More than 20 classes? SA server have witch/wizard, ninja, sorc, lahn, striker, guarian and nova, theres no more classes atleast ive never seen anywhere.

for newer players that have difficulty picking a class to play. for me I just pick the class type that I like. for example I like to play fast/ranged/female classes. so the 3 characters I play are Ranger, DK, Nova. Ranger have range, DK have both range and speed, and nova is a speed demon.
I'm the same way, I tend to gravitate toward caster types, or ranged classes, and oddly enough in BDO my favorite classes to play right now are Guardian and my Corsair. I just LOVE getting close and getting dirty with these two classes and being able to wipe the area clean of mobs pretty quick. Maybe I'm just too new to all the other classes in game, I am fairly to BDO period, hahaha, but I really enjoy playing my Corsair.
Well, i have played BDO for like 5 days, but after playing soulworker until all the way to lv 63 I love close/mid range combat Type with 180'~360' attack pattern, so i have choosen Musa, and im happy with playing

You are the first creator of a "beginner class guide" creator to actually explain what awakening and succession mean. As someone who hasn't even downloaded the game yet, I had no clue, so thanks for that. :) I understand that there's a LOT to explain in a beginning guide so things will get missed, but these two words get mentioned all the time so creators really should explain them when using them. I appreciate that you did.

I’ve played every class for about a year off and on. I must say that playing every class has definitely guided me towards what I love to play which is ranger. She was the first I ever played but I wanted to make sure I didn’t enjoy another even more. I’m thankful I did as I don’t look back when I play and I learned a lot of game mechanics. Just wish I was good at pvp so I didn’t get shit on by my friends

It turned out that my witch ended up being my life skiller, but I just have a huge amount of problems getting stuck in succession when I need to be an Awakening. I'd recently level the guardian so I appreciate your specific advice about newer players and guardians. I played during the first season and played a mystic and really enjoyed it so I guess that's my other option.
Thank you for this! I'm considering re-installing this game and actually giving it a try now. As I watched all of these, I felt like I would start with Witch, Wizard or Lahn. Then you came to Shai at the end and I was in love with her aesthetic style and her unique style of play. Playing pianos and flutes and stuff, I'm obsessed! Of course, her PVE and PVP are going to be terrible. Why can't they make a good support class that can also stand on their own to feet? I'm primarily a solo player, so that's disappointing. I probably won't start as a Shai for my first character, but I'll have to eventually make one just so I can play some music. Lol.
Definitely a disappointing bit regarding her. The support vibe appealed to me, but several others do seem fun. Lahn, Nova, Sorc, and Sage. Archer surprised me.
Can we expect a 2022 update? Always loved these! Even after having played most classes in some capacity. You make the best class guide videos hands down. Terrific quality and showcase of classes
As an archer I like how flued the class is en he is really strong in higher AP PvE spots if the extra DP is there. Archer does need some help in the future with the highest end game grind spots because it is just not able to help with Olun valley and not come out worse when you would do that with another class. Not able to be able to hit back attacks on slow enemies is a real down grade for this class
Yes more back attacks and maybe some higher base Monster DR on Archer and honestly I'd be happy. I don't need Archer to be the best in anything, just want to play this fluid and swag elf and not feel like I'm playing NG+++++
im playing archer rn. but it has litirally zero i frames and the forward guards dont even seem to work. love the class but im going back tyo my ninja ;p

I can somewhat solo elvia orc camp but not as good as other class
I've been on a long bdo break. Played on ps4 when it first released and enjoyed it a lot. but I get bored of a class very easily. I have played 9 different classes. now that I've switched from ps4 to pc I want to play bdo again. came here to see the classes that are new for me and omg, nova looks so much fun

