I found your review of your books extremely helpful!!❤️ It is so helpful to see more of what is inside so you can decide which to order for our personal collection! As a newbie to watercolor, your book reviews are my favorite! Thank you!🤗
The leaves you liked are called skeleton leaves. All of the books are in my Amazon wish list lol. I don't have room to purchase all of them, but I love Anna Mason & Jean Haines. I'll have to watch your video again, to make my selection. I love when you show the books, they are lovely. I appreciate you. Christie
I asked you previously for a recommendation book and you advised about Everything You Wanted to Know About Watercolour and it's brilliant, thank you so much! These other books also look great especially the one by David Webb.
Just found this, thanks to RUclips algorithms. Thanks for your info and sharing with us. Great video. I just ordered Hazel Soan's "Art of the Limited Palette". I must purge some of my art books; I have 80+. But you always need "just one more"!
Oh no! I feel a book buying binge coming on! Thanks for letting us take a look at these, it's so hard to buy watercolor books online, and you rarely get to see more than just a few pages. Your reviews provided lots of insight and information! I appreciate it. Additionally, I added a bit of glycerin to all of my tubed watercolors while pouring pans, and for me, it's a wonderful way to make sure your colors liven up after they've dried. Thanks again! Have an amazing week ☺️
you prolly dont give a damn but does someone know a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my login password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Deacon Kameron thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I have been exploring some of the new watercolour mediums ( weren’t around when I was in art school back in the day) and my mind has been a bit blown with what you can do with them! Great haul, added a few to my explore list!
Either you have to stop doing these book haul videos OR I am going to have to stop watching them!!!😂 Just kidding, none of that is going to happen.....Everytime I watch these art book hauls, I buy a few. Our tastes are so much alike. I don't think our pocket books are though!!😂😂😂Thanks so much for sharing the joy with us!!❤️
Haha, yes, I know what you mean coz I'm exactly the same when I watch other people's book hauls, lol. Thanks for watching, glad you're enjoying the videos 👍😁🎨
Wonderful book haul! Beautiful books. You make me want to paint so much, but I've lost my confidence and so far am only able to work in colouring books (the ones on watercolour paper). I love that Ann Blockley book and the Jean Haines books look brilliant. I have 2 large prints framed on display here of Ann's work and one frame displaying 3 of her greetings cards and 2 small prints currently not on show. I've long been a fan of her work. Many years ago now my husband and I visited her family's beautiful cottage in the Cotswolds because my husband was friends with her (now ex.) husband and we went there to help him do something technical with computers. I had hoped Ann would be there, but she wasn't, she was away. Charles kept Gloucester Old Spot pigs and I remember we came home with some sausages. I used to stretch all my own paper back in the day. It's easy once you have done a few. I still have some gummed brown paper tape in my art bag. It does give a lovely smooth finish to the paper. You can leave it to dry and just keep it on the board to paint if you like and take it apart at the end. I'm now off to put some of these books on my wish list. Thanks for another great video Rebecca.
Thank you I have bought atmospheric flowers by Jean Haines already and Amazing ways with watercolour both on DVD and the companion books. Actually I would recommend getting both if you can afford it. I actually borrowed them from the library first, so good one libraries, But I really wanted to know about Jane Betteridge Watercolours Unleashed because the little bit that you get from Amazon to look at is usually the only thing worth looking at (sorry Amazon) my opinion no one else. So I get them on kindle because I can just return it if I don't like it and they never quibble - then swap it for a book that is useful so I;m coming now to get the Unleashed book. I am an artist but I;m now visually impaired so I have had to adopt a looser style of painting. Thank you for your reviews I look forward to them. So keep it up!
They are sometimes called skeleton leaves. I love the second book. It's more like a mixed media book. I love that because you can collect things for free on a nature walk and use it in your painting.
The 'direct method' appeals to me as I use that with pencils lol. Some ace books you have there. In fact, I love all the books you collect..you've got very good taste.;-)
I noticed your palette up at the top right and was wondering how you like it? I was bidding on one on E Bay but the price was too high for me. They look really cool but not sure how practical they are. If you say it's great and you can't live without it then I may reconsider haha maybe😊
