Probably so that you know what is part of the logo and what isn't. If there was another object right next to the typelogo for example you'd think they belong together.
The Painting Effect hack can also be done the same way with quick mask. Here's the steps: 1. Select layer you want to apply effect 2. Tap 'Q' on your keyboard (Q is shortcut for Quickmask) 3. Click on Foreground Color and Select a Dark Shade in the color picker window (the darker the more effect). 4. Press 'Alt + Backspace' on keyboard to fill the quick mask with the dark shade selected. 5. Exit quickmask by tapping 'Q' on keyboard. (The warning prompt will come up to let you know that "No more than 50% pixels) 6. Tap 'Enter' to exit the warning prompt. (You won't see anything selected, however the 'Generate' prompt will now be available) 7. Type whatever effect you want in the 'Generate' prompt (Oil painting, watercolor, etc...). Using Quickmask to select pixels is a little faster than going into Channels because it can be done using keyboard shortcuts.
Hi, know you won't see this or probably won't anyway, but it's worth a shot. I just started a band with some of my friends and have a rough logo made out for all of us, but I'm not sure how to make it presentable. Would you be able to help me design the logo and make it look legit from the design I have?
Hi Will, i hope you are alright, I have a question and i hope you will answer me. So i wanted to know, i watched a video of you ( which i can't seem to find now for some reason) in which i think you paid logo designers to design you a logo. In that video there was a logo named "SPOKES", it was something related to bicycles or a bike app, I'm not so sure. So, can you please give me the link of that video? It would be much appreciated. Btw, keep up the good work, your videos are always helpful. Thank you.
As always...Super Interesting! One question on the Photoshop alpha channel. WHY? Why is photoshop filled with secret cheat codes with no foundation to standard reasoning. I realize they wanted to have a masters degree required for their program in the past, But I'm pretty sure that intuitive design has become the norm.
Hi Will Paterson I want to get your valuable comments about my logo designing work. Would you consider my request, it would be really an honor for me. Awaiting your positive reply. Kind Regards, Brainwins

@@Schnayfan you mean to separate the logo and typeface from other objects

Very useful hacks, my favourite hack is the Painting Effect with AI.
That's a cool one!
The Painting Effect hack can also be done the same way with quick mask. Here's the steps:

2. Tap 'Q' on your keyboard (Q is shortcut for Quickmask)
3. Click on Foreground Color and Select a Dark Shade in the color picker window (the darker the more effect).
4. Press 'Alt + Backspace' on keyboard to fill the quick mask with the dark shade selected.
5. Exit quickmask by tapping 'Q' on keyboard. (The warning prompt will come up to let you know that "No more than 50% pixels)
6. Tap 'Enter' to exit the warning prompt. (You won't see anything selected, however the 'Generate' prompt will now be available)
7. Type whatever effect you want in the 'Generate' prompt (Oil painting, watercolor, etc...).

@@dontump2286 Ace, I'll give that a go. Thank you for taking the time to share the step by step!
Any idea what high school prerequisites I would need to major in graphic design for university?
you don't need any. also, i always recommend that you find a major that includes graphic design but teaches you something more like motion design.
Loved it 😊 tq

Photoshop AI oil painting hack does not work :(
ai generated thumbnail on a design video is crazy
Y’all gotta stop with the Ai art and stuff like that. It Really doesn’t look as y’all think. Just trying to keep it real and respectful.
I don’t agree. But I do value what you say :) thanks for watching
@@willpatersondesign you value the interaction, not what I say. Just wanted to clear that up.
