- A beautiful song performed by the great The Golden Gate Quartet from the compilation album "The Best of the Golden Gate Quartet" released in Germany by Columbia Records in the 70´s.
Brothers and Sisters, as it is written in the Book of Isaiah:
"Thus says The LORD: "In a time of favor I have answered you; in a day of salvation I have helped you; I will keep you and give you as a covenant to the people, to establish the land, to apportion the desolate heritages, saying to the prisoners, 'Come out,' to those who are in darkness, 'Appear.' They shall feed along the ways; on all bare heights shall be their pasture; they shall not hunger or thirst, neither scorching wind nor sun shall strike them, for He who has pity on them will lead them, and by springs of water will guide them. And I will make all my mountains a road, and my highways shall be raised up. Behold, these shall come from afar, and behold, these from the north and from the west, and these from the land of Syene."" (Isaiah 49:8-12)
Brothers, abounding in mercy is The LORD God of Hosts and the salvation by His hands is the true salvation. It is with Him in His land that we find peace by His law, His just decrees. Listen now my friend, I tell you that if man does not set his heart to fear God, to obey God and seek the love of God then truly he will stumble into wickedness, into the land of Nod where peace is not and lawlessness abounds, that each man seeks his own destruction. Beloved, we then are blessed to obey God and know what He wants of us and pray for all the things least and great that He has generously given us and will give us, His servants. And as servants are we then not worthy to be called slaves? The LORD is our master, our king, our Father and the ultimate authority in all matters of our lives because He is God of life and has power over all life. Thus we are slaves not of wickedness for sin but of righteousness for God Almighty the one and only Lord. And it was by Him who is mighty and powerful, glorious and honored, wise and bright, holy and above all who came to bring salvation to us and He is Our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ the Lamb of God slain yet standing who by His blood saves us and in His resurrection we have hopes of the day of our resurrection to the judgement of the sinners and of the saints. Brother, repent of sinfulness and be steadfast in faith to Our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ who is the Light of the world, Whoever follows Him will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light of life. Amen and amen.

Whenever I listen to this marvelous quartet I stop to consider what they had to endure at a time when black performers were often treated poorly. One can easily imagine them being denied service in some restaurants and stores. This whole era in movies and television sometimes looked past these indignities, pretending that everything in our country was just hunky-dory.

@@xandros8576 Their music is fantastic. The treatment that all black performers from this era endured is a mark of shame. Pretending it did not happen only makes discrimination seem like an irrelevant side note. For people who actually read (books) a new one "The Jazzmen" recounts the indignities that stars like Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong suffered because of their color.
