Part of what makes it so ‘refreshing’ is their compositional skill & commitment to interesting chord progressions & chord forms, that commitment to quality soulful music, using elite level musicianship, that displays their love for the genre. Even with their obvious past decades influences, they still are able to approach music & performance with their own personal flavor. 👍
Silk Sonic is made up of the super duo of Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars. Both are phenomenal talents, though most people know Bruno’s work better. Anderson .Paak is a rapper, singer, drummer whose raspy vocals you hear in the ad-libs. “Let ride, let ride, let ride!”
They have wonderful chemistry and came together to form Silk Sonic while working together in the studio during the pandemic. Check out some of their interviews. They are hilarious together and it reflects in their music.

Certainly has a 70's sound to me and I really enjoyed this song. I haven't followed Bruno Mars but what I have heard from him, I have enjoyed. Thanks for your reaction Dani.

Well ,if it's sound of the 70's it must be Tuesday. I agree, we need a refreshing sound in music.I have been reading up and listening to Kate Bush .Get the lyrics and try Babooski.Most refreshing then and now.
The title "Love Train" threw a curve at me. Nice job by Bruno Mars, but the real Love Train is quite different and was done by the O'Jays! Check it out!
This song is actually "Love's Train" by Con Funk Shun. Written by Michael Cooper and Felton C. Pilate II and released in 1982.

Well I listened to the hustle first so yea the same era but called Motown music it is was best in soul r&b music in late 60s early 70s I thought no don’t quote me but original lead singer was chef on South Park if you’re a fan you know of him in early episodes but a falling out made him quit the show 😪 but Bruno does ok 👍🏼 that’s how all those bands did it from Shiites to blue tones music then wasn’t political even with Vietnam war getting over or Nixon carter presidency era
The singer "chef" on South Park was Issac Hayes and was famous for the Theme from the movie "SHAFT" (Below I have added the link for the music)
