It's crazy that Jon invented a game that involves bluffing.
Damn you didn't have to do our boy dirty like that. That's crazy.
@@ryanlutes9833I mean…they aren’t wrong though.
He is good in social deduction games, though. 😂 I get what you mean, straight up lying makes him get flustered, but leading someone along is definitely something he can do
@@MeonLights As is evidenced by his very high winrate in the social deduction games on this and other channels... Oh... wait... His conversion rate is dogshit and the vast majority of his wins (which are vastly outnumbered by losses) are by accidentally getting to the end by being wrong. Now I find him to be HIGHLY entertaining, but I am certainly not deluding myself that he is good at the games. He is objectively terrible, but his good humor and positive outlook still make him someone you would want to play with, or without that possibility, watch. I don't know what the hell you are taking, but I would check with your local authorities because something that mind altering must be a controlled substance.
What's next, Laurie making a push your luck game? I'd watch that.
*"Feminist in the sheets, howler monkey on the streets"* LMAO
Lorna is such a fun addition to the group. Hoping she comes back more often.
That’s probably the loudest I’ve laughed in years. Lorna is the funniest person I know, honestly. Her type of humor is what makes me happy.
Lorna was the MVP in this game for sure! That line and "Magic" were so funny!
I too have come to sing the praises of Lorna. She's an instant favourite!
Rosie: "you knew what I ment"
Sully: "No. Because the question you asked was mental!"
🤣🤣🤣
Linguist here. It is a totally legit question.
@@prufrock1977 I'm no linguist, but I 100% agree, English has changed a lot over the years!
Sullivan putting all of his eggs in a single basket before stepping on them is not what I expected to see today, but I'm happy it happened.
Makes you wonder how he would do if he didn’t insist on doing that bit.
was best part for me lol
44:08 "In the sheets" is such a powerful response to someone's assumption about you I'm obsessed
She's pure chaos and I never want her to leave
it was incredible
Lorna is something else
"you know what I mean" "no I don't because that question was mental" is a casual conversation I have daily with my partner
the way jon delivered the rules section of this video felt like someone trying to do asmr while routinely getting too excited about the board game they made and forgetting they were doing asmr
That’s just my voice 😂😂😂
Congrats on having the game funded in just three hours!
I like the mix of trivia and gambling, it seemed like a lot of fun. I also liked when Lorna answered "Magic', because my instinctive answer to that question was "Witchcraft".
Thank you so much! I can’t believe it!
This feels like Jon was playing Wits & Wagers and thought, "I can do this... but better!"... and, you know what? I think he might be right.
Wits & Wagers is one of my favorites, but this is a really nice complement to that. It's a great mechanic
❤❤❤
Happy for you @@JonGracey69! Looking forward to seeing what yourself and Invisible Typewriter release soon and further in the future!
Maybe I'm the crazy one, but I didn't think Lorna putting Forrest Gump for a question about movie quotes was that insane! I guess I'm just not very cultured but Forrest Gump has a lot of famous quotes from it, if you're not a big movie person it feels like a pretty reasonable guess.
My wife guessed Forrest Gump and I guessed Star Wars. It was like the one question where half the gang had it covered and we had no idea.
I think Forrest Gump was a great guess, it’s a super quotable film. My only main argument for Casablanca is its age and classic status has given it more time to seep into the public consciousness
@@JonGracey69 That's fair, I'm not really a film person so I'm not gonna lie, I know Casablanca in name alone so I'd never have guessed it!
Forrest Gump was genuinely my first guess for that question as well, based purely on the sheer number of quotes from that film.
Yeah, I guessed terminator 😅
As the biggest Faramir apologist I am so upset right now YES OF COURSE THEY GET TOGETHER IN THE EXTENDED EDITION
It feels so rushed in the movie, practically comes out of nowhere. In the book it actually builds up to it.
Merry is a great answer. They teamed up and had a lot of screen time together! Why would she be interested in the son of the deposed steward? Laurie lied about not likening Lord of the Rings and is clearly indicating the popular fan-fiction.
JUSTICE FOR FARAMIR
@@YTAG33 because faramir is the best character and he deserved so much better 🥲
No I fully get what you’re saying, I just love him as a character and felt the need to comment about it lol
1:06:30 Eowyn and Faramir are shown briefly together at Aragorn's crowning, that's the only nod in the film. They bow together as Aragorn walks past.
"faramir is barely a character" from ken was so funny because that's what faramir's dad thinks as well (and they are alluded to being together in the film at the end). Love the game! Defo going to back it good job!!
