Irony. I'm a Barcelona fan...Cules through and through. I'm also from from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹, same as Yorkie. So when this duo destroyed us ...I had to stand in admiration and clap. Brilliant and deadly pair. Great vid
Possibly one of the greatest strike partnerships in the history of the game in terms of output and sheer chemistry. Especially given they lasted more than a season together.
No way would Utd have won the treble without these 2 players. Andy Cole has to be one of the most underrated strikers of all time. Brilliant video mate cheers for making it
Cole was amazing, but suffered from playing at a time England had Shearer and Sheringham up front, then later Owen and Fowler too….. Also was seen as moody and wasn’t loved by the Utd crowd at all (amazingly being seen as a bit of a flop, despite scoring regularly) When Yorke came along - who was just an amazingly likeable character - Cole started smiling and really started to be embraced by the crowd. He was just quite stoic, but clearly that was shyness in retrospect. Suffered from not scoring that goal that would have won us the title, and was seen as this moody and ungrateful player. Yorkie coming along just changed all that - and he was amazing for us from then on.
I was gutted when York lefted the Villa but I knew he had to leave as we just couldn't give him Europe...we villians knew he would be successful where ever he went..bad boy baller. Trust me 🔥
I absolutely love these guys I wish I could go back to 98/99 season the best moments in football for me. I thought this video was so good I subscribed 👍
Absolutely fantastic analysis of these guys careers I really enjoyed it I'm very glad I found your content as you have a real good understanding of the game
This is my new favorite channel on RUclips. Many of your videos really hit the sweet spot in my football fandom. I became a football fan in the 90's after the 94 world cup and being in the US it was hard to get any decent news and coverage of European football but then the internet changed everything. I pretty much spent all my free time in college reading up on everything going on in the European leagues. Your videos are amazingly well done and bring back many good memories of discovering professional football in my late teens and early 20s.
The way I remember it was this, Cole was good for Manchester United, then he broke both legs and was out for a while, when he came back, he was then much better!!!
Hey, I'm from Trinidad and Tobago love the vid, good job. But we had another player in the name of Russell Latapy aka the Magician. Do a vid on him, I think your audience would appreciate his talent too. He will be unkown to those who only watch top five leagues. Do I have any Portuguese and Scottish football fans up in here.
@@sluggyranks8594 Is it big stadium? Maybe Yorke is the only Manchester United player who dedicated as name of the football stadium in the world. Respect for him and your country too, Trinidad and Tobago :)
It's nice that we are living in a time where it's very easy to find a lot videos of classic matches. I only remembered this duo vaguely because I was still very young at that time. And watching old highlights was a nice reminder of how good they were. Not just them, the entire Manchester Lineup back then was great. Beckham, Giggs, Scholes, Yorke, Cole, Sheringham, even Nicky Butt. They complemented each other perfectly.
Uniteds second goal against Barcelona in the 99 UCL group stages was a thing of beauty. 3 passes, all first time, 1 dummy and Barca defenders looking like headless chickens. Such an intuitive relationship, almost instantly as well.
United were struggling in Europe b4 Yorke turned up, he is arguably the best forwards that has ever played for united. Also when England played Trinidad 🇹🇹 at the 2006 WC Yorke played on midfield and he was by far the best player on the pitch that’s how good he was
Unbelievable front 2 they were and to think Utd went for Patrick kluivert before Yorke and if Kluvert never turned them down. I don't think they would have done what they did that year. They had an almost telepathic way of playing together Cole and Yorke. Definitely up there with the Shearer/Sutton & Bergkamp/Henry best Premier league front 2. Cole's only problem was he needed 4/5 chances to score 1 and Glen Hoodle even said that's why he never picked him much for England. Still a fantastic player IMO. 94 Ajax team video would be nice sometime, please.
These videos are nostalgic & bring back happy memories of my teenage years. 99' was a special year for United and that final is the best football match I've ever watched!!
