I was a part of that crap and spoke with one of those marines a day before they died. Horrible. WHY WAS THE TALIBAN/ENEMY Allowed to pull security for US Forces at Abbey Gate? Why? I lived in Kabul for years. Everyone knows Abby road is super sketchy to begin with. Hurry up and get off that road sketchy. And you allow the Enemy to occupy it and pull security for our Forces? That is pure murder. I wonder what the look on the Talibans faces were when they found out they would be allowed to do this. They must have thought they were being tricked into an ambush. However, it was the other way around, the Americans were being ordered into an ambush and many died. Thanks a lot. Now the people in charge of it had to deal with a funeral and while it was happening they just looked at their watches hoping that the time would fly so they could get out of their and away from us miserable enlisted scum service members.
The Russian army learned their lesson very well in ukraine. They paid its price for sure, but it wasn't in vain. It brought their doctrine from the 1970s to the 21st century. They are now experienced, adapted and prepared for modern warfare better than any army in the world.
Man I love this conversation and I love that people are talking about this. I will tell you that there are a lot of lessons that I can see that the US military has already learned and all this is just public information. Does everybody know everything no. But there are people that are silo out in different areas they have the nucleus of the knowledge that’s coming out of Ukraine and what’s going on with Israel. Unfortunately for American service personnel until the way that they operate changes they are at great risk of losing human lives. What I’m taking away from everything I’m learning is simply that you need to remove the human operator so you need to create systems that are uncrewed. So the greatest loss is not to equipment it’s to the lives of the loyal Americans that would be serving their nation with a legacy technology. The military has some knowledge of this are ready however it takes time to create the systems and that’s where they are today if you look at how robotics and drones and unrooted systems are out there being developed it’s very promising. Now I hope that there’s not an unfortunate event like a Pearl Harbor to teach America then new technology is required where we made the transition from the battleship to the carrier. I do see that there are systems and there’s a lot of people in many western countries working on autonomous systems or remotely crewed systems. When a conflict would occur it would be a matter of gaining resources and establishing manufacturing processes that would create the availability for tens of thousands of small systems and thousands of larger systems potentially. I see this being created and everything from naval ships to boots on the ground. One Air Force system that I really like is called the CCA’s collaborative combat aircraft.

Meanwhile, their "Professional " Counterparts in the Army surrendered like dogs to a Japanese army half its size dressed with neckties, spats over dress shoes, and Smokey Bear hat or M-1918 Doughboy helmets. The flip side of that is unmotivated draftees look at the Russia Ukraine war and Vietnam, especially Vietnam. Probably the only country that managed to get that balance of lots of people in uniform and motivated would probably be Israel. I Have a friend who fought in Ukraine the future seems to be leaning towards who can field the larger force of competent and motivated people, because of drones and artillery has made throwing warm bodies at an obstacle less viable. Russia has learned this and has resorted to dispersing its people when attacking Ukrainian lines.

War always changes, and sadly for the US, the population is hardly war worthy, the technology is garbage, and the "leadership" in our military and political aspects is laughable.
Biggest issue the us military has gotten away with a lot because they have fought anyone. I would say it’s like a boxing match if everyone you fight hasn’t won a fight in years and then one day because you won a lot against nobodies now your I title contention. The us military doesn’t have what takes to fight against any country that is formidable for more than 6 months now that most the reserve weapons are gone probably less than that. The us is 20 years behind and hasn’t adapted to modern fighting styles. Which Russia 🇷🇺 and china 🇨🇳 have. The us military is very corrupt mostly set up as a way to make a lot money off of its allies but not built for a real war against another peer country.

Well they assumed Russia was actually on par with us. Think about it, Ukraine was the poorest country in Europe, they had mostly Soviet hand-me-downs, and a lot of people expected a large part of the population supported the Russians. Man, they proved the world wrong in the most public way imaginable. I simply couldn't believe it when I first saw it.
To look at Russia’s lack of combat effectiveness in Ukraine, and to not come to any other conclusion than that we would boat race Russia, is an ignorant take. It is without question there are improvements that could be made across the military, but a gloves-off US would crush Russia.
We do a LOT of foreign intervention to prevent warfare happening at home. Has it made our population soft? Only in DC where the flapping lips never stop. Remember guys, the last time we left the world alone, TWO global conflicts ensued with over 100,000,000+ casualties in warfighters and civilians. Statistically these last eighty years have been the most peaceful (in scale.) But the problem with intervention is that it only emboldens political bullies because they've forgotten things like trauma, carnage, blood, devastation and the stink of rotting death. It's like that old Star Trek episode 'A Taste of Armageddon' where war was treated with clinical detachment.
The US has not fought a real war since the civil war. War war 2 does not count because by and large the American civilian population just watched it happen over there. The Axis powers just simply could not bring the war to the American home front. There is a huge difference when you are fighting a war where the civilian population can be routinely bombed, displaced etc. Talking to many Europeans especially Ukrainians and Germans this frequently comes up about American foreign policy and why their leaders have been much more dovish. The next war is going to reach American soil and by and large the population nor our political leaders quite grasp this.
If the USA had not sent food, financing, arms, and ammo to the Allies in WWI then both sides would have agreed to cease fire by 1916. The rotten peace of 1918 gave us WWII, Korea, the Middle East (the Ottomans kept that place chill for over 500 years) and communist China

The present is just a continuation of the past. We have been losing since Korea. I think what we did in ww2 scared the hell out of the world and has resulted in us being tied down in low level conflict of the sorts that in order to win you have to be more vicious than your enemy. Even 9-11 was not enough to get us off our asses. Yes, we demolished a couple of countries but changed nothing. Um, the less 'combat ready' they are, the safer WE are. Have you not been paying attention? The 'enemy' is YOU!
I agree. I read that almost half our attack subs are in need of maintenance. Then 6 months later read in Hindu times and Indian media that the US Navy is trying to make deal to use Indian ports.

