Oilers, hands down. Fan or not it is hard not to see that Florida is exhausted from the travel and Edmonton’s speed. Edmonton’s star players have out performed Florida’s and when they haven’t shown up on the score sheet their depth players are contributing. The third line of Edmonton’s is playing at a second or maybe even a first line efficiency so if Connor and Leon decide to turn on the afterburners for game 7 it’s game over.

I definitely see Edmonton taking game 7. Not only the momentum is there but Edmonton has been an incredible team since November 13 when Knoblauch took over where they were 31st in the league. They went on a record 16 game streak and the longest in Canadian history. Hymen has been a demon. I think they broke Bobrosky in game 4.

Its pretty simple, the panthers just can't stop the Oilers on the rush. The Oilers have chosen to play fire with fire, and the Panthers' offense just can't keep up. I can't really blame Bob for this collapse; nearly every goal is the result of a defensive breakdown or an odd-man rush.

    • @SirVTropic

Well most goals are due to poor defence and rush. That's how you score most goals. Bob either slipped or thew the game away for theatrics to stretch to game 7 and win it all in style on home ice.

I said 7 before it started and 7 every game of the series. Florida spent the first 3 games proving defence wins championships and despite the offensive explosion, the Oilers recent defence has reinforced that as well. Now it’s just about who can be better on one night.

Jay didn’t make significant changes/ correct changes/ point out the problem. I don’t know what it’s like behind the scenes but when I played football and when we did Film, our coach always pointed out the small detail’s and told us how to counter the other team and how we needed to change up or game and mindset. Been an Oilers fan before they even became an NHL franchise.
Am 54 and went to games from 1976 when they were playing in the Northlands Arena against teams like the Hartford Whalers.
Then Peter Pocklington came along and took the NHL to Edmonton and still remember my dad taking me to Wayne Gretzkys first game though I don't remember the presentation of the "soon to be greatest one of all time". My idols back then were Dave Dryden (goalkeeper and brother of Ken Dryden) and the infamous Dave Semenko who was Gretzkys bodyguard(will he rest in peace) though he may not in a few hours.
Have followed the Oilers since leaving Edmonton in 1981 missing the Stanley Cup wins but watching them from Australia where my parents were sent to.
Watch a lot of the NBA and Major League Base-ball but don't cheer for any team. My heart belongs and will always belong to the Oilers for almost a half century (my God I feel suddenly very old typing this)😢😢😢
Live in France now and it'll be wake-up at 2.30am as to watch this I HOPE histrory unfold for the Oilers who could become the first team in modern day NHL to come back and win the Stanley Cup after being 0-3 down.
A little less than 20 hours and we'll know. If only I could be in Edmonton right now. Only place I'd want to be. The whole city must be bloody volcano.

The biggest change to history here is the destruction of the legend that defence wins Stanley Cups.
Actually, putting more pucks in your opponents net than they put in yours wins Stanley cups, and it makes no difference if it's 2-1 or 6-5. Last team we saw win the cup with overpowering offence was the Gretzky Oilers. Deja vu.

The thing is though, the Oilers have great defence too (which was not true of recent Oilers teams). Great 5v5 team, especially offensively as you said, with all time great special teams, solid goaltending, and smart, adaptable coach

I’ve said all post season especially going into the finals, that Florida will blow their wad in those super heavy series against Boston, Tampa and NY. That style of play giving or receiving heavy hits will eventually take its toll. I figured there’s no way Bobby could keep that pace for another series, hell I’m 38 and feel the aging every morning lol. But that said he looked unstoppable in first 3 games but knew the oilers would eventually figure him out… 20-6 goal dif I did not foresee though. It’s now the oilers cup to lose imo

Montour, Reinhart, Verhaeg, and Ekblad are passengers. They’re overthinking every play on the ice and you can see it. The confidence is gone. This game is definitely going to mention in my opinion…😢

It's funny how before the series every "expert" was saying the Panthers had the better team, more depth, better goaltending. Now the "experts" are wondering what's happened to the team. How about being worn down by Oilers team speed, inability to execute because of Oilers team defence, and Panthers hesitation and second guessing? Clearly the Panthers are gripping their sticks way too tightly.

Florida can erase these 3 losses with a win in game 7, but Edmonton is rolling in confidence right now. This is now a one game Super Bowl with the loser being devastated no matter what. If the Panthers don't win this year, they likely don't even get this close for a long time again, with so many free agents. Florida has to go in with the mindset that we've won 3 straight and they've won 3 straight, but we have the final game at home, which is what you play for during the long regular season. I think Florida gets the win Monday night in a low scoring Panthers type of game, but time will tell. McDavid wins Conn Smythe either way.

  • @SteveSturgy-do2rl

The Oilers needed to hold back mentally to account for Skinner, the opposite for Florida the Panthers could stay mentally on offense know their goal keeping would come through. Now both Teams are the same mentally, need to account for goal tending is not reliable.

Here's why I believe the Oilers aren't getting as pummelled by bad reffing this year compared to other Canadian teams in the postseason over the years under this Gary Buttman regime:
Buttman plead with the Oilers to give his beloved Coyotes a "diginified exit" back in April! He promised fairer refs during the postseason in exchange for the Oilers dropping that game! The Oilers upheld their end of the deal, hence forcing Gary Buttman's hand!
