One of the best t.v. drama from the glorious 80s! In the Dynasty or Dallas: the most succsesfull in this way ... Pasions, power, secrets, rich families, corrupt villains and luxurious environments... Great movie, and then became into t.v. series, with amazing cast!
This Primtime soap did really good in the ratings as a mini series, had potential as a regular series, but some how, it fail to find an audience. To me, it was just too much competition from the other networks. I mean CBS had 3 Primetime soaps (Dallas, Falcon Crest & Knotts Landing), ABC had Dynasty, which was dominating the ratings or was the number one show on the planet when Bare Essance debuted as a regular series. Not only that, but when it went from a mini series, the regular series just had too many recast. Eventually, Linda Evans went back to Dynasty; Donna Mills went back to Knotts Landing. I heard that the powers that be at ABC, really wanted Genie Francis back on General Hospital to finish up the mystery storyline involving her Laura Spencer character.
Yeah, after the success of Dynasty, Falcon Crest and Dallas too many Prime Time Sops were out there. I loved this Show. I wasn't familiar with The Actors but it was fun to watch.
Isn't it amazing to believe that 40 Years Ago The Wedding OF Luke & Laura took place on General Hospital. Then Across The Ocean The UK Soap Wedding OF Ken & Diedre took place on Coronation Street. 1981 Triumph by The Jacksons was released and within Two Years Michael became the Hottest Rock Star in The World and Joan Collins would debut as Alexis on Dynasty.
LOVED MUFFIN at the last episode words..."LET YOUR HUSBAND die and you'll own everything AVA DEAREST""..............and we never knew about the storie because was cancelled....whaT a piTTy.....would LOVE to see MUFFIN BLACKMAILING AvA.....
@@masjuanero I know right. My Cousin loved "Ava" she was such a Diva. I saw this Show in the 1980's and I had no idea of it's legacy. Genie Francis who was part of the biggest Soap Wedding in US History, Ava Gardner who was in The Group based on the Bestselling Novel by Mary McCarthy who helped usher in The Chick Lit Movement. Jamie Lynn Bauer (aka Laura Horton #2, and Laurie Brooks Prentiss on The Young & The Restless), Ian McShane who played an Onassis Type Fellow who was also in Roots. His "Brother" Alexi played by Michael Nader fell in love with his Brother's girlfriend Lady Bobbi played by Jennifer O'Neill who was in The Coming Of Age Classic Summer Of 42. Then Jonathan Frakes does Star Trek and of course Marries Genie Francis.
@José Elias Wow! Here's another fun fact. Barbara Stanwyck was offered the Role of Angela Channing On Falcon Crest but she suggested Jane Wyman. Brilliant Move. Jane would win a Golden Globe Award while Barbara won For The Thorn Birds. They had one thing in Common, they were obsessed with their Dynasties so to speak. Angela Channing with Falcon Crest, Mary Carson with The Thorn Birds.
I had no idea the Legacy of some of these Actors. Ian McShane who also worked in the UK on a Police Drama who also "bought" Chicken George so his former Massa Tom Harvey can pay off a debt in Roots. Jennifer O'Neil who was next to Ali McGraw the "It" Girl of Hollywood with Summer Of 42. Jessica Walter as Ava who was in The Movie The Group which was based on the Bestselling Novel by Mary McCarthy that helped epitomize the Chick Lit Movement as well as Rona Jaffe's The Best Of Everything. Jamie Lynn Bauer who was one of the "Original" Brooks Sisters as Lorie on The Young & The Restless, and of course Genie Francis who to this day is a Legend of US Soaps as Laura Webber Baldwin Spencer on General Hospital which was the Show that Megan Markle had a small part on before she became The Duchess Of Sussex.
@@jonathandavid3298 No Megan Markle was on General Hospital as a Nurse. She was an Under Five which meant she only had Five Lines. No matter how many times a person is told never touch a murder weapon, they always do. Also Michael Nader was on the Show as Alexi, Nico's Younger Brother who was also in love with Lady Bobbie. I felt she was stupid to stay with a Man who didn't respect her but she had no choice. She may have been a "Lady" which meant that she was part of an obscure Royal Family Dynasty but she had no cash, so Nico was her only source of Income.

I loved this show when it was on. if anyone has the entire series please post it. Would love to see it again and this will probably be the only way.
