Great review Jon. Billy Walker and team are doing good things at GA. My bottle went fast luckily I have a backup bottle. GA 12 is all things good in a sherried scotch just that much better compared to other 12 year olds. Congrats on your daughter's graduation.
I bought this particular whiskey a few days ago, I'm excited, it has great aromas and a great aftertaste, the alcohol levels are visible. It's definitely an excellent choice.
Great video, Jon! I'm not too sure but I don't believe the GlenAllachie 12 is available to me locally. Congrats on your daughter's milestone. I've had a couple over the last week as well. Cheers to all!
I'd love to try it and see what all the fuss is about? Couldn't dream of seeing that on a Pennsylvania shelf. I haven't liked anything Ralfy raves about for ten plus years. I have a simple sweet American pallet. I doubt I would like it more than Glenrothes wich is chill filtered and I don't care. Wish I could do a blind to put that wonder to rest.
You might enjoy a bit more, with a little bit of sweet new oak in here! All our palates are different, do you tend to more bourbon, or just sweeter Scotches?
@@WhiskyNeighbour after 35 years I've been through every phase. I've been through the cask strength kick, all single malts kick, the non chill filtered phase. The current cask situation due to massive popularity has hurt most things I used to love. At my age I'm not looking for a challenge anymore. I just want well rounded, easy to drink whisky that doesn't taste flat. I love Glenrothes 12, Highland Park 12, Writer's Tears, Jefferson's Reserve, Michters, and Evan Williams single barrel. Simple stuff.
I can safely say that I prefer the GlenAllachie 12 over the likes of Macallan 12 Sherry Oak, GlenDronach 12 and even Bunnahabhain 12. All fantastic whiskies, but just something about the GlenAllachie 12. It's the sweeter of the bunch but very complex. GlenDronach and Macallan not as sweet and both are considerably spicier (... and the macallan is less complex). Bunna has that sea water on the background that sets it apart. But today, GlenAllachie 12 sits on the top for me. It does keep going back and forth though.
The 2021 bottles are a lot better than the ones released in the years prior to that. Might not be able to find it on sale for $60 anymore but Costco has it for $65. Grab a new bottle and compare!

Thank you, and clearly I agree, this is a solid sherried 12 year!
congrats on the family milestone
Thanks!

So great you picked it up and are enjoying it. Cheers!
Time flies! Enjoy celebrating & marking the occasion 😁👍
Thank you!
Cheers Jon! Have not cracked mine yet, but my brother in Calgary was able to snag it for $59.99 for me. Just couldn’t pass it up at that price!
Fantastic price! Wow

Thank you for the good wishes, cool to hear you have a few milestones worth celebrating too! Cheers!
Hey Jon. One of my favourites for sure.
Nice!
Truly, this is a nectar.
$65 at Costco in Alberta.
No membership required to purchase liquor.
Agreed. Certainly the best $65 Sherried Scotch available. That said, I did not know Costco had it! I better get a back up bottle. Cheers!
Nice review, Jon! Have you ever tried those other Glenallachei 12 "flavors"? The '12 Spanish Oak', '12 French Oak'...?
I have not, but I hope too. I enjoy GlenAllachie a fair amount!
GlenAllachie 12 or GlenAllachie 10 Cask Strength? In my area they retail for roughly the same price.
Tough, tough call. I think the 10 CS. Great Scotch!

You don’t like Springbank, Glendronach, Clynelish, Arran, Ardbeg 10, Deanston 12, Kilkerran, Longrow?

@@steveno7058 No. Tried them all. Glenrothes and Highland Park for me. I like Laphroaig 10 though?
@@danielmcevoy976 all good drams, thanks for sharing more of your journey. Cheers!
Have only seen the 20 year old Kirkland Signature Sherry finished Speyside Whisky in my area for $75.
The way Scotch prices have been going, not that bad for a 20 year! Have you tried it?
@@WhiskyNeighbour with our high local "sin taxes" it ends up at about $95. Love the GlenAllachie that I picked up on a trip to California.
The 2021 batches compared to previous years is a different animal. The 2021 is more of a true Sherry bomb
I need to get a bottle!
interesting, I've never heard of a budget old whisky, I wonder how they do that, they must use the most tired reused casks.
Perhaps. It is still a good Scotch to me.

Great highlights on how these drams differ. I enjoy each, though I have had far less Macallan then the other two. Cheers!

I need to get a new release and see how it stacks up. Great advice
They are asking $110.00 for this in MB! Talk about price gouging.
Ouch. Prices are moving up here too, but thankfully still more affordable. Maybe it will go on a big sale! It is a good Scotch IMO, cheers
