The Royal family paid for the wedding themselves. The only bit paid for out of public tax was the policing. It was barely anything compared to the billions of tax spent on policing football matches each year. I hate football but I don't mind paying the tax to police it because I realise that it's not always all about what I like. If the public enjoy an event then so be it, it needs policing. Also, the Royal estates put approximately 3 times more into the tax pot with tourism than they take out. If we didn't have royals we would be a Republic with a presidency. Presidents cost just as much as royalty to upkeep yet don't bring in as many tourists so we're actually better off financially keeping this lot. Love them or hate them, we're better if with them.
