Verity Lambert was against us ever meeting the Time Lords. She said not everything should be revealed and explained.

    Agreed.
In fact, I think that Doctor Who with Time Lords, Daleks, Cybermen and the Master showing up every series (or every other or so) is FAR TOO SMALL a storytelling cosmos. It's way past time to move on from all those familiar things and explore just how horrifyingly weird things can be.

In "The Ark", it was the 57th segment of time and all of Dalek history was in the 1st segment of time

The Doctor is back to being a mysterious figure of an unknown origin, travelling through time and space, just like the 1960s

Mmm, I think you're right. I think the best appearances of the Time Lords were their first appearance and that brief snippet in Colony in Space, and some of the Gallifrey audio stories, but beyond that, I think they've lost their edge. I have doubts about the Timeless Child thing to the point I think its a big con; it truly does not help Chibnall did a terrible job in writing it and its long-term outcome, and rushed through the Flux so you were left with more questions than answers since Jodie was given terrible material to work with.
But my doubts about Doctor Who began in Moffat's era, when he became so focused on being clever and writing about the Doctor's past. It has become mind-numbingly dull, boring, tedious and frustrating.
I think....Doctor Who should have been written like Sliders, where the Doctor and the Time Lords have control not only over a single reality, but the whole multiverse as it gives out dozens of potential story ideas, and the Time Lords should have been like the Temporal Variance Authority from Loki.
That was how they were originally envisioned.

Is something wrong with the sound on the video?

Could just be me, but I'm only getting audio to my left ear from your mic. Clips are stereo, and video was very interesting! Still watched all the way through haha

For me I don’t find the Timeless Child twist all that interesting. It feels like a very cliche and boring, a trite and meaningless backstory. You make a valid point about the Time Lords and I more or less agree, however I think it’s strange to bring them back in series nine then genocide them for a second time not too long afterwards. It makes bringing them back at all feel rather meaningless.

I love the video, and it's an idea I don't entirely disagree with. My issue with it is that I don't think the people who disliked the timeless child arc (such as myself) disliked the idea of a timeless child, they don't like the doctor being the timeless child.
The whole appeal of the doctor for a number of people is that they turned against the corruption. They had the choice of being one of them and decided to stand up to what they believed in.
But the timeless child ark retroactively justifies their leaving, nature vs. nurture,
It also makes the entire crack in space and time from Matt smith's series irrelevant, the doctor saved the timelords, the timelords saved the doctor, but they didn't have to, they could of just let him regenerate.
I mean, I agree the timelords were overdone and needed to cool off for a while but I don't think the timeless child was the way to solve the problem.

And neither do I. I just think that, for better or for worse, the timeless child was evidence that the show has moved past them. The thesis of the video was the title. I don't think the execution of the timeless child was done well at all either. I just like that all the regeneration stuff never has to be brought up again.

@@JeremyDuncan yeah, no as I said, I have no issue with the statement and do agree. my issue is that I get defensive too easily, my apologies.
