Fordingbridge to Salisbury by Train

- A Train Simulator film of the journey by train from Fordingbridge on the long closed L&SWR branch line to Salisbury in Wiltshire. Loosely based in the early 1960's the course of the line and bridges and crossings have been accurately placed although there is some artistic licence as a lot has changed over the the years, and most of the information has come from old ordnance survey maps from around 1914! Anyway it gives a flavour of the line in the Avon Valley and across the fields south of Salisbury Plain. Best viewed on a BIG screen with the sound up high. Enjoy all 18 minutes.

Absolutely brilliant Ben. I lived In Hyde from 1958 to 1966 and sometimes went by train from Fordingbridge to school in Salisbury. This is so realistic and has brought back some fond memories. Thank you.

Superb video and route I actually lived on the "line" in the 1970's south of Downton when they had demolished the embankment and built new houses at the end of a housing close. Brings back wonderful memories of the time when we had our first child, so thank you Ben🙂
Absolutely brilliant amazing graphics stayed at the railway Inn very nice friendly people now I know where the station was in relation to the Inn

This is so beautiful. Much love has gone into the making of this masterpiece. The music is so evocative (especially the wistful piece for oboe at the beginning). I was born in Bournemouth in 1957, but never got to travel on the train to Salisbury. However, I do remember visiting the derelict station at Breamore when I was a teenager. How good to know that it has been lovingly restored.

Brilliantly done Ben. Great attention to detail and plenty of AI passing trains. I know how long it takes to create something like that. I once had TS and got great enjoyment in creating routes . Nowadays i have a laptop which is not powerful enough to run the simulator and I really miss tnose days.
This is a great video, thanks for the upload. I walked this route yesterday and it puts a new angle on it! The Downton tunnel is no more.
Thanks. Looking on Google Earth you can just make out a change in the colour of the ground where the tunnel approach cuttings were.
Just today I was thinking about attempting to make this route (with no prior route making skills) and then I see this! Just incredible stuff

@@TheOpenBoatDAFFODIL I've managed to track down most of the required dlcs and extra scenery packs to run this, and after a wee bit of tinkering I've got it up and going. This is a childhood dream, can't say thank you enough.
**edit** quick drives always start with an error that I'm not loading hh ssyims wagon and mr van wr brake, I can get past this by going into the scenario edit and then play, but wondered what I'm missing?

@TIMELORD327 I'm in America at the moment. The link to the file should still work, it's at the bottom of the video description. If you get an error when it loads. Press F2, then save. It should work then? I'll try and edit out the problem, when I return in a few weeks.
thank you for making this, live next to Downton and been fascinated at how the old railway operated around here, shame there is essentially nothing left of it now although I hear the platform is in someone's back garden

Thanks, I'm currently working on my epic Vale of Neath Railway route! But one day it would be nice to recreate the line South from Fordingbridge.

I'm having an issue with this route. I have the AP Station Pack but none of the stations are showing for me. It says in TS Tools something about AP Station Pack SR repaints, where are they?
