Yes, I do need to get back to the history stuff. I have everything pulled out for the 1968 video just need to make it. Between Spring and yard projects, work (gotta have a day job that pays for all this stuff), mowing, and maintenance my days are pretty full.
As much as “we” hate plastics, I think enough research and technology has gone into them at this point they are fine for some components. Each material has drawbacks. Plastics crack and break, metal bends and dents, fiberglass cracks and breaks. If Wheel Horse was still building machines today I’m guessing there would be plastic.
@@mmrbeef I'm thinking someone needs to build a time machine to take us all back when things where made to last!! Possibly Elon could build it, im ready for a truck that lasts 10 years without rusting!!!
I have a 76' John Deere 400, and man I wish i could just drive over the deck when i had to take it off (which is often). Its such a pain in the rear to have to drag a 60 inch deck sideways out from under it in the grass lol.
Yes, the older decks are a pain.... The 60 decks under the 4-5 tractors I think are just about the worse tied with the 400 decks on most days. Since the 400 deck has no front gauge wheels and the 4-5 gauge wheels are fixed both take a lot of effort to get out from under the tractor.
Even if you slide the guage wheels sideways on a 400, its still quite hard to get out, and the crappy thing is, even after you've got the deck off, you've got to lift the 3 million pound PTO adapter and tiller on it, or if its the snowblade, you have to stand right infront of the exhaust lol, the 400 was not very well thought out but its one helluva tractor. Someday I want to try a 4-5 series, they seem like good tractors as 90% of the people around here in hilly ohio have a 445 lol.
I usually just disconnect the deck and lift the front ot the mower with the skidloader and some straps and slide it out the front. Quicker with the loader. Just make sure the transmission is in neutral.
The 7-Iron decks have historically been green. There are a few other decks that are green from Deere or have been painted green by their owners. But yes, most Deere decks are yellow.
John Deno it's the SE seat from Deere that is available for the X series and other models like commercial mowers etc. I have the same seat on both my 1445 and X748. Great seats for sure. Expensive as all get out though. Milsco makes them. Deere part number BM29410 (I think) you also would need the base with the seat.
Love the tires on the John Deere 👍
Good video. I’ve been trying to put a belt on my 7 iron. I did a screen shot of your deck so now I know the pattern lol.
Those r4s look so good on there! More history lessons when you get the time!!!

I got a red wheel horse that runs great solid steel back when they made a tractor I see that deere has a lot of plastics on it....

How much is a good used tractor like this (with the mower deck) worth ?

I have watch a few of your videos. Nice job. I was wondering why the deck is green. Most are yellow. My 1970 JD 140H3 deck is yellow.

Curious, but why not just leave the deck on with the loader. That’s what I do. Saves storage space.
Is the 45 loader still being sold by John deere?
No it is not. Perhaps a dealer might still have one but that is highly doubtful. The only way to get a 45 loader now is used.
@@mmrbeef do you have any suggestions for buying one?
Toxic Aura craigslist or Facebook marketplace.
@@oe542 thanks
mmrbeef make a video about the rear lights
What would you like to see about them?
What type of seat is that or is it standard on tractor. That suspension looks custom

Had a 748 the suspension on the seat was not what I expected. Have 1025r used suspension from 3xxx made a bracket works good
Hey buddy can you please tell me the name of the company you bought your R4 tires from or website please and thank you
I cannot find where I bought them. It was an online store... from wither Michigan or Ohio... I think. The tires themselves are Carlisle Trac Chiefs.
Miller tires I think is where I got mine.
