It's cut in the anime but in the books every major city he visits has a slave market and it's not against the law there (Rudeus often comments about them whenever he reaches a new city). If you recall, that's how it used to be in our world too. Slavery was only abolished relatively recently (not like it doesn't still exist illegally). He would have gotten into a whole lot of trouble if he tried to break out the slaves (both with the company selling them and maybe even the city authorities).
Omg you're guys amazing. How the way you react on the slavery in this episode. You guys understand that Rudeus was already used to all this stuff and he can't do anything about it. Its not like he agree with this all stuff but he can't do anything about it, because its already a part of this world and need to living in this world. The Author really showing how this World actually working. Because back then we also have this kinda stuff. I'm sure back then there's alot of people disagree with Slavery but they also can't do anything about it and just need to used to this kinda stuff.
Even in our history, when some kings or rulers tried to abolish slavery abruptly, more often than not they were disposed of, it s not something as simple as just breaking them out. Rudeus had a very realistic take on how to deal w slavery, but too bad the anime cut out a lot of his thought process on this matter
As you mentioned, slavery is common in most places in the world except Milishion (officially, at least). Rudeus recalls back to when he was in Shirone, and as he was being escorted to see Pax, they passed by an outdoor slave trade camp. All the maids working for Sauros were also slaves. Purchased most likely from same type of kidnappers that Rudeus met in the Great Forest.
Illegal slavery are people who are kidnapped and put as slave. Legal slavery are people who sold themselves are in major dept and is put as slaves to pay them off. The reasons he cant free them is cuz he'd be in trouble with all existing slave market along with multiple kindoms and authorities
The difference in the slave situations was that one was kidnapping (which is illegal), and the other is debt slavery (which is legal). If he tried to destroy the market and free the slaves, he would be branded a criminal and would have to make enemies of powerful nations.
And ending slavery isn't feasible in this setting either because the slave trade probably contributes a lot to the economy. And if one were to try to end slavery, you can expect to get a lot of pushback from powerful people like the nobility. And as Ariel's backstory and Sauros's fate shows us, the nobility have no problems with killing you if you stand in their way. The world just isn't ready for a movement like ending slavery.
It's not that simple, Rudeus doesn't have Ruijerd's age and self-confidence, assuming Rudeus freeing all the slaves, fighting with that kingdom, supposing he can beat everyone, how he will feed them, give them homes, many will not have a way to return to their kingdoms and die.
The sheer amount of visualization and mana needed to create those figurines is just absurd, Rudeus creates materia from nothing and that's so mana consuming, for him it's a "given" since he has such a large mana pool but for others it's just an impossible task.
Even Sylphie trying to imitate Rudeus, only to end up in failure, was an extraordinary feat. Even king-tiered mages would struggle to do that. Sylphie also has an exceptionally large mana pool, but nowhere close to Rudeus. When Roxy tried to silently cast back in season 1, she couldn't even produce water, let alone shape it.
What are you talking about? You can clearly see that he is uncomfortable with the situation and isnt really happy about it at 11:26. This scene clearly shows that, there is no need to tell us that. Just use a bit of logic and everyone should know that Rudy cant do anything about it.
@@teongreen5254 Yeah, except nobody bothers to do that. Everyone piles on Rudeus for not blowing the market to shreds or whatever they think they'd do. It's adopted poorly because part of an adaptation is recognizing your audience.
im always surprised about how much of a shock this episode is for most of the reactors but i dont get why, does nobody have before watched any piece of media where there is slavery ,killing, kidnaping etc....i dont get it
Really? But it's one of the most interesting ones. Rudy's resolution to kill the girl if that is what she wanted was so deep. I must say, in the Light novel they show more of the inner narrative that sadly got cut for the anime.
@@ElyonDominus This and the next are definitely the weakest/most controversial, right next to him touching Eris on the haystack. Hell, other than Ars, I'd say that they are the most controversial within the entire book series.

Saoros actually would give his slaves freedoms
My girl friend and I watched all your Mushoku tensi reaction We loved her so much❤❤
I personally find the funniest thing in this episode is that the figure Rudeus holds at 5:44 is a female version of himself
Yeah Girldeus has big boobs and brown hair. LOL. Basically a pervy version of Zenith

The anime did him and Fitz dirty in this episode. Rudeus and Fitz are both opposed to slavery.
Yeah it's adapted poorly

niceeee more mushoku tensei!!!!
You guys should watch The Rising of the Shield Hero when you got time, think you would love it
Must protect Juliette at all costs!
Rudeus was not really comfortable with the slavery. But everyone else was soo casual meaning it was really common.
Anime really didn't do a good job of showing his discomfort.
Y’all must watch the worlds finest assassin lol
Will you react to solo leveling or not?

It's interesting how you guys berated Rudeus for what he did to Eris but simply laughed at Elinalise's blatant sexual assault on multiple boys.
yeah this episode is.................my least favorite
