I purcnased one of these. It drove around a dozen nails then quit. I returned it and got a replacement. The replacement drove eight nails and quit. I called Ryobi and took their advice and returned it to a different HD store for a second replacement. This one works. Both of the failed ones were from the same manufacturing run. The failure mode was: the gun cycled but the hammer never moved to drive the nail.
Me too. I have a ton of Ryobi 18v tools but no nailers. I HAVE the two difrent staplers that are blue, ones capable of brads. I use em both. But for nailers i have a Paslode framing & Finnish nailers
I've had my AirStrike nailer for about 3 years now and I love it so much I don't think I need to go out and buy the newer model. I use it every chance I get.
@@ToolReviewZone Hey Clint Skil has an Auto Hammer 😯 AH6552A-10, yes a battery operated hammer 🤯. Saw it con "Carplumbtrician channel" today, your viewers will foam 🧼 (no soap required) at the mouth for this tool!!! I know I'm getting one for sure, "real nice like"...
Love that these work so well. I have pneumatic nailers, but end up leaving them at home because it's just too much trouble to transport with my current vehicle. Been wanting a battery powered nailer for a long time, but the Milwaukee's are so friggin expensive.
I have angled finish nailer, Brad nailer, pin nailer, and lastly the crown stapler. I use the fire out of all of them and have not had a single issue with any of them. And to think how much cheaper they are than the major brands, but no difference in quality. It’s a win in my book.
Could you please do a side-by-side comparison of the P320 & P321? Specifically, I'd like to see size difference and highlight what was changed and how much better the new one is. PS: I'd buy a Ryobi framing nailer in a heartbeat.
I had Ryobi 18v stuff about 10 years ago. Business took off, and I jumped platform to the yellow and black stuff. Seemed like there were more options for what I needed at the time. About 3 years ago, my business partner, who is a yellow and black guy, showed up with a Ryobi 18g nailer at the job site. I was so impressed, I went and bought one for myself and dug out my old green stuff, and started using it again too. Fast forward to today, and I have a lot invested in both platforms. I like where Ryobi is headed. Some of the yellow tools are still better, but the yellow co. seems to be a little stagnant with innovation, and it seems like there’s a new green tool I want, every time I look. I now have a lot more green than yellow. I will get one of these new brushless nailers, ASAP. As for a framing nailer, I haven’t been able to bring myself to drop the big bucks for the yellow one, and I’m waiting patiently for the green one to come out. I’ll use my my old Hitachi framing nailer until then.. thanks for the video!
I'm a 51-year-old general contractor. I bought this gun ( the non-brushless) version last spring. Use it mainly for putting trim back up, when I put in new windows or entry doors, It has worked flawlessly. I have a paslode impulse also but hardly use it, because the fuel cells are always out of date and I have to go buy new ones. I actually prefer this one better.
I have the older brushed 18g brad nailer, and it’s been phenomenal. I would be curious to see a size comparison between that and the brushless HP version.
Thanks for the awesome review, I just bought it myself, my wife wants new baseboards and I said fine but I need a Brad Nailer (Ryobi of course) she was fine with it, so I didn't have to buy it and hide it from her 😂
I have the Ryobi finish, brad and pin nailers. They all rock. The only issue I had was when I accidentally put 18g brad nails in the 16g finish nailer but that’s obviously a me problem 🙄. Hoping they make a finish nailer to round out the set not that I’d have a lot of use for it but I’d find an excuse to buy it.
Yes I got the same problem, when the tempratur gets below 10 degrees celcius it stops working. It can hold on fore a longer period if its warm from start and lubricated with siliconeoil. I ges the lubricant is sensetiv to temperature and sticks. Else I love it :-)
yes, I would like to see a framing nailer. BTW, while I won quite few RYOBI cordless tools the one thing I don’t like is there batteries… they tend go brain dead too easily requiring me to disassemble them to wake up the batteries and reset the onboard bms.
I have the older brad nailer and it's great. I've used it to build shelving in my garage to get everything lined up to add screws, two creates for Halloween decorations and molding on two bathroom remodels. YES!!!!! on the framing nailer!
