  • Pioneer created a series of demonstration laserdiscs in the 80's and 90's, and this was the second one, created in 1989 entitled Pioneer Laser Optics II: The Future of Home Entertainment. Primarily intended to be shown on a loop in retail stores, it features clips from movies, explanations of the benefits of the format's video, audio, and special operational features. This is presented here in the order the segments appeared on the disc, but with the repeating sections on the second side removed since you, the viewer, are presumably NOT selling laserdisc players to the public with this video. :-D
Pity the poor salespeople who had to hear and see this over and over again, day after day, for hours at a time.

Technical: Captured from a 1994 Pioneer laserdisc player, model CLD-V121G, via composite video. The sound is digital on the disc, but captured in analog. Some luma and chroma corrections were applied, and each 480i field was converted to a frame, yielding a 60fps video that more closely simulates viewing on a CRT in 1989. Upconverted to 1080p60 to preserve image quality.
