Huge respect and admiration of all the RH&DR do !!
Where else may one see Gresley style Pacific's at full chat with some 16 coaches behind.
Excellent video Chris top marks for brilliant commentary.
    Long may it steam.
Plus driver doing fireman duties as well.
    Magic !

You make the starting of an engine sound a bit like an F1 commentary which is a compliment

Those drivers work hard for their living, and have to know the in's and out's of many types of train.

Wonderful video, I especially enjoyed the cab descriptions and operating descriptions,
I noticed your description of the reverser, I assume the reverser also acts as a drift valve for decending grades? Wounderful loco handling by Steve nice and smooth Im always amazed at the control your boilers allow the engineer. Virtually no waste in black smoke.
    Thanks again!

Hello Jettera, some are hard working volunteers who are with us throughout the year whilst others volunteer around other commitments. We also have a core team of paid drivers who are with us all year round. You can find out more about volunteering here: www.rhdr.org.uk/volunteering/

Hello i have a question i am 14 and i have a cab ride ticket. I have been tolled that i can only ride in a diesel train but i am abit confused because on the ticket it says about safty on a steam locomotive and not a diesel locomotive. Do i get to ride in a steam locomotive or not?