I have a P320 brad nailer and the 16 ga finish nailer. After owning the brad nailer for 6 months with light use on a few projects, it stopped reliably firing. It would make the same sound as if it’s shooting a nail, but wouldn’t fire. I tried loading/unloading, opening the jam clearance flap, swapping batteries, etc. Nothing. It would fire a nail maybe 1 out of every 20-30 attempts. HD just swapped it out for me for a new one. I had hoped the P321 would have replaced the P320 by now, but they only had the P320 available. Hope I don’t have the same issue again in a few months. The finish nailer has been used on one project and it’s worked very well, albeit a bit bulky.
Yes on the framing nailer. I have retired from contracting, and never want to plug in a skil saw or an air compressor again. Gimme cordless any time for my DIY projects. Framing up a 3 story hillside? Well, no - but I am never doing that again.
The older version is the only real Ryobi tool I use normally. I own a vac, air pump and string trimmer by Ryobi, but only now and again. The older one has never jammed on me once in 2 years. I used it this past summer to put up tongue and groove end walls on a green house. One wall is about the size of a 2 car garage. 1 4.0 lasted one entire side on installation, slamming them in all day. It's big, it's only downside.
I bought my son-in-law a Bostitch framer when he started finishing out the basement in their house. I'm holding out for a Ryobi, mainly because I already have 3 other Ryobi nailers.
I had the non hp brad nailer and finish nailer. Never had a problem aside from feeding the wrong gage nails to its' proper gun. My bad. Then some asshat decided he needed them more than me and broke my window and left me about 5 green tools lighter in my quiver. The only silver lining is getting to replace the brad with the new hp and the finish with the updated version. Thats the current state of Portland Oregon. Its a nightly battle in this hood.
Funny that this came out today….I was just in Home Depot looking at one today. I have a Porter Cable unit, about 8 y.o., but is air pump dependent. Nothing wrong with mine, but it is a pain to fire the compressor for a few minute use. This Btry operated would fill the short bill.
The overmold on my gen1 started to melt and is now sticky. Both tips have degraded and broke. However, it has TWO leds. Still works and still can drop on your foot.
Hey, I know the feel. This happened to my Milwaukee brad nailer, soooooo now I’m lookin for something else. Part of the plastic also turned brittle and disintegrated. :(
For an occasional user like me, this nailer has been excellent as are all the other 18 plus tools I bought. Is it possible to develop a framing nailer using a battery that can handle the extra abuse?
I was in need of a battery brad nailer and the dewalt cost more than a complete kit with compressor. I got used ryobi 18g, leaf blower, inflator and one cheap battery for $115 best money I ever spent
😅😅 I luv your videos Bruh. I just bought the brushless version and I love it. Dude, I saw the video in which you sang your ryobi song with your guitar 😆. Dude, You funny ass hell and very informative. Keep on posting
Bring a FRAMER!!! I own a Ryobi 16 Air Strike love it and a 22 year old Paslode Impulse framer. Paslode is excellent but I'd go with a Ryobi immediately if and when they bring it. Totally vested in Ryobi 18+1.
I use to think just like you Claude that the Airstrikes are great 👍 bought the old brad gun and narrow crown stapler. Used em like crazy over the summer, never a jam or misfire. Then winter came and I left them in my packout that primarily sits in an unheated sun room. After 2-3 months of no use I pulled the brad out to nail up a project I was working on. Dammed thing wouldn’t fire, so I grabbed the stapler as the glue was drying, same story. So I sent them out under warranty which costs you $30 per tool (I know odd warranty where you gotta pay, don’t remember ever hearing about that and yes you get it back when your tools come back) so two month later they come back. When I spoke to a guy on the 800 line he told me you have to use these nailer monthly or the seals harden up and that they are not a contractor grade tool (kinda odd to say not contractor grade but if you want them to work you gotta use the hell out of em) he basically said once a month fire a good 20 nails or staplers through it. Idk I think the cold had something to do with it. Thankfully I have a compressor and now a new brad gun but I don’t know about these anymore. Like I said I use to be in the camp that these things were one of the best values out there, 1/2 the price of Milwaukee but now I don’t know. Just throwing my experience out there…
Damn brother, that's not good. I'm going to do a temperature test for sure. Couple others mentioned issues in cold weather with them, so ima see. Always appreciate your feedback brother 👊👊👊
A Ryobi framing nailer would ruin the competition. The price point for what you get from Ryobi is probably the best value out of any tool brand. I'm not saying they are the best tool brand but the best value. Also that voice change was on point😂
Iriginally got the gen1 on sale for 189, then found a tool only on clearance for 88 bucks......haven't killed either yet. The freedom to kill deficiencies without a compressor on a big job site ina pinch is a money maker! Same goes for the 23g.
