  • Another time lapse over two weeks of continuous filming. Pinguicula Gigantea pullings are a great way to propagate your plants. I was always curious how many days it takes for my pulling to strike. Now, that is possible to see first hand.
Quality of this GoPro is a lot better than Wyze, however there is a large cost difference for each camera. I am not surrprised, however I would like to get a better close up of the subject I am doing a time lapse on. I continue to research.
    Camera: GoPro Hero 7 Black
    Time Lapse interval: 5 min
    Days: 18
    Thanks for watching

Very cool! I've been experimenting with time lapses of my carnivorous plants for the past 6 months using WyzeCam V2 and then WyzeCam V3, and like you say, not great quality. They're just not meant for close-ups and that's what you want with these types of videos--close-ups and detail. I can't afford a GoPro so am trying to figure out a moderately priced solution. No dice so far. I suppose a nice SLR is what we really need. Your GoPro looks a lot better than the Wyze at least!

Totally agree with you. Does take some experimenting. I do have a SLR camera and may want to try. I was conflicted at the beginning because I didn’t want to deal with 1000+ images and put them all together. Hence the GoPro. Though if I want to get that close up like all the other cool time lapses I see, then I gotta take the plunge and try. Thanks for watching my vid. Appreciate the comment.

nice video, cool that they strike... have to try this too with some of my Pings, did you light them 24h/day?

For this time lapse, I had a small lamp next to GoPro to record all night. Typically, if the pings are on my shelf, they will get 12 hrs of white LED lights.

I loved this video. Can I ask the spagnum moss is it a specific type and do you keep lid on them while they're under a light?
Sorry for the questions I've never done pinguicula leaf pullings before

Thanks for watching. This is regular sphagnum moss that I bought a local nursery. I believe the package said it was new Zealand. I've bought several different types and hasn't made a difference that I've noticed.

Have you tried sphagnum moss? Or is this easier?

I do both ways. I did transfer the pullings after the time lapse into a new sphagnum moss container. I choose paper towel method for the time lapse to see the strike better. When I use sphagnum moss, typically I press the end of the pulling into moss, which is harder to see. But most of the time I use sphagnum moss for my propagations. Right now I have four trays of pullings all in moss. Thanks for watching my video.
