I for one really appreciate you making this, it shows exactly how it REALLY is on these adventures! And to think you did this on top of making all the other videos, incredible mate! There's just too much in there to mention anything in particular other than to say WELL DONE!
Agreed. A huge effort to put all this together, and I related to a lot of it. Top stuff.
Thanks Steve. Always remember to have the camera running when things go wrong. The brain goes into survival mode and tells you to forget filming and focus on what's important, but it does make entertaining viewing once the dust has settled.
And I'm s subscriber to your channel. It's a weird life we have, isn't it.
This is how both of you should shoot, show the reality of it all. The hiccups, bloopers and the unexpected downsides of the journey
There are too many 'perfect' videos on RUclips. Life is far from perfect. Thanks gents
The reality of RUclips video creation... "I hope it's not a dump!"
You and Steve Marsh show why RUclips is the premiere place for television entertainment. Two guys from similar places doing similar type of content yet vastly different but equally entertaining. Love how you share your lives and journeys with us.
Definitely, watched both before they both knew about each other 😅😅 or so I think. RUclips brings like mindedness together. 😊
They’ve collaborated more than once.
@Joe-ir1npthey did a contest going around Scotland in opposite directions: each filmed their journey, meeting up about half way round. Great collaboration, and just a little competition. I watch you both.
i don't know which one to prefer.
Well said! 🎉
What an insight Scott into what really goes on in trying to put together a You Tube video, great video & well done. Keep up the great work :)
These videos make me feel like I've been away on a journey without all the inconvenience of actually travelling. Really look forward to these every weekend.
Strange person
@@DaleSteel why?
Inconvenience? What Inconvenience! Self inflicted 😂
@@roberteustace4152 I actually like travelling but I can’t do it every week 🙂
Watching various travel challenge videos and attempting a few things myself made me realise I'm a poor traveller as I get irritated after about 3 hours...hate poor signage in places
The downtime, waiting and stressing is just insane… but we love all that you do!
A ‘warts and all’ video was a genius idea and it amazes me how you managed to keep track of all the segments that you needed to film.
My advice is always travel with ear plugs and an eye / sleep mask. I started with this on flights but also on trains and buses but also good for what form of accommodation you end up staying in.
Exactly. I can imagine staying in those noisy places for the night without ear plugs. I discovered them in Greece when I wasn't able to sleep for a week because of the noise from the street. Now, even at home I use them. No dog is going to wake me up before 8.
Great video Scott..as a fellow travel agent of nearly 40 years I know EXACTLY where you are coming from !!
nothing wrong with your wee jollies, tween you and the laddie marsh yous have both given me great places to go see, keep up the great work and ignore those who moan about yer jollies, I love them.
Excellent video. It shows the hurry-up-and-wait of travel bloggers, long hours, uncomfortable accommodation to stick on budget, and the not-so-glamorous side. Not an easy job or lifestyle choice. We appreciate the hours you put in and planning.
Oh my, I thought I could imagine this in between stuff but NO, you have my respect Scott!!!
New subscriber here - love your work, and especially the sense of humor (perfection of the ability to warm up the sausage roll and still being stone cold).
I love this behind the scenes Hour long videos. Shows all the work and effort you put into the videos. I would love to see more of these!
Really enjoyed this video Scott. I didn’t understand really how much effort goes into making even ‘simple’ RUclips videos until I started making a few myself. You take it to another level with your planning and tight connections😅
Love this behind the scenes style video. And all your other videos. Cheers from Norway.
This was brilliant Scott, you are a brilliant vlogger. Make 🏴 very proud.
From Italy. Thank you for your videos, your way of traveling is exactly what I love. No expensive hotel, it's only so you really get to know places and people
This was EPIC. Thanks so much for sharing the behind-the-scenes!
That Bergamo "hotel" sounds horrendous! But one little travel tip that really saves me is take ear plugs! It really does make a massive difference to sleep in noisy environments, including on planes.
Having watched your recent Italian videos I can see how you've fitted in this video, it's amazing you're very clever, well done 😊
I really enjoyed the video. You should do the Brittany ferries mini cruise from Plymouth to Santander. It's only £99 & that includes a cabin both ways, although you only get about 3 hours in Santander.
