    When it comes to Nerf, and other things that society would say is a no-no for legal adults, I subscribe to this philosophy I heard a RUclipsr called TJOmega say: There is no age limit on fun. If you have fun with something, you should never let another person tell you that you're too old for it.

    I chose Nerf because Airsoft is illegal in my country and I can't even find any paintball sites in my country (they're legal)
    Nerf has cheaper products while airsoft maintains a realistic look during games.

    Interesting comments. I never thought I would hear Nerf compared to airsoft and paintball. Being that I'm 40 (almost double your age) I'll provide my thoughts on the topic. I sold my Tippman A5 with upgrades to purchase an airsoft M4 and pistol. My son has been randomly buying Nerf since he was old enough to pull the cocking mechanism back, but I never gave it much thought. It wasn't until "Dart Warz" opened up in our local town that Nerf even crossed my mind. At that point, price comes into play. Nerf is WAY cheaper. I spent over $300 on my A5 and around $250 for my M4 and pistol. If you spend $99 on Nerf, you are buying top of the line. Heck, $50 may be top of the line, depending on the series you are into. For us, we don't have to worry about darts or discs because they are provided by the facility. If I had to buy good loadouts for 4 people for airsoft or paintball, I'd be broke. With Nerf, I can pick up 4 CS-18's for $160 (even less when on sale) and be competitive. Well, competitive being anything that shoots more than one shot at a time. The free rentals are complete garbage and the cost to upgrade is so expensive, you'd be better off putting that money toward buying the blaster.
    The next big thing for us is age. My kids are 8 and 10. I doubt my daughter will ever want to play airsoft or paintball because it hurts. And even if she did, I'd have to wait another 5+ years. With Nerf, the entire family can go out and play today (including my wife!).
    Now, I have the excuse that I'm a father playing with his kids. I can't see myself and a bunch of 40 year olds playing Nerf in the park, it just wouldn't happen. But my wife and I chasing our two kids around in the park.. Totally...

    I like paintball because of range, accuracy, hit confirmation, powerful feel to the guns, and the force behind the projectiles adds a psychological aspect to it. However, the guns and ammo are costly and getting overpowered is no fun (and this will happen often because you are most of the time restricted to your local fields if there are any). Nerf has good weapon variety at a low cost (I do have quite a bit of nerf stuff) but they break and jam easy (most of mine are broken or operating below standard). Plus you are very vulnerable when reloading since you are playing in close quarters due to low range. Although you CAN play it anywhere, I have trouble finding/making a good area where there is a lot of cover and space to move (homes and hotel rooms are too linear). I haven't gotten too far into airsoft but I would like to get back into it. I just don't want to be outgunned though like in paintball.

    airsoft is fun for indoor target practice but most fields seem to only support tight groups of milsim players instead of casual fun. Paintball is to expensive for regular play imo but sounds like you might have a better time playing casually. Like a lot of cool hobbies you are limited by where to play and the community.
    Nerf is great because you can goof around in the house or yard without upsetting the neighbors. if their new rival line is good it might be about the closest you can get to playing paintball at home. Fun for all ages and it baffles me that people would rather play cod.

    I believe that nerf is for people who don't want to spend a lot of money and are just trying to have fun. The people who say that airsoft is better and we need to man up can do what they want. Because airsoft, paintball, and nerf are for fun and it is not like any of them will take very far in life. But we can make memories with all of them.

    nerf can be played year round, indoors or outdoors. If you play paintball in the winter, you have to play it outside, and it really stings when it's cold.

    • @ryanbrown4094
      @ryanbrown4094 9 лет назад

      Paintball and airsoft both sting, but that's because the projectiles go fast and far -- something that makes Nerf a lot worse. The fact that I can dodge Nerf bullets when my younger neighbors want to play is horrible.
      Airsoft is far more realistic and it's in the middle as far as price goes. It has been proven that Nerf darts get worn down over time so BB's are more cost effective as well.
      Unless you live in an apartment building or something, airsoft and paintball are far better, it's just down to the pain and the price.

    • @JoeyplaysgamesLoL
      @JoeyplaysgamesLoL 9 лет назад

      Ryan Brown Realism is not the most important thing. If you want realism join the fucking army you pansey. Nerf is fun for all ages and can sting if you have a modded blaster and shoot at short range. I have both airsoft and nerf and enjoy them both but I think cost and fun is more important than realism. Also you recover nerf darts you can't recover bb's.