shit sounds so clean n smooth,, n the bump action on it is amazing .. hopefully you've had it a while n got a good feel for the tool,so ya can answer this;;,, how would you rate this vs their reg 18g brad nailer? is there that big a difference in performance to justify replacing a perfectly good nailer for the brushless version?
n yeah! i was hoping after seeing this hp nailer, that they'd drop a hp version of their whole lineup, plus some new'nz lol. love the 15ga, all they gotta do is throw a heftier airstrike n diff magazine to make it a framing nailer,, idk why they haven't yet... since nailers are one of the tools ryobi does very very well
The air strike nailers are game changers! And for the price, u can't beat them. But YES they need a framing nailer for sure! Been waiting for yrs for one. When are they planning on releasing one?
C’mon Clint you didn’t even have them at the same level when saying the Milwaukee was longer … HaHaa I’ll keep my red nailers … great video brother have a great weekend … back to work now ✌🏼👊🏼👊🏼🔨🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hi Clint How's it going Brother great video my mate, I love Ryobi tools some Real Nass stuff there I have the 16 & 18 gage Ryobi nailer’s had them some time now and both have never missed a beat great bit of kit well worth the money. Great video as alway mate 🍺🍺🍺🍺
I have the previous RYOBI 18GA AirStrike brad nailer and it's been great without any issues, I may have to look into that brushless version cause it's real nasss like 🙌🏽💪🏽 Smeeesh that like button. 👀👉🏼 👍🏽
these ryobi nailers all work great on thin wood. But in my experience they tend not to have the power to fully sink 2 inch nails in hard woods. Went with the m18 gen 2 and it will put the nails through anything consistently. (which the ryobi had problems with too.)
I borrowed an 18g ryobi nailer for a baseboard project and it worked fine, even with 2" nails. I was happy to see that it hardly took any battery life. My only complaint is that the front end of it is kind of bulky so it was harder to get into corners or flat near the floor.
Have had their Finish Nailer for 3 years. No jams ever. Mid level DIY guy... many projects. I'd expect this unit to perform just as well. Ps Clint - if you ever do another the Irish accent, ima SMEESH you in the twig and berries --- respectfully, Sully
Thought I was watchin an Irish spring commercial! 🤣 Was just using mine yesterday! LOVE IT! No surprise there! And what's up with no framing nailer?! Next year maybe?
This thing might work but it is a lot heavier than pneumatic. If you are crawling around for a few hours installing baseboard that battery weight adds up. I tried using the Ryobi finish nailer and I'd estimate 3/4 nails were countersunk, correctly. My Ridgid pneumatic sinks 99/100. I tried the Ridgid framing nailer, #1 it weighs about ten pounds and just does not have the same ease of use as the pneumatic. I really like battery-electric drills, impact drivers, angle grinders, and even skill saws but for nailing, I just do not have the same experience as pneumatic. A small-ish six-gallon pancake compressor and a couple of pneumatic nailers just work better for me.
Come on Ryobi! (Rye-Obi) I want Framing Nailer!! And a first ever Worm Drive Saw from Ryobi!!! I wouldn't mind if it's Corded! Hell I love corded a lot better than cordless saws! I wouldn't mind Milwaukee, Makita and Bosch Guys laughs at me for using Ryobi in the jobsite!! I'm still waiting for Ryobi Cordless Brushless 18V HP Framing Nailer! And corded Worm drive saw.
I just bought one of these to replace an older brushed model (it's probably 5 or 6 years old), and I've found that the brushless nailer can barely bury the nail in the wood (I've adjusted it for max shooting depth and power), my old brushed nailer on the other hand will shoot the same nail in the same board well below the surface. Has anyone else noticed this?