There’s always allot of tough lessons at the onset of combat. There’s no accountability, war is too expensive for the U.S. we can’t replace our losses, and the troops aren’t ready due to the Chinese subversion campaign.
They are going to have to call the GWOT back because of these clowns that are in now.
Good points.
We haven't had the need to innovate on a budget or out of necessity for a good while.... Easier to print money and buy spendy missiles and weapons from the war machines that help fund the next election... That sure can change fast though ....
Every single conflict we think the next conflict will be the exact same thing.
There must be a way for us to prepare for war more effectively. Hey, wait! I have an idea. Let’s try thinking outside the box and not getting burdened under bureaucracy.

A big part of the problem I saw developing during Nam was that a lot of officers got promoted because they were kissing the right butts and not because they knew how to fight. We have stupid leaders today.
The job of the military is to protect Washington D.C. and the overclass of the bureaucracy. What do we care if mushrooms sprout?
Why didn’t you get up and walk out?
It would be interesting to see how many of the commenters have served in the military and for them to explain the reason for their comments.
I've served, but I bet we've all paid taxes.
Most of the people here haven’t served, nor know anyone who has served. Hell half these damn comments are people propping up the Russian military… who would’ve thought we’d see the day the right was such big fans of Russia?! Of all places! 😂

The mission has been sidelined. That's the big problem. DEI is prioritized over the mission. Readiness means nothing if it would interfere with someone's identity.
White women benefit the most from DEI.
Now the people in charge of it had to deal with a funeral and while it was happening they just looked at their watches hoping that the time would fly so they could get out of their and away from us miserable enlisted scum service members.
we have become the British Army of 1776
The Russian army learned their lesson very well in ukraine. They paid its price for sure, but it wasn't in vain. It brought their doctrine from the 1970s to the 21st century. They are now experienced, adapted and prepared for modern warfare better than any army in the world.
Ban fast food outlets and sugar loaded drinks .. in a year or two you’ll have your soldier material .
.. but that won’t happen of course
We need P51 Mustangs and F-4 Corsairs not F-35s.

MM1 USNR (Ret) 13 active, 13 reserve. We have always had some form of uneasiness. Read the book "Fall from glory" I served during this era of dysfunction under Reagan which is why I left active duty after 13 years. Military establishments always fall under dysfunctional tangents during peacetime. The "Professional Navy" In 1941 sank to the bottom of the of Pearl Harbor standing at ridged parade rest in their whites dressed for a dinner dance. Meanwhile, their "Professional " Counterparts in the Army surrendered like dogs to a Japanese army half its size dressed with neckties, spats over dress shoes, and Smokey Bear hat or M-1918 Doughboy helmets. It was the grungy coverall clad citizen Sailor and Dirty Rockwell clad citizen soldier who won the war. Our problem today is we don't have a citizenry willing to ruse to the occasion
@ The IDF of today is not the same IDF who seized the Temple mountain in the 6 day war. You can tell by the demeanor of the soldiers. In 1967 the IDF soldiers were leaning forward, Uzis at the ready advancing with purpose. Their last excursion into Lebanon you had IDF soldiers slogging along with their Galilee dangling out of the way wondering what they were doing over there

While not being "defeated" please show me any major conflict the US government has actually won in the last generation.
War always changes, and sadly for the US, the population is hardly war worthy, the technology is garbage, and the "leadership" in our military and political aspects is laughable.
The problem is the military folks don't want to serve a government that doesn't give eff about them. They treat illegals better.
AGREED.Our government treats illegals like citizens,or how citizens are supposed to be treated.
Close the bases, bring the military home instead of supporting genocide
Remember the military wasn’t quite combat ready right after 9/11.
Win? we always give up.
All I want to say is why doesn't America strengthen our country protect our land an prepare to fight if that's what's coming at least we would be strategically strong in our country just food for thought

True that. Let the rest of us be worthy of their sacrifice past and future for it is certain a hard rain is about to fall
The 82nd Airborne is an elite unit. So no surprise it's full of hard chargers. That doesn't mean the US military as a whole is ready for war. Remember that the Afghan commandos were also full of badasses. But the rest of the Afghan army was as reliable as a wet paper bag. Rendering the Afghan commandos irrelevant.

I’d be willing to bet we are closer than the North Koreans were when they were sent in to hep Putins troops.
Are these the same generals that were saying Russia could sweep NATO in one week 😂 yup more money to the military compex 😂
Yeah no everyone literally sees it

Because the same old usual suckers are not taking it anymore!
@@hungrybraineater2if that does happen the civi militia will be Allies of anyone against the neocon globalist in dc and London slavery is also still codified in the constitution
America has never been ready for a major conflict throughout history.
Ask the Russians what real war is like.
And this last disaster where we left enough weapons behind to cost the world another how many years of trouble. I can't own any of what got left, but the out-and-out terrorists get it for free.