Thanks for this behind the scenes look at YouTubing. If there’s one thing that really makes my blood boil it’s the absence of signage, and the resulting waste of time trying to find somewhere important (like a toilet). You included some useful travel hacks too, which I have noted for possible future use. Again, thank you, your efforts are very much appreciated.
I've been following you for a few months now. Love your content. Entertaining, educational. Fun. I'm in South Wales. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
Hi Scott just subscribed to your channel. I think your ‘warts and all’ video really worked showing everything going wrong it was quite refreshing😊
Fantastic scott👍really appreciate your hard work "you tubing." What a carryon you encountered...we love going on these journeys with you..atleast you got your pizza and your beer....well deserved..look forward as always to your next adventure.🍕
Oh am I glad my travel days are over. Thanks for laying bare your vlogs efforts that I so enjoy. This vlog is a classic as we had no idea of what the two best vloggers , Scott and Steve go through and make it humorous and fun for us to have adventures we would never be able to laugh at if those trials happen to us. Hang in there and make sure you get up to altitude and keep us watching! 🇨🇦
Thank’s for the insight, I’m exhausted just watching.
Great video, Scott. The sleeping pod made me chuckle, a pod to rest easy, yet the electrics are dodgy, the blind doesn't go all the way down, and one of the films is called Nightmare 😂
Hope you're well. I am looking forward to your next videos. Andy.
Outstanding Scott lad, great behind the scenes style look, thanks!
A great video Scott, really well done. Didn’t think I’d watch an hour long video but it was so interesting I was hooked from the start. Thanks for all your efforts.
13:11 you walked pass my office here in Milan, wish I had known you were here I might tag along and be happy to be your camera guy. Best of everything for this great channel, always fun to watch your videos. cheers
Well done Scott. Love watching your videos and your unfiltered honesty.
Shooting videos are hard
I've stumbled a few times trying to make something interesting and having to reshoot especially if I mess up my words.
Keep doing what you're doing😊
Your a great man 😅 love your antics and style, and it’s not overly polished either. Plus love your insider tips for little perks & freebie’s which frequent travellers & travel trade know about.
Great explanatory video Scott. You don't half suffer for your art ! 😁
God Scott, you make me laugh so much! When you noticed the heating was sky high in the hotel and you said ''WHIT'' I spat out my tea laughing! Funnily enough this happened to me a couple of days ago in an hotel here in NL, and no matter how much I fiddled with the air con it kept going back to 25. Maybe it's just us Scots, but that overheating of hotel rooms drives me round the bend! Loved this behind the scenes peek and keep up the good work!
I think this video is my new favorite on the channel. I never really thought about the logistics and cost associated with doing these videos I like so much. If one wishes to make a profit on the video (and one does I am sure) every penny must be carefully watched.
Great to see what the life of a blogger is like Scott.
So much fun to get a glimpse behind the curtain! Thanks for taking us along.
Really loved this behind the scenes video. Watched it until the end!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video, Scott. It's the second of such you've filmed that I've viewed, and personally think they're excellent. It just shows that a RUclipsrs life isn't all fun and a bed of roses
Wow that was awesome. And what you do to make these videos happen. Very appreciated. Thank you so much Scott.
II always take much pleasure in all your videos. I love your style and personality. Thanks a lot. Alain, from Marseille.
Brilliant video as always!! Have watched all the other videos that you created whilst you were there in Italy.
Crazy to think that both Ryanair and Aer Lingus selling transfer connections through Dublin for the facilities to be closed.
Hope all is well, take care
Fantastic video Scott. Absolutely loved it. Love all your videos but this one was exceptional. Parts gave me anxiety for you. Lack of sleep. The uncertainty of it all. Could watch you for hours and hours. ❤
I really enjoyed the video. I know that a behind-the-scenes video like this takes a lot of work. It makes me know that when things go wrong as a regular traveler, it’s not just me! I also watched all of the related five videos and each was great. (Wish I could travel on Singapore Airlines!)
Love the videos, stay strong and keep going
Brilliant video. Absolutely loved it.
Your TV charging tip is pretty clever, never thought of it when I desperately needed a charger I either lost or stopped working.
This is a very skillfully produced video, obviously a lot of planning went into regards continuity, basically you were covering videos yet to be filmed, but knowing that by the time of this video's release, your viewers had already seen......lol. I am confusing myself thinking about it,,,,,lol. You are a proper You Tuber, very knowledgable of the subjects you cover, and your syle of presentation is very laid back and friendly. I just love your work. Thanks for sharing and appreciative of all the time and effort you put into making these vlogs.