As a Newcastle fan watching the Premier League as a kid, I was devastated when Cole was sold to Man U. Respect to this man for not only what he did for Newcastle but also in his career. Legend.
I was a Blackburn Rovers fan and had the pleasure of a season ticket for many years during the time when Andrew Cole and Dwight Yorke played. Even got to see Cole score the winner in the Worthington Cup final. Brilliant every game.
Best striking partnership I have ever seen. They were terrifying. You never knew who was playing the provider and who was playing the goal scorer until it was too late while they swapped these responsibilities effortlessly, at will and at the most unpredictable moments. When you focused on stopping one of them scoring you found he was not interested in scoring at all and was setting up the other and the ball was soon in the back of the net, and when you focused on stopping them setting up the other you found they were going to score, but it was too late as the ball was at the back of the net. It was pretty much like a goalie dealing with a player and moving too late to make the save because the player shoots at the most unexpected and unpredictable moment or rhythm of the event, and they did this telepathically probably without even knowing they were doing it. Peace and love
They were the greatest diamonds in the rough. However there were players who wanted the lime light and could have made them even or greater by assisting in today game they still could not handle the purely on the vision movement and determination all you youth want to be successful just watch how these two played for each other and ultimately the team" Manutd ril I die".
Peak Andrew Cole would be great leading the line for United right now. He was a complete forward. Could play with his back to goal. Beat the offside trap. Great control and first touch. Could play others through. Pretty much nearly everything in Martial and Rashford's games and the bits they were missing. Cole was exellent. Some or his best goals were goals against Leeds, Aston Villa in 1998-99, the overhead kick in 2000. Oh and he scored 5 against Ipswich.
As a Chelsea fans, tbh this duo is too underrated and didn't talk to much...I don't know why? They one of the best strike partner in PL history maybe ever??
at the time watching them play, I didn't think anything too amazing was happening. i just remember utd having an all round solid squad. even their backups were low key legendary. raymond van der gouw, henning berg, david may, ole and teddy. looking back at that season as a non utd fan, i have to say it was the greatest team i ever had the pleasure of seeing. at that time for an english team to win a champs lg was almost impossible. from my 1st knowledge of footy in the 92/93 season up to now. no group of players has come close for me. arsenal invincibles are close but they didn't do the treble.
Brilliant stuff. Last time i had requested you to use more clips. But the interplay between these two were so good that I loved watching the clips over and over
We had 2 seasons with two players at their peak just working well together. EPL and Europe has strong defences so the number of goals they got were exellent in that period. BTW 1999-2000 season overhead kicks were fantastic.
"Yorke was the flashier player who liked to score chipped goals", video followed by Cole scoring a chipped goal, lol. I get your point tough. good video. Not a Man U fan but I'm a Trinbagonian, so I love Yorke regardless
I think this video is great and these two were amazing together but I have to say the best partnership the prem has ever seen is Les Ferdinand and Shearer. If you check their combined goals in 96-97 season they scored 49 goals its insane. If only they could have stayed together.
The documentary was well done, very cool. I actually went to school with Yorke in the same village, which is pronounced as "Caynan" and located in the west of Tobago. Also, he was not extremely poor."

Those two were great for their time, but I have every reason to believe those two would be much better in today's system. In today's football, the only formation that uses two strikers would be diamond. The would be helped by full backs rather than wingers and they would have to adapt with a number 10 behind them. For argument's sake, let's put those two in Ole's current Manchester United team, replacing Martial and Rashford. Ole has played with the diamond formation before and I believe he would make use of it to accomodate his former teammates. Yorke has the dribbling ability down and Cole is a calm and composed finisher. With Ole's style of play, instead of having 4 attacking players, he would put 5 up front. Those five would be the protagonists of this video, Shaw, Wan Bissaka, and Bruno. Shaw would struggle because of the lack Rashford in front of him and AWB would have to work harder without the likes of James or Greenwood. But Bruno would have a field day with the assists he's gonna get. I believe 20 goals each would be easy for them in a season.