I always come back to this its very good advice. What i do need tho is an update with Corsair, Drakania, etc. I know you have videos on them but showing the character in those videos, and giving a rating like in this video is totally different.
Nice list! I really think awakening sage should be 4 stars for PVE. He has excelent pack to pack mobility and deals insane AoE. He is a monster in PVE.
Of the ratings I think Awakening Sage ended up being 3.5 or so on my scale, but I went conservative on him because he is so new still. I do agree he is good in PVE, so hopefully it doesn't deter people from checking him out.
I just started playing this last night. Built a new pc with a 2600x and 1660 super and 16 gigs of good ram and wow it was running flawless on the highest setting was very happy this game gorgeous and the combat is really fun. I picked a guardian she really cool. Dont know if I want to stick to get but she love her aesthetic. Hope the crafting and all is fun. Life skills I think it called. Gonna try and get into it never really do much crafting. But I seen bartering and it looks fun. I want to get a ship and sail around selling the goods
yup, this is a good take on the subject. i enjoy trying my alts while grinding but i'm so used to my succ sorc combos my fingers search for those specific keys:D
You did a great job and this was fairly accurate. I don't blame you being concise with 22 classes, you have no choice unless it's a 10 hr video lol. That's what I love about this game, it's not perfect balance but it's still amazing for so many specs. 42--no second for shai/archer- specs... then some games only have a few classes and people go: "BUT ITS BALANCED!" yeah usually not by much AND end up being boring.
lets see how the upcoming balance changes will be in practice, but from looking at the ratings in your video, all classes seem to be pretty similiar in strenght unlike 1 and 2 years ago
I wouldn't say there are any BAD classes outright. But the ones that rate really high are usually much farther ahead than the normal classes. The hope was to buff all classes to that level, so hopefully we can get there by next year.
I recently gave a chance to BDO after i heard it's going to get a Dungeon, i made a Corsair and it is really fun to play but i wanna make alt characters as well, i make videos for my country (Hungary) if u don't mind im going to translate this video and add my personal opinion for the Hungarian players cos this one was really helpful and they can start playing this game even if its an "old" mmo!! Keep up the good work =)
I like the ratings for the most part, but I feel that there are a lot of 5* ratings but not really any 1* ratings. I feel like that makes a lot of classes look “middle of the pack” when they aren’t.
@@Ivan220996 I'm a main maehwa, and I felt he was a bit too generous with it's ratings. Maehwa, and musa, are probably among the worst classes right now. Their kit is a bit weak compared to the rest of the game, plus the current state of the meta and the game itself, they just feel like two outdated classes. Sure, they can perform well if played correctly, but you need to be very good to do just fine, while classes like Sorceress, for example, considered the hardest class to play, is probably the strongest class in the game if played well.
@@iaaaaaks u forgot the part where even though both maehwa and musa both need buffs maehwa gets outshined by musa which makes it a worse case tbh. They need to buff them both imo. But sage and striker is steamrolling everything.
First of all ty for the list and all hardworking ; secondly i think Sage awa is excellent for pve grinding thnx to his lightning speed mobility and 5 sec cd large mob pull skill with high aoe damage and also for 1v1 u cant keep up with awa sage like sorc most of the time plus range grab (my humble opin ofc) Keep it come !!:)

