@@TheMrMobilewhy didn't we get this technology? I feel like big companies would freak out if we had this much access to info of what goes into our body/what composes the items/world around us. They don't want us knowing secret recipes so sadly this technology will never be fully commercial/on every phone... or on any phone for that matter.
      It's sad.
I'm looking into usbc options now.
Another piece of tech lost because of big business

Although I don't see myself using it, it's nice to see someone innovating with the unthinkable. Our phones are portable, they have great computing power and they are connected. This makes the perfect way to have a network of sensors working together, for different purposes.

That sensor can work well as an USB/Lightning accessory for existing smartphones, that way people will actually buy it
I don't really see practical use of the sensor so I'll just buy it out of curiosity, and curiosity isn't enough to make most people to justify buying a mediocre phone just for one feature that I don't really need
but curiosity can make me buy an accessory - so the original is actually better
    EDIT: Typos

I would like to see an real-world use experiment, something like 30 days or a few months and see if you opinion changes.
Given the dirty air and surfeit of counterfeits in PRC, I can see a market there. I would also like to know exactly the stats of the fruit I'm holding right now. I also would like to only buy fruit if it's good and if the gizmo can consistently predict that, it could be a farmer's market game-changer.

Also some people say that after they go to Hawaii they can never eat pineapple anywhere else. They are wrong. They just need to check 2 things. Does it smell ripe? Does it pass the leaf break test (When you hold the pineapple by a top leaf and shake it up and down)? If it does you have a very delicious pineapple

I've only watched most of the first season of TNG back when it first aired and could not get into it.. I now hear that the first season wasn't too good, and it got much, much better after the first season,, (maybe that's why).. I just love the over the top cheesiness and the all the memorable characters from the TOS..

It actually couldn't help in this situation at all. The technology it's based on could not provide anywhere near a suitable level of assurance of overall composition and the current reactive tests are orders of magnitude more reliable.