I’m digging the shorter profile. I’d be interested in a 15 gauge nailer in those dimensions. Hardwood flooring people use the crap out of 15 ga when they get close to the wall. All the new battery nailers have too LONG of a profile to get that “shweet” angle next to the wall. I would certainly trade in some length for girth on one of those.
Guys, should i use some oil before i use this tool ? Because i have one of these, working on my first project, (insulated wooden house) but its like, the normal 2 amp batteries with 3 bar cant shoot a brad, and then the LED is blinking. After the 5Ah with 3 bar, shot 1 nail, and again, blinking the LED. Anyone, any suggestion :) ?
@@ToolReviewZone But priced so it doesn't make much sense to me. I can't see them hitting a price for a framing nailer that would entice those who use them.
This is one tool I can't tell you if it's good I bought 3 all 3 will not drive nail all the way in . I can't blame the tool yet . but haven't bought a new one use my air nailer now. I was installing trim around fiber glassed walls shooting nails through trim a fiberglass layer then wall I never had them cover one of them under warranty I figgered this was abuse. .You guys tell me is this abuse of tool or should it handle it.
Irish Spring Green? Sounds like a Velociraptor? Single shot and Rambo Mode Bump Fire? What’s not to love?!? Gold at the end of the rainbow. Real Nass Like. P.S. Yes, you should get full credit if Rye-obi comes out with a framing nailer.
Anyway to do a cold temperature test with the nailers? Only problem I’ve had with my ryobi nailers is when it’s below freezing they don’t sink all the way
Probably the batteries. Every battery platform I own does the same. To cold, they don't charge, but never really had an issue with getting them to work on the Tool if to cold
@@ToolReviewZone yeah I bought those cordless nailers to get away from hoses and compressors but I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do when it’s cold. But my metabo cordless framer for instance (cuz ryobi don’t make one cough cough) works just fine in the cold.
Oh Clint, you craic me up, you sound just like us! Are you seriously in Ireland? I thought you were going to call for a pint, I promised you at least one 😂
@@ToolReviewZone haha I did watch the video while half asleep so must have misheard. Presume so you’ll be doing a Patrick’s day special? I’ll have to try and find you a tool actually made here for you to review!

these ryobi nailers all work great on thin wood. But in my experience they tend not to have the power to fully sink 2 inch nails in hard woods. Went with the m18 gen 2 and it will put the nails through anything consistently. (which the ryobi had problems with too.)
I got a refurb one from HD...works great....a bit on the heavy side thou....cant go wrong with the pruce either...
so which one is better? the P321 or the P322.. seems like they skipped over the p321 in canada
Framing Nailer became available in March 2023. However I waited until the extended capacity clip became available before I bought it.
You totally nailed that classic Pakistani-Irish brogue!
🤣👊
I borrowed an 18g ryobi nailer for a baseboard project and it worked fine, even with 2" nails. I was happy to see that it hardly took any battery life.
My only complaint is that the front end of it is kind of bulky so it was harder to get into corners or flat near the floor.
Ditto
I want the framing nailer, even if it requires a 40V battery.
Have had their Finish Nailer for 3 years. No jams ever. Mid level DIY guy... many projects. I'd expect this unit to perform just as well. Ps Clint - if you ever do another the Irish accent, ima SMEESH you in the twig and berries --- respectfully, Sully
🤣🤣🤣 noted 🤣👊👊
How does bit stack up to the previous model?
Thought I was watchin an Irish spring commercial! 🤣
Was just using mine yesterday! LOVE IT! No surprise there! And what's up with no framing nailer?! Next year maybe?
Hahaha, I'm going to apply for the next audition 😅 😄 😆 Definitely would be cool to see a framing nailer
I’d love to see a HP 23g & 16g straight nailer to join this as well as a narrow crown stapler in 18g.
can us use plastic/composite nails in it for securing thing on a cnc
Yes! They NEED a good framing Nailer in the line-up
I have all the ryobi nailers and love them! I have the t50 stapler as well which is great. If buy the framing gun as soon as it was out for sure!!
When this new model will be available? Thanks!
