    Love your art! Newly subscribed! I am trying out watercolor instead of just pencils. I love the books you've shown by Stephanie Law and your artwork along with hers is spectacular. Looking forward to seeing more of your art.🥰

    You're humbly hard on yourself. You are doing very well. Remember errors (not failures) are a teachable moment for you and your viewers. I'm not an artist, but I think your doing fantastic! Ms. Law will be pleased your using her book to learn watercolor ingredients! Keep up the good work.

      @@TheArtSpirits Yes, the book is on her website but I can't have it because I'm not from the US and the shipping fees are REALLY expensive. I tought I could get it for my birthday(it's in December) but I can't because so many things happened and the family had to borrow money...I'm tearing up. Thank you for sharing. I think you did such a good job with your paintings. they're really lovely.
    I'm wondering if there's anything in any of the books where she takes you through her use of watercolour ground and gold leaf please? As I've just watched a video of Stephanie's where she used this method and so I'm trying to see if I can save a painting of mine doing something similar. Also might be an option for you to save your painting too? Thank you again.

    I've bought all the Linda Ravenscroft books due to your lovely review and now it seems I must have all of these by Stephanie Law! I'm almost afraid to watch anymore of your book unboxings/flip-throughs/reviews, Lol. Kidding aside I love these art book reviews and flip throughs. Also, I think you did a really good rendering of those pictures you sketched and painted!

      Thanks very much Bev :-) I know what you mean about wanting to purchase the books you see in the videos lol. I'm totally guilty of that myself. I saw one book of Stephanie Law's on somebody else's video and ended up loving her work so much that I bought all her books that I could find lol. Glad you liked the videos and thanks for watching :-)

    I've just realised, this is the wonderful Stephanie Pui Mun Law who did the Shadowscapes Tarot! She also did the Shadowscapes colouring book, but I'm sure you have that one. It was the tarot cards that got me into colouring, as I saw the book when I was ordering the cards. I agree, this book is SO stunning .. Have you seen Josephine Wall's work? I think you would love it if you like this. Google Natures Whispers Oracle cards, and You'll see her lovely art. Thank you for showing this masterpiece.. Aah.. if Only I could paint like that.... but you're really good xx

    • @TheArtSpirits
      @TheArtSpirits  8 лет назад

      Oh thanks Karen. I don't have any of Stephanie's Tarrot cards but I will probably get some in the future. I would buy everything she has available if I won the lottery. Yes, I've see Josephine's work as well and I have a couple of her books on my wish list. I might get them someday :-)

    Try having a go at your own design too ... you will then have the freedom to use what you have learnt from Steph books, but more importantly follow your own imagination to where you want to go ...a good quality watercolour paper makes huge difference...
    back in 1998 Steph was using digital artwork ...then about 1999 she started with watercolour, your aren't that far off from her early artwork ...so keep up the good work, and who know where you will be in two years time ... love & light :)

    How do you manage to buy such stunning books? I'm a bit bored with my colouring at the moment as I don't have any inspirational books as such. Also, I'm limited by a) price and b) the fact I don't like anything too complicated. I'm a bit 'inbetween' if that makes sense? I'm starting to realise too that a book with the same-ish designs all the way through aren't inspiring me at all. Any ideas greatly appreciated.👍

      This book is devine. I came across the artist when watching a RUclips artist showing their favourite art books. One of them was by this artist, Stephanie Law. I really liked the look of the book so ordered it. There were more books by her available, so I got some for Christmas off my mam and then I ordered this one at a later date when it came out. I just totally love it 😍
      Would you not fancy trying watercolour painting, Jane? I'm going to start doing some step-by-step beginner watercolour paintings on my channel, in a few weeks time. Starting with that Hot Air Baloon picture I showed you.

      I shall think about it although the light is bad at the best of times in here, which is why I tend to colour books on my lap, in front of the TV. Doing anything on the table at the back is a no-no as the light isn't as good back there, unfortunately. I shall be away for a while too as Mum has fallen (outside, on the way back from the Docs) and she has no internet. She's OK (had an op on her arm) but I'm having to be taken there by hubby tomorrow 'cos my brother cannot be ar*ed. He lives round the corner, I live nearly 100 miles away. He's not even done the basics, like take a change of clothing for her and if he's neglected the cats I'll go spare. They do spend a lot of time in the garden at this time of year but they are 14 and 13 respectively, so they will want to go indoors at some point. My brother is too interested in his floozie..but there again, I'm not there yet so everything might be hunky-dory. I doubt it though. Past history with my Dad tells me that.

    Waouh I've been watching this video again and again and again and again and every single time it's still amazing
    Please can you tell me where the book got printed?
    I'm sure it's on the book. I'm really curious
    I think it's in China but I'm really interested in the name of the compagny

    • @TheArtSpirits
      @TheArtSpirits  6 лет назад

      Hi Priscilla, no problem, it was printed in China by Shadowscapes Press, which I believe is Stephanie's own Company/Business.

    • @priscillam8903
      @priscillam8903 6 лет назад

      ooooh thank you so much for replying so FAST :D
      it's not Shadowscapes Press but if you are interested Stéphanie did answer and it's exact printing compagny
      Thank you for kindness
      And by the way you can be as good as her one day and even better
      work hard
      gooooosh I want this book so bad but I'm broke :D

    I would love to draw more but I don't know how tracing works (in order to learn) so that would be nice to know..not that I'm after totally copying another person's work, you understand.😇

    • @TheArtSpirits
      @TheArtSpirits  7 лет назад

      Yep, I've heard some artists swear by tracing to start off with. Lisa Lachri from the Lachri Fine Art channel says it a good aid in learning to draw and she encourages her students to start off with tracing. Also, copying work off others (just for personal practise) is also supposed to be a great way to improve art skills. And, if you really fancy drawing, Jane, it's really inexpensive. You don't need many tools and can just use cheap paper. So you wouldn't need much investment upfront.

    • @JaneMetcalfe
      @JaneMetcalfe 7 лет назад

      Thanks for that. I do have a pack of 75 acid-free tiles that I have been practising drawing on. It's good to look back to see if I've improved at all..which I have, a bit. I shall carry on doing that once I get back from Blackpool (whenever that may be) lol.