I oooohed and awwwed and swooned from the first book, lol! I have this odd thirst for color and your flip throughs did a lot to quelch it! Another awesome book haul. Still in financial straits here, but when I have the $$ I will definitely buy you a Ko-Fi and use your links to get some (especially that first one!) of these books :D)
Very nice review! I definitely will put some of these books on my wishlist, lol! Have you got 'How to Make a Watercolor Paint Itself" by Nita Engle? I haven't gotten it yet, but it's on my wishlist. Liron Yanconsky recommended it on his RUclips channel and it looks really good!
You don't necessarily have to wet the paper first before taping. I've always taped the dry sheet of 300 lb watercolour paper down on a board first and then painted on it or put a wash on it & haven't had any trouble. This is how a couple of older watercolour artists have shown me.
Hi Clarice. Yes, I don't always wet the paper first, just sometimes, when I can be bothered, lol. It's a bit time consuming but I do prefer to do it that way as it really prevents most warping of the paper. When taping the paper down dry, I find it does warp more but I still do it this way too, most of the time infact.
Would you please share with us where you got the plastic 28-well palette? I've decided to follow Oto Kano's palette method of using those plastic palettes for particular uses of certain colors and then a ceramic mixing palette, so it would be useful to know where to get those. Hope you are well and just taking a RUclips break or better yet, taking a Holiday trip :D).
Another question which brushes are better the Rosmary and co. or Billy (damn I can't remember her name but she's the artist with the eradicator brush)??
I think you are talking about Billy Showell. I don’t know which brushes are better. Hers are nice and I just ordered some from Rosemary and Co lately, but haven’t used yet.
Just found your channel. Love your reviews and presentations and the way you give honest opinions on the materials etc that you receive. Recently retired I am just starting my art journey. You must be amassing quite a book collection! Thank you for showing your books etc.😎👍🇦🇺Subscribed. All the best, Stephen(an ex Pom in Australia!)
That is not correct what you said about stretching paper. It is not held 'at its maximum size'. It contracts against the tapes as it dries. That's why it is 'stretched'.
What lovely books. I can not remember if you have the Arteza watercolor half pan set, but everyone I know who has both the pan set, & the tubes say the pan paints are so much better than the tubes. Which is strange they would be so different, but I guess they are. Some people think they may be having them made by different company's. Anyway just thought you may want to give them a go. I thought you had them, but I can not remember. LOL I have such a bad memory. TYFS
Hi Kim, yes, I do have the 36 watercolor pans and I really liked them although I did need to add lots of layers to get a good deep colour but I suppose that's to be expected as they are a lot lower in price than artist quality paints. I made a review video if you'd like to see it, here's the link ruclips.net/video/BQ5wSMrgsNQ/видео.html I did really like the 24 set of tubes too. The only problem was they are no good if you leave them to dry in a palette as they cracked and broke apart. Yes, I suppose the pans and tubes could be made by different manufacturers or possibly just a different formula for the pans so that they don't crack when dried. Arteza have just sent me the 60 tube set of watercolors too. So I will be reviewing them soon and it will be interesting to see if they are as good as the first set of 24 tubes that I have. Apparently, there's a lot of white mixed into the 60 set tubes which makes them more opaque so I have a feeling they won't be as good as the 24 set, but probably ok as craft paints etc. 😀🎨
TY for the link. I have watched it. Like I said my memory is crap. LOL Oh, I wanted to tell you thanks for doing the video where you test mediums in your coloring books. I bought the Golden Satin finish that you liked the best in the last comparison you did. I think was the last one. I know you did it a couple of times. But it works great for me. So TY so much. Also, your paintings are looking so wonderful. I love to watch you paint. You also turned me on to Stephanie Law. WOW what a great artist. I don't think you have too many video's out that I haven't watched. I know there are a few, but very few. I hope when things get a little better around here to be a patron of yours. I'd like to give a little back for all I have learned from you. TY so much.

What a delightful look at these watercolor books. Thanks so much!

Lovely run through these books thank you. Time for me to buy another one, or two I think!
You should treat yourself 😃

You did an amazing job of showing the books and all the highlights of the different artists! Thank you so much for these reviews!

Binge watching your lovely videos!
I’m just getting started with watercolors. I do oil painting. What book would you recommend? I can only afford one right now. Thank you!

Como se puede adquirir este libro ?

I never knew you could stretch paper. Thanks for the tip

Are you on Instagram?
Oh Sorry I just noticed you are on Instagram. Can you tell me the watercolour paper that you used again? Thanks