I e got the older one and love it! Guess an update couldn't hurt!!
Let me know if you get it and what you think brother 👊👊👊
I love my Ryobi Brad nailer, but I don’t think it has a bump mode. I did a video about mine as well.
Hell yes I want a framing nailer!!!
How has the room lasted ? Any issues anyone that has own the new brushless one ?
I just bought one of these to replace an older brushed model (it's probably 5 or 6 years old), and I've found that the brushless nailer can barely bury the nail in the wood (I've adjusted it for max shooting depth and power), my old brushed nailer on the other hand will shoot the same nail in the same board well below the surface. Has anyone else noticed this?
I have the same nailer works great. Wish they would make a framing nailer.
Me too 😪
I’m digging the shorter profile.
Awesome feedback brother 👍
Guys, should i use some oil before i use this tool ? Because i have one of these, working on my first project, (insulated wooden house) but its like, the normal 2 amp batteries with 3 bar cant shoot a brad, and then the LED is blinking. After the 5Ah with 3 bar, shot 1 nail, and again, blinking the LED. Anyone, any suggestion :) ?
yes a framing nailer plz
Ryobi framing nailer yes, please!
The 16g sucks the 18g Brad is amazing 👏
Have one, it's awesome!
The episode description says this is the P320. Is it not the new P321 that was supposed to be released six months ago?
Thought the same thing
That is the P322
And I do have one and it is a very good tool to have!
Great experience
I've really liked the older version of this brad nailer. For a framing nailer... would they really want to step on Milwaukee toes?
They did with the li k/packout system 🤣
@@ToolReviewZone But priced so it doesn't make much sense to me. I can't see them hitting a price for a framing nailer that would entice those who use them.
When will it be available? The P321 is still not out yet.
It's on the Depot site. Left a link in the description 👊
I felt that wink... just say'n. :)
Hahahaha 👊 🤣
This is one tool I can't tell you if it's good I bought 3 all 3 will not drive nail all the way in . I can't blame the tool yet . but haven't bought a new one use my air nailer now. I was installing trim around fiber glassed walls shooting nails through trim a fiberglass layer then wall I never had them cover one of them under warranty I figgered this was abuse. .You guys tell me is this abuse of tool or should it handle it.
Whenever you go Rambo mode I get anxiety that it will hit another nail and jam lol but great video. And I too will always pronounce it rye-ow-be
Firstly, I always worry about that too 🤣 second, you are thr man 92🤣🤣👊👊
Ryobi would be smart to make their framing nailer a 40 volt job.
….it’s kind of hard to believe Craftsman beat them to the punch on a Framing Nailer.
Hahaha, James 🤣🤣👊
I know right
Anyway to do a cold temperature test with the nailers? Only problem I’ve had with my ryobi nailers is when it’s below freezing they don’t sink all the way
It would be nice to know if other brands have the issue
Yeah I've had a problem with them not wanting to fire in the freezing cold having to pop the battery out put it back in then it would fire
@@incognitonunya8467 hahaha, I've heard Metabo makes some awesome nailers. I will say, I've never used one...but I may need to check them out 👊👊👊
Oh Clint, you craic me up, you sound just like us! Are you seriously in Ireland? I thought you were going to call for a pint, I promised you at least one 😂
Hahaha my broke butt can afford Ireland, but would love to go. I'm half Irish and would be awesome to visit brother. We will definitely grab a pint👊
@@ToolReviewZone haha I did watch the video while half asleep so must have misheard. Presume so you’ll be doing a Patrick’s day special? I’ll have to try and find you a tool actually made here for you to review!
Damn! I just bought the previous gen yesterday! I didn’t see this one. Do u know what the release date is for the new one?
I'll double check and let you know brother 👊
I didn’t have time to look it over really well, but I’m pretty sure I looked at one in my Home Depot last weekend.
I saw the new brushless HP on the Home Depot website today. Not available at my local Depot though. Online only. $179 bare tool.
I will have to get one and like everyone else I want the framing nailer
First air strike works ok when new but quickly messed up. I wore 3 our before I went to dewalt. Dewalt got stolen so went to metabo and it's better than either
Thanks for the feedback David! 👊