    • @ryanbrown4094
      @ryanbrown4094 9 лет назад

      Joeyplaysgames Realism isn't the most important thing in your eyes, to a lot of other people it's a reenactment of war. I plan to join the army when I'm at the age. It's a matter of personal preference and if you can't find that you're stupid. If you want to stay at a low price and enjoy how Nerf plays than that's fine. And as far as pain, it doesn't matter, getting shot by something that stings doesn't make you a bad ass. I would love if airsoft didn't hurt but personally it doesn't really matter for my preference. Not to sound like an airsoft elitist fag, but I'm sure a modded Nerf blaster doesn't hurt as much as an airsoft gun.
      And for recovery of Nerf darts,as I said in my previous comment, Nerf darts get worn down over time and it's proven, especially from modded blasters just because of the impact on the cheap foam. It adds up. Airsoft guns are completely different and you can't compare the ammo - airsoft bb's are made of plastic and are going at speeds of 320+ FPS, half the time hitting a pack of dirt or a tree, made of wood obviously, and the other half
      hitting a human. No matter what it hits it experiences some form of corrosion, and because of how airsoft guns and the shooting mechanisms work, it's generally not the safest to reuse them.
      It's not comparable. All I was saying was the pros airsoft and paintball had over nerf. No need to get all pissy.

    I think most trolls forget that way back in the day someone designed and built the first nerf gun, and I bet that it wasn't a ten year old who came up with it. Most things like toys are designed by adults, look at models or even radio control. Most would think they are toys but not too many kids can drop $500-$1000 dollars building a nitro powered rc car. I am an adult and have many hobbies that people think are for kids, look at the new blasters that nerf has come up with, how many kids have a spare $80-$100 dollars lying around.

However, paint is 60 bucks at the field and I have heard the Canadians have 150 for a case. I don't have a job yet so I can't play paintball as frequent as I want to. But I think all of the three hobbies have their pros and their cons. And not to stir up a argument, I feel that air soft is easier to cheat because you can't see the markings. Also, they have reballs in paintball that are rubber and are reusable. Great video coop!

    I'm from Brazil and one of my friends says: Nerf is ridiculous get into airsoft. But in Brazil airsot is only for people that are +18 and heve the autorization(I think that's right) of the army, and a stryfe is 150 Reals and the cheaper airsoft is about 1500 Reals

    This video was recommended to me, somehow. Interesting time capsule! Things sure have changed when it comes to public perception of nerfing. I haven't encountered anyone who has displayed the attitude of me being too old to collect blasters. Friends, family, coworkers all think it's neat. Perhaps because public perception of general nerding out has changed so much.
    I'll assume Coop still gets those haters in his comments. But I'm fairly certain that most of his haters are hating for something completely different. Like bashing Ultra. You're wrong, Coop!

    Nobody plays Nerf around my residence, and I'm too poor to get into airsoft or paintball. So, I buy a whole bunch of Nerf, especially spring blasters, 'cause working the action is fun and I can safely shoot them at home. Flywheels are for practical use, like actual wars.

    People who play air soft make me mad because they act like they’re all tough and wear all this tactical stuff and act like they are in the army but if they were in the army they’d pee their pants and quit. I’m not saying I’d join the army but I don’t act like I’m in it In the 1st place

    The last point is something I think I needed to hear. I started to kinda hide the fact that I really fucking like Yugioh as I got older because people (Magic players especially) were telling me that I'm too old for children's card games. I never saw it as something FOR kids, but rather accessible enough for them.
    As for a relevant point, I honestly have no business really watching your channel since I am an enthusiast of none of these hobbies. It's just...kinda impossible right now. I just like your channel, but personally I think if it were a possibility, I'd pick airsoft since you say modding is simpler. That's what pushes me from Nerf, you HAVE to do heavy duty modding to be competitive. :C

    Nerf is way easier to get into in Australia as you need a gun licence to get a paint ball gun and airsoft is just plain illegal so nerf wins but they are seen as just toys so their really is no scene. Oh well my main interest is really just modifying blasters anyway.
    If I had a choice I would go with paintball due to trust issues with airsoft.
    BTW you forgot the forth option: laser tag
