I’m in the fortunate position of being an airline pilot and at 41000ft today over the mid Atlantic, this comet was almost blinding. It’s absolutely stunning and something everyone should try to get out and see. Great video!
That's awesome! I want to be a commercial pilot, and these are one of these times which make me so excited to be one Especially for the red eye flights. The sky is BEAUTIFUL!
I a a retired Flt Attendant (AA Airlines, BOG based), and was also very fortunate in having seen several awesome events from up there, like launch of space shuttle right in front of cockpit going north into MIA airport from S.America, the ISS above us going in the very same direction as our flight (lasting nearly 15 minutes), another rocket launch at 4 a.m. I miss a lot ended!
These moments are so rare in life. This is the first video I have seen of yours and I hit subscribe. Love your style and I agree this helps a little bit right now! I'm hoping this stays bright for us in the southern hemisphere, fingers crossed.
Feeling the excitement, I was the same this morning when I went out and saw it with my naked eye. And on top of that, I got NLCs just under the comet, which is super rare on such a low latitude as Italy. In one day I got to see a comet and NLCs for the first time. Super happy, thank you so much Alyn for inspiring me to get up so early and go out, super worth it. If I could subscribe 2 or 3 times I would!
@@AlynWallace I couldn't believe it, I thought that must be just a weird cloud, but then I read it on the news and confirmed by other people. So amazing especially with the comet
I had the same reaction too! A mix of laughter, shaky hands, and silent pauses to grasp what we're seeing! Such an awesome experience. And so worth driving for hours to catch some dark and clear skies. Awesome you got to see the NCLs too and great vid Alyn! I actually bumped into a group with a telescope in the middle of the Canadian prairies at 3am. So random!
Been watching your channel for months in the USA... I'm waking up early tomorrow morning to photograph the planets and see this magnificent comet. I can feel your enthusiasm which makes me really excited
I love this channel. I feel like you connect with your audience on an emotional level, vs others that just seem to market a product. I can tell you are passionate about your craft, and I think thats a big reason why I enjoy your videos so much. I'm hoping myself to get out there tomorrow morning early, I can't wait to see this in person. best wishes and clear skies from Maryland, U.S.A
Love it, love it, love it! The excitement was palpable. Absolutely brilliant shots and time lapse , well worth the journey you made. There is no way I'm missing a shot of this comet!
Another great video Alyn and I ABSOLUTELY loved your reaction to capturing it! Alas, I got up at 3:45am in Minnesota to do the same thing but the clouds didn't cooperate...I also don't have the power of 51k subscribers praying for clear skies! As always, thank you for sharing!
I've been a subscriber since I found your video on how to do star trails and every one I've watched has been brilliant. They're so useful and your enthusiasm really shines through. Thanks Alyn.
I drove more than 2 hours to the South West coast too but the clouds decided to stay put! Brilliant work Alyn... love the shot and the timelapse is gorgeous!
I got to thank you on this one. I was just going to watch you photograph a comet which I really didn't know what to expect or had big expectations, but watching you all happy made me want to go to the balcony and try to find it. And it was great!! The only problem is that North of where I am there is Lisbon (Portugal) which produces A LOT of light pollution and it definitely is not visible at the naked eye (and very close to the horizon). Even so, I was able to find it and somehow I felt joy xD. Now, I will for sure look for a spot beyond Lisbon where I can find a darker sky and see if I can get some better shot! Well done and keep it up!
Can’t thank you enough for making this video. I’ve been up all night shooting the Milky Way and for the last Hour and a half Comet Neowise. Haven’t had so much fun in ages. Just waiting for the sunrise.
Great that you're finally allowed back out into the wild 😁 I'm looking forward to later this month when it's higher ... Hopefully the weather improves by then as well
Agree with Alyn. The astronomical community expect it to fade rapidly after the 15th July. The higher it is the further and faster it's racing away from the heat and reflectivity of the sun. Take advantage of any clear skies you can or else you could regret it. Good luck!
You're hilarious!! I was cracking up about the subscribe for the clouds to clear. Huge congratulations!!! I'm so glad you got this. I'm with you... I can't wait to see how this comet will do when it gets further from the sun. Might be fainter but in darker skies, it might be amazing with longer exposures! I'm so looking forward to it!
Certainly a good tonic for you Alyn considering the impact of recent months. Hopefully this is a positive sign of a brighter future and you can get back out pursuing your career and passion once again
This is by far my favourite video on this, I can’t stop watching because it’s so spectacular, thank you for the brilliant footage and look forward to the future :) 🪐🚀
So many of us had the same experience you did this morning. My equipment is highly computerized and I had to wake up hit on and wait for the mount to slew. I picked up a small pair of opera glasses to locate some guide stars (extreme light pollution at my location) and the comet practically slapped me in the face. So bright! with a stunning twin tail appearance. My images show a ruddy brown and gold color around the bright nucleus but this may have been due to a nearby forest fire.
Thank you Alyn, I was planning on going out this morning, but we had cloud, tomorrow morning has a clear forecast. I'm getting quite excited now after seeing your photos.
I’ve been following you some time and want to say I greatly admire you. I like your enthusiasm and your ethics. The quote is marvelous, the sky is bringing together people and this comet is a gift. Amazing to think the ancient thought they were signs of bad omen. There was a comet in the sky when my first son was born and I used to watch it every night before turning in. This is less bright but three days ago I spotted it with binoculars and I was over the moon, just like you said. Looking forward to more of your inspirational videos. Clear skies.
Stunning images Alyn ✨☄️, I am waiting for some clear skies up here in the northeast of Scotland and because of a latitude it should be a bit higher in the sky but then we have brighter exposure of the night sky with the sun skipping the horizon to deal with lol. Bring on a weather window!
thank you Alyn.. Great experience and will be out today tj look for my spot to shoot this great event... I pray that people figure out that our mother earth is repairing herself from all the damage the careless humans have caused her. And see how blessed we are to experience NEOWISE AND ALL THE PLANETS THAT LINE UP FOR ALL TO SEE... I FEEL privileged***
I haven't felt so this hyped about one of your videos since the total solar eclipse one, this was very exciting! Thanks as always for these vlogs, they help a lot my motivation to keep pursuing astrophotography!
Loved your reaction when you realised you had captured it, you were like a bairn on Christmas morning finding out that the big present was the thing you had been desperate for all year.
Was looking for a daily or weekly vlogger to briefly tell me “what was up” this week and came across this vid. Not exactly what I was looking for but got me with your production skills. Nice work!
I'm not having any luck with the noctilucent clouds for the past 2 weeks, this is something else to keep my eyes out for. Love how happy you were in this vlog :-)