I don't like the idea of main only 1 class cuz it would bore me fast. So I main 9 classes and progress all their gears too. More work and more time, but I enjoy it this way even more. Can just switch char to grind zone, save time of travelling.
So, I'm not going to go too much into this, but a majority of what was said about archer was correct, however, it is a bit of a dis-service to say that archer can't grind at high end areas only because of his low DP scaling. The main reason archer suffers at high end areas (specifically areas that the mobs can't be down attacked) is because of how few back attack modifiers archer has on his skills. Unlike most other classes, archer only has back attack modifiers on very few skills, and because of this does not get a multiplier like many other classes that rely on them for a main source of damage. Archer suffers at high end areas because of low DP scaling, yes. But you have to account for the fact that it has almost no relevant back attacking skills.
@@AndersGallar Also, one thing I would dispute is the ranking for archer PVP. Rating it four stars isn't necessarily incorrect, but it mostly depends on what level of skill you're playing against. In terms of lower geared and less knowledgeable players, archer is an extremely good class at exposing weaknesses in someone's movement and skill rotations. But, once players gain skill beyond just the basics of their class, archer falls off quite heavily since it's AP and DP scaling are quite low (especially past 281 AP compared to most other classes at that bracket) and the classes weaknesses start to poke through (mainly that it's largest damaging skills are melee ranged skills) and it's gaps in skills like Glissade, Glide, Tactical Strike, and Radiant become quite apparent. So, I would dispute the four star ranking and say it more closely falls into the three star range (as of May 2021).
Would agree Archers weaknesses in SA are brutal and leave you exposed to stuns constantly in group pvp, plus several of our highest damage abilities do not have SA, meaning we are easy to cc if we actually use our high damage abilities
@@TheSovietUnion_ In fact I'd even stretch this to 3 star across the board. It's a CC bot in largescale, and just very average in the relevant solo PVE spots now and unusable in the party spots.
As a Valk since launch, most of this video’s information is ON POINT 👌🏻 I wouldn’t say I’ve mastered Awakening but when you get those kills? Trust me when I say It’s very satisfyinggg 😅😂 Succession however is very fun and beginner friendly, very easy to master when we consider muscle memory. Overall, I have been enjoying Valk as both Awak. and Succ ✨
obviously i haven't played even half the games classes but I've really found nova and sage to be the most fun, with Nova taking a slight lead in the charge there. i did go awakening on my sage but thanks to this breakdown i might go back to succession cuz i don't really know how much pvp use I'll get out of him and i actually like the kyve skills better in general anyways. the kibelius is a super cool looking weapon to use but i feel like it slows him down in general and makes moving between the weapons a bit clunky and after spamming the spear skills a while the "wow" factor kinda goes away and the function loses its luster.
good choice, DK got some sweet buffs last patch. and she seems to be pretty good in current meta, I don't think the ratings in this video does DK justice for war.
What's the most similar class in BDO to WoW rogue class? I like being able to be invisible so i could ambush ppl and also the vanish skill for when i want to dip the fuck out

Just set a picture which is Main and which is Awakening.
we should get a 3rd path called ascension or something like that. that's only the awakening weapon for those who likes awk weapons and hate weapon swapping when using the actual awakening path.
I love the aesthetic of Awakened Sage. I don't play the game since I cannot launch it for some reason and also because the game is so controversial but damn that class is so cool.
im a lahn main and i can indeed confirm that the clsas in succession is amazing in pve, while awakening is great in pvp as he said in the video, however succession with practice can be very good in pvp 1v1s due to the protection you have.
pls help me i got the game and then i clicked start game then something popped out saying "greeting adventrerur you need to get a package to start you epic adventure in black desert please get yourself a package to start your journey" then it redireced me to the place to buy packages i closed the tab and try to start the game again and it keeps telling me to buy package
There is a class I would rank lower imo tho which would be succ zerker 1v1 being very bad requires a lot of work to pull off protections are bad and if you SA trade you will lose against anyone that is similar or higher gear honestly he is top 3 worst 1v1 with shai and succ ranger imo we joke in are discord all the time that succ zerker is melee succ ranger without the damage. The ones I would rank higher would be succ striker as its stronger in 1v1 than awakening but awakening is better in group pvp and lastly sage pve both awakening and succ is right there with the top dogs like succ striker, lahn, and hash he actually pulls ahead of succ hash in many areas on either spec. On succ zerker tho i dnt like being a downer about my favorite spec in the whole game I will always enjoy it no matter what I just hope one day we get some buffs without ppl disregarding the spec being in a bad state cause it has good pve aesthetically its so cool and has the most unique E buff in the game if they fix some gaps and bugs as well as give maybe 1 or 2 more protection FG or SA and make all the roars SA intead of FG the class would be in a great spot for everything in the game here's to hoping. IMO about Ninja, Awakening is much easier to play than Succession while being just as good, if not better, at PvE. Most likely going to be especially so after the upcoming buffs. Succ Ninja requires very high APM and if it's better at PvE than Awakening, it pretty much necessitates that high APM.
@@AndersGallar PC NA here. And no, I was saying it's the other way around. It's easier to grind with Awakening Ninja, not harder. Succ Ninja is harder to play/grind with in my opinion. Higher APM required and more complicated combos with Succ Ninja vs. Awakening.
I downloaded the game for the first time today but seeing this video makes me torn of choosing a class. Damn. I'm leaning towards Guardian because that class looks so fun to play as! Still, I'm really intrigued by the Warrior, Witch, Nova and Striker too. Argh. The amount of classes to choose from in Black Desert excites me! xD

