- Egyptian ADV rider Omar joined me for a few days riding from Cairo to the White Desert. We got caught in a sand storm but luckily Omar knows Egypt like the back of his hand... So all I had to do was follow him, but under these conditions, I might as well have been blindfolded. When the weather finally cleared up we headed to The White Desert for the night. Was so happy to be back here again… This time with Chillie!

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.

Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. You have a new screen on Chillie after your mishap down the bank. Wow-pretty dusty with all the sand and wind. Egypt would have being really amazing place to see. Thank you for sharing your video and for your friends inviting us into their home. Interesting to hear about the various foods they had on show. Amazing how they build a road which is practically in a sandy desert. It must be a big job keeping the road clear of sand drifts. Great skills riding through the sand, not an easy thing to do although the more nobbly oriented tyres and a little less tyre pressure would probably help. Impressive accommodation before heading to the Nile-looked comfy as. Awesome video-you're a legend.

Yeah when did replace your screen , i liked the busted one . I'm glad your going the safer way but is Egypt safe anyway :-)
Hi Kinga, I was lucky I made that route in 2008 from Kharga to Dakla then to Cairo. There were many police check points and they tried to turn me back, but I got up early and left before they had realised and then I bullshited them at the next police check point, as I said I think I was very lucky. I am very curious to know which road or track you will use to go east to the Nile from Farafra.
