    Not a bad idea to use your credit card to pay your rent or other bills as long as your card isn’t close to being maxed out.

    • @LivinginCanada
      @LivinginCanada  Год назад +1

      That’s right, I like to keep my utilization rate very low. But you can use your credit card closer to limit and immediately pay off the balance.

    • @houdasalhi3076

      What are the risks with having high utilisation rate?

    • @LivinginCanada

      It can lower your credit score because it signals to banks/lenders that you need to borrow a lot of money.

      I said in the video that it's worth it if the monetary value you earn from your rewards exceeds the fee. If it doesn't, then don't do it.

      I'm not signing up for this...
      My rent is $2,500 and if I pay with the Tangerine World Mastercard I get $600 back at the end of the year but with a $525 dollar fee...
      I'd rather use my crypto debit card...

    Hello.Good day.
    As a person who experienced living in Germany as well if you want to choose between Canada and Germany, which one you suggest?

    • @LivinginCanada
      @LivinginCanada  Год назад +3

      Tbh, if Germany would make immigration easy for me, and if I were single, I would move to Germany. However, as my spouse can't speak German, I chose Canada, as learning German takes a long time!

    I do have a question. What is my rent payment exceeds my credit cards limit? For examply my rent is 4500 and my credit limit is $3500? Can anything be done? Or must it be within my credit cards limit?

    • @LivinginCanada
      @LivinginCanada  9 месяцев назад +3

      You need to increase your credit card limit, or get another card with a higher limit. Also very important note: For a great credit score, the utilization rate (i.e. the percentage of your balance compared to your limit) should be very low, 30% or even 20% if possible. So if your rent is 4,500, to maintain such low utilization rate, you'd need to get a card with a limit of 15k. *Not a financial advisor, just sharing my knowledge and experience!

      Is t considered a recurring payment ?

  • @saratakkoush6109
    @saratakkoush6109 Год назад +1

    Is there a way to do this with a partner? If you're sharing rent with another person, would it be possible to pay half from one person's account and the other half from the other person's through chexy ? how would the rewards be? and how does the credit score look for both of us?
    Also I'm a bit apprehensive about banking in Canada because I want to know if I can pay my credit card through banking apps.. I want to be able to monitor all spending through the app... also considering having KOHO and a normal brick and mortar bank like scotiabank.. can you show us what bank apps look like?

    • @LivinginCanada
      @LivinginCanada  Год назад +2

      Chexy would charge each of your cards separately, meaning that if you each have your separate credit cards, it would impact your credit score separately as well. Yes, you can definitely pay your credit card bill through banking apps. If your bank and issuer of your credit card are the same, it's slightly easier to monitor and the payment is usually reflected faster (e.g. you bank with Scotia and have a scotia cc), but even if companies are different (e.g. you bank with Tangerine and have a Brim cc), it works well, it just sometimes takes longer to reflect the payment. Hope this helps!

    Hi how to tackle the problem in every entry level job where recruiters are hoping for 1 or 2 yrs of experience ? How to get that job as fresher with Internship certificate by highlighting some other skills or qualities in other words how to completely impress the interviewer into hiring us if there's some competition & many candidates ? Do language skills or persuasion matters here.. what to showcase more..

    • @LivinginCanada
      @LivinginCanada  Год назад +2

      There are 2 important stages to land a job. The first would be to get your resume in front of the recruiters, to get their attention. One important thing here is to write a strong professional summary on top where you highlight your intention and what you can contribute. Nowadays it can be very hard to get your resume seen, so if you have connections it can help to get noticed. Then, once you get the interview, displaying a positive, energetic attitude is super important. Recruiters can feel when someone is enthusiastic, willing to learn, and responsive. Lastly, after the interview, don't forget to follow up with a thank you (email or physical note). Hope this helps!

      That's a great question, I wish I knew about such a book! I haven't come across a book that talks about this, but one that might help and that's closely related to this topic is 'The Proximity Principle', it basically talks about 'how positioning yourself near the right people and places can help you land the job you love.' It's about a wider understanding of networking. Hope this helps, and glad to see you interact on this channel!

      Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to use it because I moved to my own purchased condo at that time! Regarding if it's worth it, I'd compare the monetary benefits you get from the credit card rewards against the fee.