I thought Dom was gonna say „only for the most loyal and devoted piglets“. Yes, I never recovered from that
The only two additions I would suggest to the game are notepad style flipcovers for the answer pads and a sliding sleeve for the answer sheet. Otherwise the game is primed for an app version or online trivia game night.
These are great suggestions!
Looks like fun, but you might want to give the questions a once over for precision. For the question on suing the King the first thing that popped into my head was "King of which country?"
Unless it's true for every country, which is plausible
Yes and the Lord of the rings question I had no idea was about Lord of the rings so clarifying that would be good
I'm not 100% sure if I remember this correctly. But, the reason you cant sue the King (of England) is all laws are made/enforced in the name of the King, so I don't think it matters what country. It also means he cant break any law.
@@nmarfell1 That logic only works if you assume that all kingdoms are built upon the same rules (and that no subsequent changes in power haven't changed those rules in any of those kingdoms). I find that quite unlikely. In other words, the question is most likely refering to the British monarchy.
If we want to be pedantic, John Williams had an acting cameo in the sequel trilogy, and was nominated (and won) for the original film score. So he is technically an actor, and was also nominated!
Jon has somehow made the perfect game for me. Knowledge, betting, deduction. Oh my!
I need this!
Yessss thank you!!
All hail Sullivan Beau Brown, Lord of the Board.
Lörd of the Böard.
I can’t support a Chelsea fc supporter. We must overthrow the lord
The completely legitimate Lord of the Board who won it fair and square.
@@anthonysulpizio2269 No one is allowed to sue the Lord of the Board
I just absolutely love how hard Sully leaned into the bit of betting exclusively on Launa.
Only ten minutes in and Jon is already lying. He completely omitted that he's among the best in the world at pro-wrestling knowledge and trivia.
Yeah, but I'm sure they all already know that, so it's one of those "goes without saying" things.
It’s like saying that grass is green and the sky is blue m8, everyone already knows it
Hearing that Jon, Viv, and Matthew have a company that makes board games is very interesting to me! Ever since that old NRB livestream where Rosie and the crew made up a game fully improv, I've been working on a viable party game design based on it! And by "working on" I mean "I have the entire design doc, rules, and about 50-60% of the required cards written." I lost motivation for it when I hit a bit of card writer's block and haven't touched those Notion documents since...
Part of me is now like, "if you finish it, you can maybe bring it to NRB's attention and get Invisible Typewriter to manufacture/publish it."
Another part of me is like, "No, don't be stupid, they'll never see it, and that sounds like a lot of effort for something you'll never be able to manifest anyway."
...the struggle of having passions when things cost money and day jobs are exhausting 😅
Make the effort friend!:] You've already put so much work into it, I'd regret not giving this final push to see what happens! It might go nowhere, but you can't know that until you try :D
I mean, you could just send them an email and say "hey, here's an idea + all the material I have so far. If you guys want to publish it, give me a percentage?" In other words, it doesn't have to cost you any money or extra time, that's only if you still want to be the game's sole designer and driving force. Heck, the game might turn out even better if it ends up being a collaborative affair.
@@ericathefae I feel like I at least need a first prototype to send them before asking them for anything in return 😅
in the intro, Jon is talking like he's letting us in on a massive secret,
almost a religiously hushed tone XD
Board games are my religion 🙏
I just found out Lorna is a comedian, no wonder she is so funny.
Jon doing his nails the color of the game elements is so good
Shout out to Carol for the lovely nail art!
"You'll have to toss me" being the joke of the day is so deserving. XD
As a geologist, I guessed the proper number for San Andreas (thanks GTA - I figured that was the divider) , but seriously underestimated you being clueless on hydroponics...
Yeah I thought the hydroponics question was a gimme. Maybe it isn't such a well known thing in the UK?
Can’t all be as clever as me!!
Yeah I thought hydroponics was an easy one. Never mind. I wasn't so good the further away from nerddom they got..
yeah I put 4 for hydroponics dint think of GTA for san andreas fault so did 2,also a geologist
I only knew hydroponics because of Star Trek Voyager 😂
Recommendation for questions: If it relates to a specific country (like a lot of the questions are clearly UK specific) you should include the country in the question.
"Who is allowed sue the king?" is super vague. What if there is a queen or you are in another country that has a monarchy? Idea: "Who is allowed to sue to UK Monarch?"
Not me slapping my DVD box of Agatha Christie's Marple at Round 2, question 5 and screaming "I KNOW THAT ONE" XD
I noticed a game bug at 1:19:33- if Ken had bet on Lorna, Laurie would have had no one to bet on. A solution might be to have an “even” vs “odd” tiebreaker-
Even tiebreaker is as you described originally in the head-to-head. Odd tiebreaker eliminates players who get the question wrong until it’s a head-to-head.