Sage: ~wears Greek armor. Has a lightning shaped spear. Eagle on helmet. Is literally zeus.

Listen, I'm a simple guy with simple interests. I see flashy and explosive abilities, I'm gonna enjoy it no matter the rating.

I like the ratings for the most part, but I feel that there are a lot of 5* ratings but not really any 1* ratings. I feel like that makes a lot of classes look “middle of the pack” when they aren’t.
Can you give example please? Starting out for the first time and there are so many options...
@@Ivan220996 I'm a main maehwa, and I felt he was a bit too generous with it's ratings. Maehwa, and musa, are probably among the worst classes right now. Their kit is a bit weak compared to the rest of the game, plus the current state of the meta and the game itself, they just feel like two outdated classes. Sure, they can perform well if played correctly, but you need to be very good to do just fine, while classes like Sorceress, for example, considered the hardest class to play, is probably the strongest class in the game if played well.
@@iaaaaaks u forgot the part where even though both maehwa and musa both need buffs maehwa gets outshined by musa which makes it a worse case tbh. They need to buff them both imo. But sage and striker is steamrolling everything.

First of all ty for the list and all hardworking ; secondly i think Sage awa is excellent for pve grinding thnx to his lightning speed mobility and 5 sec cd large mob pull skill with high aoe damage and also for 1v1 u cant keep up with awa sage like sorc most of the time plus range grab (my humble opin ofc)

Of the ratings I think Awakening Sage ended up being 3.5 or so on my scale, but I went conservative on him because he is so new still. I do agree he is good in PVE, so hopefully it doesn't deter people from checking him out.
I don't like the idea of main only 1 class cuz it would bore me fast. So I main 9 classes and progress all their gears too. More work and more time, but I enjoy it this way even more. Can just switch char to grind zone, save time of travelling.

So, I'm not going to go too much into this, but a majority of what was said about archer was correct, however, it is a bit of a dis-service to say that archer can't grind at high end areas only because of his low DP scaling. The main reason archer suffers at high end areas (specifically areas that the mobs can't be down attacked) is because of how few back attack modifiers archer has on his skills. Unlike most other classes, archer only has back attack modifiers on very few skills, and because of this does not get a multiplier like many other classes that rely on them for a main source of damage. Archer suffers at high end areas because of low DP scaling, yes. But you have to account for the fact that it has almost no relevant back attacking skills.

@@AndersGallar Also, one thing I would dispute is the ranking for archer PVP. Rating it four stars isn't necessarily incorrect, but it mostly depends on what level of skill you're playing against. In terms of lower geared and less knowledgeable players, archer is an extremely good class at exposing weaknesses in someone's movement and skill rotations. But, once players gain skill beyond just the basics of their class, archer falls off quite heavily since it's AP and DP scaling are quite low (especially past 281 AP compared to most other classes at that bracket) and the classes weaknesses start to poke through (mainly that it's largest damaging skills are melee ranged skills) and it's gaps in skills like Glissade, Glide, Tactical Strike, and Radiant become quite apparent. So, I would dispute the four star ranking and say it more closely falls into the three star range (as of May 2021).
Would agree Archers weaknesses in SA are brutal and leave you exposed to stuns constantly in group pvp, plus several of our highest damage abilities do not have SA, meaning we are easy to cc if we actually use our high damage abilities

@@TheSovietUnion_ In fact I'd even stretch this to 3 star across the board. It's a CC bot in largescale, and just very average in the relevant solo PVE spots now and unusable in the party spots.

