Thank you Nova world1. Since making this video we improved the wast pipe by buying a smaller pipe that fits inside the brown pipe. It now extends the wast system further. When travelling it slides inside the brown pipe and is held in place with a small bolt. There is a small hole drilled through both pipes. the bolt goes through these holes and the pipes are carried transversely under the caravan through the holes in the classy. Tied in place to safely secure them.
Great video, we’ve been staying on fully serviced pitches more and more recently. The pipe idea is so simple and is one we will defo use in the future. Have subscribed
Good video. How do you strap your pipe under the van? I carry mine in the front locker. I tried velcroing them to the roof of the front locker but they kept falling off.
Hi Dave, the holes in the Al-Co frame are just the right size for a plastic pipe to fit in across the caravan. I lash the pipe on one side and stop it moving around on the other with pipe insulation that is held on to the pipe with plastic cable ties. I hope this helps you.
Forgive my ignorance, but the fully service pitch do you have a place for the black water discharge too?, or you still have to carry your tank to a appropriated place for discharge?.Also on campgrounds that you don't have fully service what do you do with the gray water discharge?,(shower and Kitchen sink).Thank You (Planning to move to Portugal from USA just trying to understand how that works)
Hi jose, Portugal how wonderful. I can't tell you anything about Portugal except I want to visit too. In the UK there are many types of pitches but they all have somewhere to dispose of the black waste. Most Motor Homes and Caravans here have chemical toilets that you carry or pull to the disposal area. They are all different but they all work under the same principal. Empty the waste into a sewer or a holding tank. Water is usually near to this site and you can wash the toilet cassette out before filling it with chemicals. There are a few Super Pitches which include all weather surface, an electrical hook up bollard (including a TV aerial booster), drinking water, a ground level inlet to accept both grey waste and sewage and a privacy hedge between each pitch. The gray water which you collect into your own container under your van can then be wheeled to an appropriate drain, usually there are many of these points on a campsite, some sites encourage you to empty your grey waste into the hedge. There are drinking water points placed around the campsites if not on your own pitch.
Wouldn’t it be easier to pitch the van the right way round? Ie the waste and fresh water at the back of the van, everything would be shorter and you wouldn’t be scrambling under the van.
Hi Scot. Verity is the spice of life, or so they say. We considered all the options and the views were better pitched in this direction. Also the temperature of the sun on the side of the caravan, would have reduced the efficiency of the fridge. We considered all the options but we had options, that is the point. We could choose.
Good video, thanks for the tips. First time caravanner!
Hi Lee. We were all first timers once and we are still learning. 😀
