I believe "qu" is better sounded as "ku" instead of "kw" as it makes blending easier. Examples; 1. Ku-ee-n for Queen 2. Ku-ai-l for Quail. What do you think?
No, I would not say “ku” for the qu combination. That would make queen “keen” and quail “kale” (unless you are pronouncing your u a different way, which I also would not recommend).
