  • America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod 1933 Ford 427 “Renaissance Roadster” Build Project
The culmination of a four year build at Frisbie’s Portland area shop. The craftsmanship, design and execution of the build is second to none. The hand-formed all aluminum body is coated in a vibrant PPG Violet Red with darker cherry/black tones offering a two tone sparkle tailor made to shine in the sun. And shine it did in Pleasanton.
Working from a Chris Ito design, the body was English-wheeled and hammered out of sheet aluminum massaged to match the angular, flowing lines of the concept illustration. The custom grille is a radical version of the ’33 Ford design flanked by equally distinctive headlights based on ’34 Chrysler lenses in custom-made housings. The hood is highlighted by recessed air scoops resembling the vintage Scott Super Slot injector hats of the 1960s. One off milled parts, many of which glow in brilliant chrome are found at every glance.
The chassis, comprised of 3/16-inch steel and chromoly tubing was built completely in house at Steve’s Auto Restoration. Polished and plated custom-designed independent front and rear suspension machined by EVOD Industries offers a righteous ride. There were very few off the shelf-parts used in the build, but none of these were used in their original configuration. When crafting a vehicle of this caliber, everything needs to be massaged to fit the specific needs of this one-of-a-kind creation
Horsepower, and plenty of it comes from an all-aluminum 427c.i. big-block Chevrolet. The block and heads were sanded smooth while the rest of the exterior engine components - valve covers, oil pan etc. - have all been custom CNC-milled to achieve the desired aesthetics. Even the Edelbrock tri-power intake has been modified to accommodate the Autotrend EFI setup.
The one-off craftsmanship continues inside, where the highest-grade leather was stitched over seats that are formed into the rear of the cabin. A 1930 Nash instrument cluster houses a full set of Classic Instruments, with a distinctive custom steering wheel offering good grip.
And those wheels! The rolling stock, and backing plates were designed by S.A.R.’s David Brost and machined by EVOD Industries.

Bondo & paint can hide a multiple of sins, in this case it was almost a sin to paint over the aluminum work.

I swear that I saw in the pictures at that car show, in the background, a Bugatti Delahay give a nod of approval. As if to say, "Well done son! You're everything that I could be if I was your age!!" That car looks like a Fedora that a sharp dressed man would wear for a night on the town!!! There has to be a better word than perfection to describe this car!!!! Someone tell me what that word is!!!!!

Great work, but if it's a Ford, it should say Ford under the hood. It's not like you can't find an Aluminum Ford 427 that makes crazy power. I don't get it. It would make this very slick car even more cool.

A very thoughtful, artful, well planed and executed build. I’m not surprised it was given the riddler award. But being a Ford guy and seeking purity, was the big block Chevy necessary?

    • @richardisner4030
      @richardisner4030 2 года назад

They put the chevy engine in it to save money & cut corners. A 427 ford would cost them double. However in the long run it would have saved money. Where as when the chevy blows up. It will cost more money to either rebuild it or replace it. With the ford engine. You would not have that problem.

5:56 I don't think I've ever seen a car with independent rear suspension (with those incredible custom A-arms, that you can't even see on the finished ride), but straight axle front, instead of the other way around. And, bizarre location/orientation for the suspension springs- I can't even figure out how they'd work, in that spot. Some kind of hidden push-rod set-up, or something? Well, you can't say they didn't think outside the box, I guess...

How do You choose a color to paint something like that? It's almost a Crime to cover it in Meer... paint...
In my Opinion, It's like any color would just "Hide" the beauty and it's craftsmanship.
It's simply a Masterpiece just the way it was, raw.
Unless if maybe you somehow handcrafted the paint from scratch, too. I dunno....
The ONLY word I can use to describe it is "Gorgeous"
The Builder's Brain should be on display as well....lol.