TO ADD ON!
If [somehow] there are 3[+] at the end, elimination until it's 1on1.
Love that Jon matched his nail polish to the gameboard's colors.
What a great game! (Also Jon calling his wife "gorg" at 1:14:14 was the sweetest thing).
❤❤❤
On the question "Who is allowed to sue the King?", my first thought was "his mom" and than I remembered... 😅😅
😂😂😂
I thought Sully's expert subject would be horses.
I’m genuinely surprised no one knew NZ granted equal voting rights to women in 1893, as I’d thought that one fairly well known. Ken was very close with Australia, because whilst we were second (1902), we were given the dual right to both vote and stand as candidates, and that was a world first.
I suspect we led the way in suffrage as colonial countries because low populations meant everyone pitched in with work that needed doing, regardless of perceived gender roles. It’s harder to hold onto prejudices about a subset of people when you work along side them and see those prejudices disproved on a daily basis.
BTW, what a fun game! It’d be both great for playing with a friend group and to use as an icebreaker with strangers.
My wife and I watched this together and her answer was "South Australia" and we had to debate whether South Australia as a colony of England before Australia came into being would count as a separate country. In any event my answer New Zealand was on the card, so ha.
This is in the Patreon cut but Viv does go into how South Australia was technically first but because it was pre-Federation it doesn’t technically count 😢
So thrilled this has been fully backed.
Also, those are some very good nails. Whoever painted those must be pretty cool.
Did anyone else notice that Laurie got away with not listing his weaknesses, the cheeky boy!
Well obviously Laurie has no weaknesses
Actually a really good concept for a game Jon. The best thing is it isn't overly complicated and seems easy to dive right into. I'm a fan.
Thank you!!
So cool you created your own game! Loved Jon doing the intro clearly proud of his game :)
I really am! Thanks so much!
Yes, there IS a transformer named Fathom. He transforms into the head of Tidal Wave.
He's a very fringe character, very 'guy in the back of the cantina' tier.
He was literally one toy ever
@@samlewis6487 He was one of the toys of our times.
Am I the only one who immediately googled "transformer fathom" at that point in the video?
@@lazykbys fathom tfwiki in my case.
David Acord is the voice of Grogu. David Acord was nominated for Best Sound Editing for his sound editing work for The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker. Add it as a bonus answer for that question.
Still crossing my fingers that the team saw my Monopoly But Robin Hood idea and turn it into an episode one day. Dom would make a brilliant Prince John.
ohh this one’s fun! very intrigued by the idea
@@pan-opticon My idea was that the game is played normally by everyone except two of the players: one, Robin Hood, cannot own property, but can steal from property-owners when he lands on an owned property. When Robin passes go, his wealth is equally distributed among the players who do not own any properties. The other unique player, The Sheriff of Nottingham, takes taxes from property owners when he lands on an owned property, and all players collectively have to pay his $200 when he passes Go. If he lands on the same space as Robin, all of Robin's wealth is sent to the Crown (minus a bonus for the Sheriff, and any bribes he might pay to the wealthy landowners), and Robin goes to jail. Any player who does not own property can roll a double to bust Robin out (so he's not just relying on his own rolls and waiting for his own turn).
Or something along those lines, I'm sure the pros can work out the details so it works properly.
@@mjb7015 I think this is a fun base idea! although maybe the non-Robin/Sheriff roles could be subdivided into aides for the two main players and have a little something added to them as well, perhaps like a quirk/bonus that lets them fuck over the other team beyond just money passing around etc?
But as you say they can probably work it out best, hope this one’ll happen eventually 🤞
I think I shrieked "Miss Jane Marple" at the screen an unhealthy number of times...
Me too, me too... :D
I thought that I was being lead down the garden party by all the m's.
It's great to see a kickstarter video with real people that's not render heavy. Congrats on a cool looking game :)
Thank you so much!!
so awesome that you guys are playing a game that Jon made! that’s genuinely awesome, the game looks so cool as well I’ll def be donating :D
Thank you so much!!
I was practically boiling and screaming at my phone with the San Andreas question because all I could think of was the Rock film about this exact question!
12:54 In addition to appreciating your love of G1 Transformers (dude, you HAVE to DM a series on Chaotic Neutral, the Renegade RPG is tons of fun) I just wanted to register my appreciation for this joke, it's a Venntruvian Diagram of my favourite humour intersections
Oh boy, Lorna steals every episode she's in. What a delight!
Jon making a board game is awesome and definitely supporting this project the game looks insanely fun. You guys should be proud of it!
Thank you!!
It’s Tuesday, it’s 6pm… NO ROLLS BARRED!!
It's time time to play.