Yes!! Hale-Bopp was about as perfect as you can get... the quintessential comet horizontal in the sky for what seemed ages... I remember all the hype around Halley’s comet but it was a dud then Hale-Bopp completely made up for it. What I think is very cool about this one ( Neowise) is that it’s a twin-tailed comet... and also all the effort to see it makes it even more special. 💜

To take photos of Comet Neowise, I ended up taking about a 45 minute drive to a nearby lake in the Sierra foothills of the Central Valley of California. Unfortunately the best place for an unobstructed view of the NE was on the wrong side of the lake so I couldn’t get any water in the frame. I did get some nice foothill foreground and a few car lights in my images. I tried shooting 150mm with my Nikon D810 and stacked 20 exposures shot at 1600 iso. We had a fair amount of forest fire smoke haze but it kind of added to the color as well as softened the comet. Stars had slight streaks but acceptable. I also shot 400mm but though I got a decent image I find it boring without any foreground element. I settled on four “decent” images. Heading out again tomorrow morning and will try a 50mm lens as well as the 150-600mm and 35-150mm again. Alyn, I totally “get” your excitement at seeing the comet and being able to photograph it. I had the same reaction. Best of luck in your future night sky forays!
This is dope. I did the picture the morning of the 8th and feels awesome. I used the Canon 77D and the Tamron 150-600mm. Above any clouds, in the middle of nowhere - perfect wish location for every astronomer
Alyn’s infectious enthusiasm in this video got me out all those years ago to plan and shoot Neowise. He will be dearly missed 😢

Cracking shot Alyn. This Friday (10th) has clear skies in S. Wales so could be another all nighter!
Glad you're getting out and what a way to celebrate by watching a comet.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL !!!! Im in North Devon, going out later to get me a shot.

Impressive! I wasn't expecting nearly as much when you set out. This makes up for the one that broke up. Hope it lasts!
I had to click the sub button only because that is the best high pressure sell I've ever been subjected to! lol
Great photography, thanks for sharing!
Good grief Alyn, that was pretty special!
Fair play mate, got the shot!
I just got it this morning, after failing to find the right site yesterday. Feels good to get it captured.
