- Welcome back - thanks for joining me again! This week, we are climbing Benarty Hill - on the border of Fife and Perth & Kinross. We get some amazing panoramic views from the summit and look down upon Lochleven Castle, where some incredible events in Scottish history took place.
Explore this snowy terrain with me and watch as my painting of a Reed Bunting comes to life.

Jack always looks so handsome. The contrast of his jet black fur and the crispy white snow make for lovely photo shots of him. The countryside looked so beautiful giving off a serene feeling. Another great video and absolutely wonderful painting. 🥰🙏🐕🇺🇸
We had a little dog, years ago, who loved to play in the snow. Her name was Bopper. She had long fur; and she would dig holes and tunnels under the snow. Bopper would not enjoy the Winters we have now. Thank you for another enjoyable walk. That is a beautiful painting. I have never seen a bird like it.

A beautiful expected journey, with the exuberant Jack of hearts, accompanied by the anguished sobbing of the dispossessed lady of the lake, imprisoned in a snowy paradise, we all bear witness to the peaceful saga of Sarah.

What a day you had, crisp but sunny, glad you had your sunglasses on. Jack as always never stopping and Willie's soundtrack fits so well. And your wee Geordie as well. I have missed my walks since I moved to the city. Love taking them with you. Brings back wonderful memories of birds singing, my dog running all over and just enjoying the simple beauty of the day 💕. At least Jack is sweet enough to wait for you though I have a feeling they all think we are too slow. And a very photogenic young boy. Once again the details are what makes your art. Beautiful 😊.

Only Mr. Spaniels could find a 🎾 on a mountain hillside slope…a thimbleful of that boys energy could fuel an entire marathon race! Absolutely stunning woodland scenery and beautiful summit, gorgeous. Loved getting to hear the birds. Such a pleasant outing captured and shared magnificently, thanks for sharing the beautiful escape from daily drudgery! Splendid bird painting, quite lifelike. Budgie Cherokee is ill, she’s diagnosed with tumors in her little body and nothing can be done. Dr gave us steroid and baby bird food to ease her. She is stable now, but my little sweethearts time of life is nearly filled. You, Willie and Jack are so helpful in giving a happy, energetic and fun time to help me keep a peaceful outlook. That is a lovely area. In my youth I walked all the way round Loch Leven right on the very shoreline most of the way - parents were not amused when I got home covered in mud. These days I'm hard pushed to make 100 yards without needing a rest.
Ha! You sound like Willie - always coming home covered in mud...That sounds like a long walk - maybe we will get round to that one day!

I absolutely love the way Jack poses so beautifully for photos - when I try to take pictures of my dog Buster he goes into doofus mode and runs and gets his toy duck and gets all hyper, I'm sure he knows what he's doing and tries to fool my plans lol.
When you were sitting on that wee bench, it looked and sounded like you were at the most peaceful place on earth.
Your Reed Bunting was just gorgeous, it really looked like fluffy textured feathers, just amazing.

Another beautiful place! You sure do live in a scenic area. I love that you have so many paths and hikes open to the public. I look forward to your trip back there in the summer to kayak. Does Jack go with you on those trips too? The coffee shop is adorable. As I've mentioned before it's just as much fun for me to see the places you stop, and the yummy goodies you get, as it is to see the hike and the trails. You have truly hit upon the perfect combination with your hikes, cafés, art work, and Jack. It's just so much fun. I look forward to it each week. It's such a stress reliever in a crazy world. Thank so very much! Not least of all though...I really LOVE your latest painting. I will purchase, as a pair, both of your bird paintings as soon as I can afford to. ;-D

Goodness that brings back lovely memories. Used to climb there often. I went to Kinross high school. I love Loch Leven, used to be a wee boat that took you over to the castle. Outstanding painting as always. Thank you x
Thanks Sylvia! It’s lovely there isn’t it? I think the boat will be back in the summer, but we often just use our kayak! We will go back when there are more flowers out (and hopefully less snow!)

Been driving past the Sleeping giant for the best part of 40 years. Never even realized there was access from the other side. Really fancy a wild camp on top. Hows the ground. Any nice flat spots to pitch a small tent ?? Thanks.

Have you read "A Walk in the Woods?" about hiking the Applachian Trail? It was made into a movie (book is funnier) with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. My eldest daughter and har dad have hiked parts of it.

Ps. Do you know why the locks where up there?
I believe they are love locks - there's a tradition where couples leave a padlock with their initials on locked to a structure in a public place (usually a bridge or a viewpoint) and they throw away the key, to symbolise never-ending love!
I always notice you sign your name in pencil is there a reason for that?
Thanks for your lovely comment Diane! So glad you are enjoying my videos 😊 I’m not sure exactly why I use a pencil - I just always have. I think because my work is quite small and delicate, using a black pen would stand out too much and draw attention away from the subject. The pencil mark is more subtle, but I do use a hard pencil, so it’s difficult to erase! Sarah x
