, and any thought of crowing his nephew was put to rest.
I will agree to disagree on who was the first to break the treaty, as many historians have merely speculated on whether it was Saladin or Renauld who actually drew first blood. However, I am very certain that Baldwin NEVER LIKED OR EVEN RESPECTED Renauld. He tolerated him for several reasons. To name a few: one, he was a good fighter and brilliant strategist. Two: Renauld’s son was married to his half sister, Princess Isabella (who would later rule Jerusalem from 1190 to 1205). And Three: Renauld’s fortress was a stronghold that helped protect a large part of the Outremer.

BrainZapz all the history I have read about Baldwin has stated that he did want to achieve peace. As for expanding, he did want pilgrims to be able to travel to Muslim occupied cities, such as Damascus, which was under the control of Saladin, without the fear of being killed.
