I worked a quarter of a century at a Bank of America Facility that in my first year employed about 4,000 employees with middle class jobs with fringe benefits and pensions. The last year before I retired there were less than 500 employees with a lot of Independent contractors with no fringe benefits and 1-year contracts. In other words, no job stability and no provision for retirement. I'm just grateful as a baby boomer that I got in with a real middle class and not this house-of-cards phony economy.