Great video. It was really interesting seeing behind the scenes. Thank you for the hacks as well
Scott I don't know how you do it with not much sleep
Would love to see a video of what you have in your backpack 😊
That was really interesting - I honestly think I prefer these warts n all vlogs to the polished ones. You also showed the right attitude to dealing with things as they go wrong - just roll with it. My first big trip of 2023 went wrong on the second leg as a drunk had to be escorted off the Eurostar by Police at Lille. At 11am! The resulting thirty minute delay toppled all the dominoes and I ended up having to rejig the entire journey on the fly. It actually was great, as I got to experience things I wouldn't have otherwise, including lovely beer on a deserted late afternoon ICE in Bavaria, a late night sausage and mash feast in Munich and experiencing for myself the notorious Munich-Vienna 'Night Train' - the one that is actually a positioning move for OBB to get its commuter trains back to Rostock for maintenance. The highlight was arriving exhausted at the hotel in Vienna twelve hours late, and the warm welcome from the staff.
Airports though - they are generally unspeakable. I flew for work for twenty years and eventually would only take certain routes and airlines to avoid the worst ones.
Thyank you for this-- I thought I might be the only one to have troubles when travelling: like the two hour hold-up because the train had run into a wild boar on the track...
Love the videos and appreciate all the hard work you put in to make them. While on holiday last week l didn’t have breakfast at the hotel. Opted to get a sticky bun and hot chocolate instead while walking the streets of the town l was staying at. I have been watching too many of your videos 😂😂
Thanks Scott for taking us behind the scenes. I’m sure you’ll have been asked this before but I’d like to see how you put the videos together before publishing them; what cameras do you use, what storage system, what video editing software etc. What ever it is you’re doing a great job.
Just watched your behind the screen video, absolutely brilliant. Half way through reading your book the longest train journey, it’s a good read.😊
I would love to one day see a video of you with trains on the Italian Riviera and in Genoa.
I love your travel videos but I'm even more interested in your behind-the-scenes videos! I never realized how much waiting time is involved!
I always enjoy watching your videos Scott.
For the behind the scenes insights, plus everything else you do! 😮
Hi John, thanks for your support. I'm glad you enjoy the channel.
Great behind the scenes video. Loved it. You’re certainly a better “traveling light” person than I am. Very impressive.
I always think how different this would be in the past before budget airlines and the internet .
Research was a lot more difficult but the traveling could be done, indeed you could do some routes that don’t exist any more due to budget airlines, such as Dover-Oostende or Harwich-Hamburg. The biggest difference is that you wouldn’t have been able to vlog! You would be limited to still photos and a diary, maybe an audio tape recording. Assuming you could afford one, a video tape camera was too bulky and heavy to carry around.
You work hard and put in the hours. You have my respect Scott
Loved this Scott.
You are great Scot. A man after my heart. Love your 'parsimony', as in buying stuff when it is cheaper. A euophemism for being seing sensible! Done a lot of travelling...in my latter years and can relate big time! You are an honest guy! Just, embrace the technology, cos without it, yiou would be ******D! Cheers! Keep em coming! My son is a RUclipsr so I fully relate! Sleep well!
Very enjoyable "behind the scenes" of how you go about your Channel, a great idea, thanks
I like that lounge at the business centre in Barcelona. It doesn’t have the range of food and drinks that you’d find at the airside lounges but it’s always lovely and quiet, probably because nobody can find it. There’s never more than 3 or 4 people in there. It’s open from 7am to 10pm daily. You get 4 hours there with priority pass and LoungeKey. There should have been someone at the business centre reception
Loved this video, thanks for the TV USB trick.
Wonderful video Scott! 💪❤
Great Video. We been to most of those airports. Dublin, Bergamo , Rome, Barca etc.
Firstly loving your videos! I'm confused by your decision to spend time at Roma Termini before heading to Milan? As you say inside the station there are no seats outside of cafe's etc., but just outside there are parks, museums and churches as well as non-chain cafe's all within 200 metres of the station and Monte (always a nice district to hang around), is only a 15 minute stroll.
