One great touch in this movie is how much more fluently he speaks among the gorillas even after he learns English, showing how English is his second language.
I found it interesting how with the gorillas he speaks fine but when he first spoke with Jane and the others he didn’t more like a child learning to speak
@@Takaichi666-it’s not really speaking english to the gorillas it appears that way to the viewers so we understand what’s going on but to the outside pov like to Jane and them he’s speaking in a more.. gorilla-like manner with grunts and stuff bc that’s how he’s ACTUALLY talking to them. he didn’t know english at all lol
The fact that Tarzan has very little diaglog adds to the mystery of him and that we really need tp pay close attention to his face, eyes and body to understand how hes feeling. Also, when he speaks to Jane or about her, his voice gets really soft and low. Showing he has a deep affection for her. The voice acting is astonishing.
While Tarzan doesn’t speak much in the first Disney Tarzan film, his spoken dialogue in said film remains a huge improvement in comparison to his hulk speak-prone and oafish predecessor in the Weissmuller films and their two more speechless reboots released in 1959 and 1981.
Which is doubly funny if you've read the novel, where Tarzan is English by birth and Jane is American! Also, in the novel the first language he learns to read and write is English, but the first language he learns to speak is French 😂
It really speaks to how well this movie does visual storytelling in that the main character has only 3 minutes' worth of spoken lines, and yet we clearly understand his emotional journey throughout the film. Thank God for Glen Keane (the head animator for Tarzan - the character, not the film itself).
How do people not realise that Tarzan and the Gorillas aren't speaking English to each other. They're talking in their " language". Tarzan talking to tĥe other humans is his first time speaking actual English.
I love the line where he says "not a man like you" at 3:04 and the fact that he realize that Clayton's neck would be stuck in the vine and try to stop him from doing so. Also the expression he shows after seeing Clayton's (💀) just shows how much of a kind hearted man and person he is ( 3:06 ) Bro only wants peace 🫂🫂
It's obviously meant to look like a primates feet, and you'd be surprised but your feet can do that too, they're not meant to stay squished in shoes all day
Well I think his body got used to his lifestyle as a gorilla(?) Bc if I'm not mistaken, our bodies can adapt certain features according to the environment we are, and well, Tarzan growing up going through the forests and jumping from one tree to another...I think you get the point😅
Our feet would actually be more spread out than they usually are these days, they are just so deformed now that we lost a lot of flexibility. That is the reason why they also started making sole-less or shoes with a wider surface. They're just unpopular because of aesthetics.
He can't out muscle a gorilla, he has to use his size and flexibility to get in a position where they can't get him off and he gets them in a hold. Harder to fight against guys who don't have that weakness to exploit.
"My heart...your heart!" -Little Tarzan😢❤ "It's very nice!" "Jane" "Jane...stay...please" "Means: Jane stays with Tarzan" "No matter where I go, you'll always be my mother..." "I'll miss you, Jane" - Grown up Tarzan❤ He didn't have to say much to steal my heart😢❤
Haha.. ! Its also funny how adorably embarrassed he gets when accidently losing it! All the more fun for Jane to mess with Tarzan. Its so easy to teasingly snatch and dangle it out of reach with a good laugh..while the legendary apeman gets all red and hides in a bush! XD
I think he could be called a himbo(?) Because yeah, he is all muscular and strong yet so sweet and gentle when it comes to his family and Jane of course🥺 He is so pure and innocent and so precious, I just love him❤
One of the great things about this film is how little Tarzan speaks. He does most of his communicating with his facial and body expressions. It’s one of the most remarkable charactertsaiions ever done in animation and it’s very true to the story. I thought they do a job showing that only Tarzan can communicate with the animals. No one else can hear them talk. Its a tricky thing to convey.
He's speaking gorilla language to them, which is his first language. It's harder to learn your second language (in his case, English) and all its complexities than your first.
As I already told someone, we should have the illusion that he’s speaking gorilla to the apes, even if we hear him speaking English (for our own understanding). After meeting Jane and spending time with her and her father we should imagine him speaking some broken English since he’s learning it for the first time
He’s speaking gorilla but it’s translated so the viewers understand. It’s exactly like how it seems like Tinker Bell speaks English to other fairies but bells to humans.
Tbf, us as spectators should have the illusion that he’s speaking gorilla while talking to the apes…. I agree that his American accent after learning from an English person is hilarious tho

I’d forgotten how beautiful this film is. I need to rewatch some of my favorite old Disney movies again.
only 3 minutes but it just was enough to have this beautiful character

I'm surprised this video of all the clips showing Tarzan speaking doesn't include his iconic yell.