As a Valk since launch, most of this video’s information is ON POINT 👌🏻 I wouldn’t say I’ve mastered Awakening but when you get those kills? Trust me when I say It’s very satisfyinggg 😅😂 Succession however is very fun and beginner friendly, very easy to master when we consider muscle memory. Overall, I have been enjoying Valk as both Awak. and Succ ✨

obviously i haven't played even half the games classes but I've really found nova and sage to be the most fun, with Nova taking a slight lead in the charge there. i did go awakening on my sage but thanks to this breakdown i might go back to succession cuz i don't really know how much pvp use I'll get out of him and i actually like the kyve skills better in general anyways. the kibelius is a super cool looking weapon to use but i feel like it slows him down in general and makes moving between the weapons a bit clunky and after spamming the spear skills a while the "wow" factor kinda goes away and the function loses its luster.

we should get a 3rd path called ascension or something like that. that's only the awakening weapon for those who likes awk weapons and hate weapon swapping when using the actual awakening path.

im a lahn main and i can indeed confirm that the clsas in succession is amazing in pve, while awakening is great in pvp as he said in the video, however succession with practice can be very good in pvp 1v1s due to the protection you have.

pls help me i got the game and then i clicked start game then something popped out saying "greeting adventrerur you need to get a package to start you epic adventure in black desert please get yourself a package to start your journey" then it redireced me to the place to buy packages i closed the tab and try to start the game again and it keeps telling me to buy package

There is a class I would rank lower imo tho which would be succ zerker 1v1 being very bad requires a lot of work to pull off protections are bad and if you SA trade you will lose against anyone that is similar or higher gear honestly he is top 3 worst 1v1 with shai and succ ranger imo we joke in are discord all the time that succ zerker is melee succ ranger without the damage. The ones I would rank higher would be succ striker as its stronger in 1v1 than awakening but awakening is better in group pvp and lastly sage pve both awakening and succ is right there with the top dogs like succ striker, lahn, and hash he actually pulls ahead of succ hash in many areas on either spec. Amazing video keep up the great work
good point on the succ zerk take , though I say the upcoming succession "core" skills will be helping succ classes in some areas

On succ zerker tho i dnt like being a downer about my favorite spec in the whole game I will always enjoy it no matter what I just hope one day we get some buffs without ppl disregarding the spec being in a bad state cause it has good pve aesthetically its so cool and has the most unique E buff in the game if they fix some gaps and bugs as well as give maybe 1 or 2 more protection FG or SA and make all the roars SA intead of FG the class would be in a great spot for everything in the game here's to hoping. It comes down to whatever class you’re most comfortable with. Become your true self
IMO about Ninja, Awakening is much easier to play than Succession while being just as good, if not better, at PvE. Most likely going to be especially so after the upcoming buffs. Succ Ninja requires very high APM and if it's better at PvE than Awakening, it pretty much necessitates that high APM.
I didn't find Awak harder to grind with than Ninja Succ personally, but I see your point. What region do you play in?
@@AndersGallar PC NA here. And no, I was saying it's the other way around. It's easier to grind with Awakening Ninja, not harder. Succ Ninja is harder to play/grind with in my opinion. Higher APM required and more complicated combos with Succ Ninja vs. Awakening.

I downloaded the game for the first time today but seeing this video makes me torn of choosing a class. Damn. I'm leaning towards Guardian because that class looks so fun to play as! Still, I'm really intrigued by the Warrior, Witch, Nova and Striker too. Argh. The amount of classes to choose from in Black Desert excites me! xD

I tried BDO one or few years ago, i wanted to play sorc, and i got traumatized, it was way to diff to play, i unistalled after few hours but something told me that the mech. of fights are really nice, should i try other classes or its too much skillfull game for a casual like me lol ?!