NO, ROLL, BARRED !!!
Get on Board!
On the earthquake one... there a a massive number of fault lines in CA. San Andreas may be the most well known, but you'd really have to ask which one caused a specific earthquake or you could get a bunch of accurate answers that aren't what the card says, like the Hayward Fault. Per USGS there's seven significant fault zones in the Bay Area. Tectonic plates slipping would also have worked. Be good to narrow down the question a bit.
I googled it and there is, in fact, a transformer named Fathom. He turns into, and this is not a joke, a head. Just. A head.
This game looks great. As a Brit living abroad with international board game friends I'm always worried that British-made trivia games have so many Brit-centric questions, but this didn't seem to have any. Amazing!
Thank you! We are trying to make them as international as possible! Dylan, who contributed most of the questions, is American and I'm Australian living in the UK so I think that helped :)
Actually, in the LOTR films, it does show Faramir and Eowyn together (they are at Aragorn's coronation together).
Very joyful and funny that Lorna became the main character of this game xD
System Shock 2 being Jon's favorite game is my favorite piece of trivia
Goddamn it’s good

Long live the King!
I haven't watched nrb for a while (was binge watching other things) but I came back for this video and it was so comforting. Everything from the intro music to the rules explanation to the banter to the "get on board" at the end just made me smile so much!
Very good game. Some of the questions need to be tightened up as others have pointed out (e.g. the King question needing to specify the King of England), the betting angle will lead to some great banter at the table!
Well done, Jon. Great work. Congratulations. It takes a fair amount of courage and stubbornness to share your creativity with others, especially when it's a labour of love. So, bravo. You did real good.
Thanks so much!!
I backed this on Kickstarter before I watched it. What a fun concept. Can’t wait for this one.
Wow, such trust!! Thank you so much ❤
I thought hydroponics was a common knowledge answer so I'd have put like a 4 for my number. It genuinely upsets me that only Jon got it.

Laurie making A LOT of eye contact with the camera this episode
Jon you should have a Kickstarter exclusive batch of cards that are the NRB crews questions
The question "Who is allowed to sue the King?" should have specified which king. Could be talking about different countries' kings, or could have been talking about Elvis.
I love how clearly excited Jon is to show the world his game - it looks really good!
I AM SO EXCITED
Great game, Jon! Love the mechanic where it's as much about guessing on other people than just knowing it yourself.
Thank you!! ❤
Yes Farmir is scene with Eowyn in the theatrical version at the end scene when the king is being crowned. Also in the extend there is more of the relationship of the two shown. By the way good game, nicely designed, I would play it but I am not one to collect trivia type games.
Yes! I was dying through that whole section.
This game looks really fun! Supported the kickstarter and can’t wait to play it when it’s released!
Thank you!!
47:26 I'm actually so ashamed of myself for forgetting this, I literally live here
What a fun idea for a trivia game!!! The fact that you can suck at trivia and still win is such a great concept!!!! Helps the whole group feel more engaged and not feel like they have to be the smartest person at the table to win!
Lorna not knowing what transfomers is means she's either a bebeh, or a timeless god who doesn't pay heed to trivial things like Japanese animated robots.
or, she's just really into electrical circuits
Well this looks like the best game I've seen in ages. Take my money, please.
Wow, what a compliment!! Thank you!!
Even though I'm not big into kickstarter for games, as a fellow Jon with no H, I had to back this! It looks like an easy teach game that could be fun at family events. I think a Simpsons questions expansion pack would fit nicely here! Please write that idea up on your invisible typewriter.
I am insanely surprised only Jon knew hydroponics, its used so widely in video games, movies and television.

This looks like such good fun. Genuinely really enjoyable gameplay. Well done Jon and team for putting this together and best of luck with the launch!
Also, Lorna is an absolute delight. Would love to see her as a more regular/permanent cast member.
Faramir and Eowyn are definitely briefly shown together in the movies, but it's only obvious that they're together at Aragorn's crowning ceremony right at the end of the last movie.
The end was definitely a better game itself than the game itself :'3
I got basically none of the questions right other than the one about New Zeland being the first country to give women the vote and I screamed like I was from Uraguay in 1930.
This could be a tv quiz show. So much better than some of the dross you come across
Got to play this Friday with Jon at the uk games expo. There was 3 of us that went together plus 3 others we never met its great to get to know people and find out stuff about people you already know. The bluffing adds a nice layer to the trivia definitely backing this one.
As an American, I'm kind of surprised not all knew the Blarney Stone answer. Thought it was a fairly common knowledge thing.
i guessed blarney stone but only did so because of the kissing aspect. i too thought it was for luck and not necessarily persuasion
