Great in depth and professional review. I love your set ups for showcasing the figures as they make them easy to see. Then you're little "discussion forum" with your son at the end is a great way to offer more personal insights to help anyone decide to buy or pass on the figure. I myself think this is some grand piece of pop art that our generation has been owed for a long time. In almost 25 years no company ever bothered to accurately depict Keaton in costume until Hot Toys and Neca bothered to, and in such grand form as well. I can't believe that in only a matter of two years we get two great versions of this iconic film character each offering their own special touches. To be able to own either figure is like a small dream come true for anyone who grew up watching Batman '89 over and over again. I completely share in your enthusiasm for this figure and your video made me anticipate mine even more. Keep it up.
Great review! Not even considering the price different I think neca did a better job, hot toys face plate is better sculpted and painted, but the suit detail and pose ability is by far better on the neca, but either way it's a win win if you collect either scale.

Don't know if you mentioned it James (didn't watch the full video) but for the casual fan, if you had to pick one based on value for money? This Neca version for $90 or the Hot toys for $200+?
That is a tough call as they really are 2 different things at 2 different price points (like apples and oranges). It all depends really on how much you want to spend and what scale you like. That being said- $100 is much easier to spend than the $300+ that the Keaton HT currently goes for. And with both having their positives and negatives, the NECA would probably suffice just fine for a casual fan. :)
Now I have got him, thanks to your review, because I would of seen the eyes dead on and thought Neca messed up. But if you tilt the box back and let some light into the eyes, you see they're not crossed. What kind of stand did you use for him?
I just got mine today and opened it up to play with him only to find his right arm elbow joint will not bend! It looks like a defect in the glue or paint that was used because all the other joints are a darker black and look separate from the arm but this one is the same color as the forearm. Looks like it was made not to move but I know it was not. Has anyone heard of defects like this or have any suggestions? I'm really bummed I can't pose him. I contacted the eBay seller I bought it from hoping they will exchange him but I'm thinking that might not be an option. Is there a way to contact NECA for an exchange? Any help would be appreciated thanks
Hey, the grappling hook for the belt is pretty easy; just make sure it's on his right hand side and slide the straight bar under the first yellow capsule of the belt and then fasten the clip to the top. PATIENCE and be gentle. Cool Figure!!!
Having seen both the Hot Toys and Neca figures up close, I think Neca did a better job capturing Keaton's likeness. Neca also nailed the suit better. IMO, this is the finest "budget priced" collectible figure I've seen. Now if only Neca would do a Chris Reeve Superman, especially if they do it with this level of quality!!
I saw one over the holidays... it just felt very cheap to me compared to the Hot Toys version. So for me, it didn't command the asking price. Maybe if it had been $50...

Awesome review! When I worked for the studios down in Burbank. To save time and money the costume people would use vodka with water to remove wrinkles from costumes taken out of storage. Maybe that would work for the cape. Not sure though, anyway thanks for the review,man.
The lack of more accessories sucks a bit but I'll take the NECA figure over the Hot Toys one any day of the week due to the price. Holy crap that Hot Toys one is even more expensive now than when it first came out.
i been waiting for this but on the side it looks like keaton up close, front on its pretty me.. and that cape is just terrible, way to short!! great vid but very disappointed with the figure considering i missed the hot toys version an thought this would be ggod to get
Well, I tend to agree that it is a smidge short for my preference... there were different capes used for different scenes (running capes, driving capes, "swooshing" capes, etc) so I can't blast NECA too hard for that one. :)
motuclassics I like the cape hitting the floor, it's a better look, but it's not stopping me from getting it, I've already pre-ordered it, great review, I'm very happy it turned out great! I agree with the pose of him with his cape spread out! love that pose and scene in the movie. I guess my biggest issue is why can't these things come with a 25 cent plastic stand???? oh well.

That's exactly what put me off pulling the trigger on this guy, the cape is awful. When you try to pull off the over the shoulder look in this video he looks like a £10 kenner figure.

I got mine today. I'm absolutely blown away by this Batman. This is a great product for those (like me) who can't afford Hot Toys collectibles.

I am so getting this figure. I never had the money when the Hot Toys version was available, so this is a perfect alternative.
It's an excellent alternative to the Hot Toys figure in regards to price. Same with the 7 inch one NECA did as well.

Anyone with the NECA 89 Batman 1/4 Scale? Anyone know where the heck the holes in the cape are located to add the poles for the extended cape look?
