I have read Atonement and it was great. But, I don't usually say this - the movie was even better. That almost never happens. So I would highly recommend watching the 2007 adaptation with Keira Knightley, James McAvoy and Saoirse Ronan. It's brilliant and so heartbreaking.
❤📚📚❤️ Very interesting! The only book on my shelves that I haven't read is The Road. I've added Wolf Hall to my Goodreads. Thanks for the time you put into sharing.
At a quick glance, I've only read 22 but a number are on my TBR shelves. The list is an interesting mix of fiction and non-fiction. Some of those I've read are amongst my favourites, Cloud Atlas, Small Island, Half of a Yellow Sun, Underland, True History of the Kelly Gang, others were really good Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, Atonement, Fingersmith, This House of Grief, Wolf Hall. There's a few graphic novels there that are interesting and Two Australians that don't normally make these sorts of lists, particularly Helen Garner, who is a literary legend in Australia but not so much outside of Aus. Happy Reading.
Stories of Your Life and Others and Chang's Exhalation are 2 of my all time favorites. Jemisin's 5th Season I DNFd because the content is so difficult for me. I'm going to have to come back later to watch more.
Very interesting. Sadly I did most of my reading last century (where did the time go?), so I haven't gotten to these newer ones, though I own many. My favourite author on there might be Munro, but I haven't gotten to that particular collection yet. I enjoy Saunders too. Oh, and Pratchett. Oddly, he might be my most read author this century. Huh... 🤔 Anywho... Happy reading, whatever you pick next!
I’m sooo happy to see Signs Preceding the End of the World by Yuri Herrera on here! That book is so good and so underrated. I highly recommend it! And it’s short!
Only about 30 of these were after 2012, a date I had mentioned in an earlier comment about most good books being written before about 2012 - lol. Loved The Constant Gardener and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
The ones I've read 1 Goblet of fire 2 Coraline 3 Fifth Season 4 On Writing 5 The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time 6 The Plot Against America I like to carve my own path through literature, so I'm actually quite pleased at how few of them I've read.
@@Shellyish It was good I binged the whole series! I was thankful that I was warned the writing takes a bit of getting used to. I do mostly agree with Frasier that it's best taken as a whole, but there is a lot to like with the individual books too.

I’ll add both the movie and book to my list! Thank you!!!
I love that movie but it hurts me so much I've decided not to read the book
On the contrary I thought the book superior to the film.
A great book.
I love a "best of" book list and i haven't heard of a lot of these. Thank you!
You're so welcome!

Oh! Thanks for sharing some favorites and a bit about Helen Garner. Her name and book intrigued me as I was going through the list.
I am going to have to spend some time with this list to figure out what I have read and what I want to read.
I hope you enjoy!
We are not a quarter of the way into the 21st Century.... would the best books of the 20th century be published up to 1923?
I see your logic. They should've titled it "the best books of the 21st century so far" but they didn't.
have u ever read the moomin books? just subbed
I own a Moomin book, but haven't read it yet. :)

Thanks for sharing!! I'm still going back and forth with The 5th Season! :)

Thank you!! My favorite author on there is Mantel followed by Atkinson, I think!

Wonderful! I'll definitely check it out!
Atonement is one of my favorite books of all time. Randomly read it knowing nothing about it and when I tell you it CHANGED ME !!
7 brief lessons (66) by Rovelli was a small book, great read
Thank you Shelley!
Thank you!!

The Constant Gardner is living in my brain rent-free. I want to read it so badly!
The ones I've read
1 Goblet of fire
2 Coraline
3 Fifth Season
4 On Writing
5 The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time
6 The Plot Against America
I like to carve my own path through literature, so I'm actually quite pleased at how few of them I've read.
How did you like The Fifth Season! I’m ever so curious about that book. ☺️

Fingersmith is brilliant, you definitely should read it.
I'll definitely read it - soon!
I admit that I have read none of these books. I do have _Cloud Atlas,_ though, and want to read it, since I loved the movie.
Cloud Atlas is excellent!
Gone Girl is not really about the twist. It is a character study.
That's good to know!
This video is giving me Steve Donoghue vibes! 😁 (Because I recently watched one of his 100 nonfiction videos)
The highest words of praise!
Folio Society edition of Wolf Hall is awesome
I live! That’s amazing!!
Light (91) by Harrison was good
On Writing by Stephen King was good
My first time
:)
