Thank youTracey for this clear to follow video. I would like please to understand and evaluate the pro and cons of buying a domain name from Namecheap (or other domain providers) before upgrading to the Wix Premium plan. While in the first year Wix offer free domain name, the domain name price will then increase every year. Do I understand correctly, that by purchasing it from a domain provider, it will be in the long term more cost efficient and portable?
Hi, you’re welcome! 😀 And thank you very much for the questions. We are preparing a post on our website to answer this for you. We’ll let you know as soon as we’ve posted it. Thanks for your patience.
Hi Purple Rain, we have put together an evaluation of the pros and cons of buying a domain name from Namecheap before upgrading to Wix’s premium plan for you. You can check out our answers here: websitewiz.co/wix-domains-vs-namecheap-which-is-cheaper/ Hope this helps you with your domain purchase and we wish you the best of luck with your website! 😃
Hi while YES this was helpful and very well explained for a beginner, honestly I'm a bit 💔. I have my own domain name from Dynadot and can't connect it to WIX without getting an upgrade. Just have to wait till that works out. But this was a really well explained video. I liked the simplicity. 👍
Hi Eric, thank you for your feedback and we’re glad the video was helpful and you liked the simplicity 😊😍 And congratulations on choosing Dynadot. They are one of the cheapest long-term Domain Name providers in the world. As you probably know, their free website builder allows you to connect your own domain name on their most basic (free) plan. That free website will still have Dynadot's advertising on it, and it'll be limited to one page only, but unlike Wix, it comes with a free email address too. But Dynadot requires a lot more technical expertise than Wix does. Unfortunately, you can’t connect a custom domain name from Dynadot (or any other domain name provider) to Wix without paying for a premium plan upgrade. And I think that will be the case from here on out, as that's how Wix keeps the lights on. So, if you’re set on Wix, and you want to connect your own domain name to your website, then paying for the premium upgrade is the only way to go.
Hi Parshad, sure we can. At the moment, we’re working on 2 other videos for the channel, but we can create a video on how to improve SEO for Wix after those are done. To help us answer your question, is there a specific problem you’re facing with regards to Wix SEO that you’d like us to cover?
@@websitewiz the thing is my SEO checklist ticks all boxes except buy domain. Still my site is not on top when I type the keywords! Don't know what is the issue! Really appreciate your time.
Thank you Parshad. We understand that ranking in Google is a common problem most website owners face. There are a lot of aspects to SEO and the Wix checklist covers some of them, but not all. We will do our best to show you how to rank on top for your keywords in the upcoming video. Thanks for your patience.
Hi Cayden, hmm that's strange. The 'Site Address (URL)' field won't appear if you're already using a custom domain for your site. Have you by chance already linked your own domain name to your website?
can you help me out? i change my account name (site name) to the new one, and naturally the old site name is un useable, is there anyway i can redirect that page with old site name to a the new site page? (i tried to use 301 redirect, but in my understanding it only redirect pages/URL, not sites. Or maybe i am wrong, please help me)
Hi, unfortunately you can't redirect from a URL that you don't own. And in this case, because you have changed the account name to something else, you are not able to control the old URL. The only solution we can think of is to contact Wix and see if they can manually change it back to the old account name for you. No guarantees that they can do this, as we've never tried it, but it's worth asking. www.wix.com/contact
Please I now want to upgrade to to premium plan. I mean I wanna buy my domain name... I want to know how to connect my domain name to my wix website.. Please I'll be glad to hear from you!!! Thanks
Hi, there are a couple of ways to connect your domain name to your Wix website, depending on whether you purchased the domain name directly from Wix, or from another domain provider. We've included links below to help you out. Here is how to connect your domain if Wix is your domain provider: support.wix.com/en/article/assigning-a-domain-to-your-wix-site And here is how to connect your domain if you purchased it elsewhere: support.wix.com/en/article/connecting-a-domain-purchased-elsewhere If you haven't yet purchased a domain, we recently reviewed Wix's pricing compared with another domain provider and found that they came out cheaper than Wix for a range of domain names. The domain provider is Namecheap: paulandtracey.co/namecheap-domains When you're ready to upgrade your Wix plan, we'd really appreciate it if you click our affiliate link, just before you do. It doesn’t cost you anything, but it helps us to continue making free, quality content available. Wix will only credit us an affiliate commission within 30 days of hitting the link. Thanks a lot! paulandtracey.co/wix-upgrade
Thank you dear Tracy, it was really helpful. So as a result, what people search in Google, that phrase should be our site address(URL) but not account name , right?
Hi Minoo, glad you found the video helpful! When it comes to your website name using a Wix free plan, the most important idea to keep in mind is that the URL you pick should communicate who you are (ACCOUNT NAME) and what your site is about (SITE NAME). So, if you plan to have only one website under your free account, you could definitely include your MAIN KEYWORD PHRASE in your account name, such as: (MainKeywordPhrase).WixSite.com/(WhatYouDo) But if you plan on having multiple websites under the one account, for different topics, then it would make more sense to use the account name to communicate who you are and have the site name communicate what you do, such as: (WhoYouAre).WixSite.com/(WhatYouDo) (WhoYouAre).WixSite.com/(WhatElseYouDo) Etc. We hope this helps.
Hi Tracey, My question is if I have 5 landing pages in Wix, so for all those 5 landing pages domain will be same and only at the end my site will change rite is it correct, Please clarify me.
Hi Srinath, yes that's correct. If you have 5 landing pages set up as individual websites within Wix, the end part of each domain name will be unique and will be the 'site-name' you choose.
Hi TRiNARAMiREZ, great question! From what we can tell you can’t change your account name or site name using the Wix app. It can be done through the browser on your mobile device though, following the steps in the video.
Hi Plasm, on any mobile device such as an iPhone, you can change your Account Name and/or Site Name using a browser, such as Safari or Chrome. Also, you can’t update them in the Wix app on a mobile device, as these account settings are only accessible when logged in via a browser. Hope this helps and thanks for the question!
Hi Ariel, thanks for your question. We just need a little bit more information. In the domain format: ACCOUNT-NAME.wixsite.com/SITE-NAME do you mean the ‘ACCOUNT-NAME’ part, or the ‘SITE-NAME’ part of your domain, or both?
@Nyctophile Selenophilia Hi there! Yes, it is possible. We created a video tutorial for you showing you how here: ruclips.net/video/WNzcGbA1w6I/видео.html Let us know if you have any questions at all.
Hi Pal Labs Official, any chance the account name you’ve chosen is one you’ve already used previously? Wix doesn’t allow you to change your account name back to a previous one and this could be why. Also, it won’t allow the change, if the name is already in use by another Wix account. When you click Save (video time stamp: 02:25), if there is an issue, Wix will usually provide an alert as to why. Do you see any comment in the pop up box?
