Imagine if the Black people spent that time and energy in group economics to get their own building and manage it. Booker T. Washington gave us the blueprint.
Getting a useful education and having self motivation and self discipline is mandatory for ones success. The education can be in the trades or a useful degree. Education in finances is also mandatory so one does not squander the money they make. One must also realize that economic possibilities are always changing. As with computerization of business, robotics becoming more prevalent. As one door starts to close another opens. Being naive, and or ignorant, and un-motivated is not conducive to success.

The major problem I have with Alinsky is that all his agitating still leaves the capitalist system and its overall control over the political domain in place~but would then include groups that were previously marginalized through stagnant american prejudices. That is NOT radical.
Capitalism is a marketplace where everyone gets to participate and attain profit and wealth. Those that know and understand the rules participate and attain their goals, those that don't know or understand the rules, yet still participate, fails to achieve. Race, religion, walk of life, social status, etc. means NOTHING in the Marketplace!
You can't win at Poker (or any other Game) unless you know how to play and have the skills to win.

Finished reading his radical book and goodness I felt justified in my frustrations. Growing up Christian it was impossible to feel understood, as I always struggled with the weight of endless contradictions and saw total apathy masked as spirituality. Thought I was just a sh*tty Christian, but really I just wanted freedom and couldnt lie to myself.
Only wish I could meet people like him in real life, it's a long road to figure it all out on your own. Definitely helps to hear others who aren't faking moral outrage or scoring social justice poits
