    Interesting rifle Cervus I know a guy that has his own machine shop he could probably make some basses for a scope mount on that. Be safe buddy and GOD BLESS y’all Amen 🙏

    It is so weird that you are shooting this. 2 weeks ago I asked our friends T&T and HMS about this exact same caliber. The difference is the one I was asking about was made in 1917.
    T&T turned me on to a channel that knows more than anyone probably about the Carcano and HMS added some info! It's a MF'er when you get it sighted but it's also the same to GET it sighted!
    Great Video Cervus... I enjoyed it a lot!

      I've got two options on changing the zero on the sights. I have another rear sight on the way that I plan to modify. I can also get a blank front sight blade. That seems like the easiest option, but I'll just have to wait and see. I'd love to get it where it is zeroed at 100 yards. Then I could use that thing for popping a pig or two. I don't want to screw with the original sights so that is why i am looking for replacements. If I could find a way to put a red dot on it I may do that.

      @@cervus-venator I've tried to figure a way to mount a red/green dot but it won't be an easy process and I like easy...lol. It also won't be aesthetically pleasing but I don't think the pigs will notice. I know from the friend that owns it that I'm trying daily to buy it from it will drop a hog like a bad habit @ 150 yds. I thought about new sights but my thought was I'd still have basically the same problem. I don't know what to do either. So I gave up and poured a double of Single Barrel lol. Tomorrow is another day!

      Thanks. I ordered my 100 rounds from a guy in Indiana. It worked out to be about $30 per box of 20 PPU brand. That's about what any hunting round is going for these days. I'd love to shoot a pork chop with this little gun. Thanks.

    The 6.5 is an accurate bullet. Just beginning watching. Did you acquire that vintage rifle recently? I saw where there was a batch that hit our shores.
    You have quite a collection of non-committal arms to the typical southern hunter!

      I got it from my mother's house. We were cleaning it out for an estate sale and I found it in a back room. It was my step-father's and I have no idea where or when he got it. It has no import markings that I can find and it is a lot cleaner than the ones I've seen for sale recently. This thing shoots quite well too. If I can figure out the sighting of this thing, I'll use it pig hunting sometime. Thanks for watching.

      Great find Cervus. It would make a very accurate deer rifle once you get the vector part worked out.

  • @randlerichardson5826

    It would be hard to put a scope on that but it could be done

    • @cervus-venator
      @cervus-venator  3 года назад

      Yeah, the Oswald one had a side mount scope on it. It has to be 90 degrees off center because of the way you load it with the en bloc clips.

    I love Milsurp!!!! This I don't own yet .Beautiful rifle ! Wish I had a range out my property 😒. I use the PPU Garand loading M2 ball spec in My M1 Garand. Battle field set sites are a pain. Thanks Cervus!

      Yeah, I want to make some adjustments so that I can shoot it for 100 yards and not a 1/4 mile. Would love and M1.

    You're gonna have to get to know that rifle well, to turn it into a "hunter" allowing for distance variances in elevation holds.
    I'm thinking, lol, in Florida's thick swamps, that bayonet might come in handy when "bull fighting" with the hogs! Gives new meaning to CQB.

    • @cervus-venator
      @cervus-venator  3 года назад +1

      That's what my friend said about the bayonet. He said I use that to finish it off with. I've got a plan on the sighting of the rifle. If it pans out I'll do a video on it.

    Put the very top of your front sight at the bottom of your rear sight v and you should be good at 100 meters

      Thanks David, after doing a lot of research (after this video) I've found that was the common process with these guns. I need to test that. It may make a decent video and especially if i can hit the target. I just used good old Kentucky (windage) Elevation to hit the target, but have a very common and reliable process to get me on at a certain yardage will allow me to actually use the gun to harvest a pig. That would be cool to do.

    What a waste of expensive ammo. Ditch the steel plate. Use a 4x4 FEET white cardboard target with an aiming point in the centre to start with. You are all steady with a sandbag but your target is horrible since it does not tell you how far you have missed. You also keep changing the range. Then when you know you are shooting high, you shoot standing unsupported and you hit a couple! We have no idea how well this rifle groups at say 50 yards.

      Good advice Tim! Let me know when you post a video showing how it is done.
