A genius actor of 20th century. Burt swept his screen presence with such grace, suave and humility. Respect galore, an actor and a gentleman, Burt Lancaster.
Lancaster made so many great movies! There must be a part 2! The Rainmaker, The Professionals, Vera Cruz, The Unforgiven, Valdez is Coming, The Scalp Hunters just to name a few!
Thank you for bringing to light such lesser known but great performances of Burt's, such as in The Swimmer and The Leopard. Burt carried with him a powerful presence, such as few other actors ever commanded. His performances in Elmer Gantry and Sweet Smell of Success testify to this. I just don't see any actors today talented though they may be, evoking this same power of both command and vulnerability....
If I would rank Lancaster films no particular order except the first two. 1: Vera Cruz 2: Field of Dreams 3: Gunfight At OK Corral. 4: Trapeze 5: Birdman of Alcatraz. 6: The Rose Tattoo 7: From Here To Eternity. 8: Jim Thorpe All-American 9: Sorry Wrong Number: He was evil 10: Ten Tall Men: I just liked it.
With three exceptions, I saw and liked your choices. The one I didn't see I can't say one way or the other. However, you showed more of the first one, The Swimmer, than all the others, which I did not like. You could have given each about equal time.
The Swimmer and The Hallelujah Trail were his worst films. I gave The Hallelujah Trail 4 of 10 stars on IMDB and only rated it that high because of the Elmer Bernstein music.

A great talent I loved him in his westerns. I loved his role as The SimmerRIp
I never realized Lancaster and Frankenheimer made that many movies together.

'The Swimmer' was pure garbage. One of the worst movies I've ever seen.