Probably my favourite channel at the moment.
Love your videos Scot. WIll be going to Bergamo soon, so its nice to see it now to familiar myself
Good to see how it really is, I wonder how many of your colleagues could show us how it happens with such delivery skill, my pet hate is having to hang around.
I do worry about your safety sometimes x enjoyed your vlog muchly
Really enjoyed your video Scott…..thank you…🙏
Great idea to show how much effort it takes to produce your work. It look exhausting at times
excellent video, great watch
Scott you could be setting a new trend here sir!
it was unintentionally hilarious especially in Milan distracted by fountains and searching for WW2 bullet holes. I for one wanted to see these bullet holes but you gave up. Also featuring a luxurious hotel and leading the viewer into thinking you were staying at it ha ha😊
Yet another enjoyable film thank you
Great video Scott. Don't know how you keep going with so little sleep. I'm worn out just watching the video! Interesting to see the PRONair MD-87 still parked up at Barcelona (1:02:04), seeing that the company ceased flying in 2009.
The ads both before and during the video averaged at 55secs way way above the averages of 7/20 seconds made watching the video more of a chore🤔
That was really interesting, thank you
Absolutely brilliant 😊
I love these behind the scenes vids. Makes everything seem more real. Although I don’t film I have had my fair share of travelling cheap and thus having to make sacrifices. I have Ralin, Rifa, Warsaw booked in October but I am flying out of Luton and back into Birmingham yet I live just outside Manchester. I am also foxing a budget US trip in February which will involve main DC with a little of New York. There will be plenty of budget components there.
What about the wild nights in clubs and bars when you bump into other RUclipsrs looking list? 😂😂😂 interesting video Scott , keep them coming mate
Thank you for the reality video.
Love your adventures. Take my subscription 😂
I was just in Ireland (May 1st-12th) including driving a rental car for 8 days. Some things didn't work out as planned but nothing I couldn't deal with and sometimes were for the better. I found by luck a church in a town south of Cork where my father's family line came from and was possibly baptized at. I lucked out with sunny awesome weather most of the trip. My cheap rental car (arranged with my flight ticket on United from EWR on Travelocity) was supposed to be a Fiesta. Instead I got an Audi A3 saloon. Sometime got lost driving at times but eventually saw some interesting area most tourists don't see as well as finding surprising beautiful places. Some accommodations were overpriced and tiny but others like 3 B&B/guest houses I stayed in with filling breakfasts or a 4 star hotel near Cork Airports for a low price as a holiday weekend offset the lesser ones. When driving used map for highlighted 'scenic routes' and not disappointed. Saw a historical site north of Dublin going back up to 5000 years ago, lucking out with an unsold tour ticket at the last minute. Plenty of good food, some good beer, good people. That is why we travel.
"Assuming nothing goes wrong at Dublin."
Yeah, I was once stuck there for 8 hours waiting on a flight back to Embra.
Enjoy Italy and Como ( My birthplace) It is always an adventure traveling in Italy ;-)
I appreciate the longer videos Scott , sometimes you make only like 10-15 min video to cover the entire journey so a longer video is highly appreciated, keep up the good work Scott
Great video. Thanks.
Fantastic video Scott! Having seen all the other videos of this trip, it was great to understand what it takes to get to "cruising altitude"!
someone has got to do it. great effort Scott, loved it.
Do enjoy the videos they are informative and great to watch. Seeing a few more replies to comments go along way , you dont always see that which is a shame
Used to walk to Edinburgh Airport (then RAF Turnhouse) in the early 60s almost every holiday and weekend from our house at the Maybury. Worst pizzas I ever had were in Italy.
Have to agree on the appalling signage in BCN T1 - I was flying business class BCN-MAD-DUB and could not find the 'special' Madrid shuttle check-in area, or the access to the fast track security lane in the normal terminal either so just used normal security; and got slightly lost finding the Madrid gates area. The airside lounge for that is good though.
In your wanderings around Milan, at around 16 minutes, you did not find any traction poles dating from 1943. What you did find, but made no comment on, was old 'Peter Witt' trams dating from the 1930s still in every day service on routes 1 and 33 and possibly some other quieter routes which do not justify long modern articulated trams! These trams must be some of the oldest public transport vehicles in service anywhere in the world.
Please do more videos like this, I really enjoyed it.
