    Stuff we use:
CAMERA - This is the camera we have used to film 90+% of our interviews (over 200 interviews and counting) It continues to be our workhorse - amzn.to/2u66V1J
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
    AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

Years ago, Dr. Atchity was kind enough to provide me with a interview for Done Deal. He was approachable and helpful. His was one of my favorite interviews.

In the late 1980s my friend won a top student film award, his go-getter girlfriend “forced” him to write a mediocre thriller script which she then submitted to writing contests, won a minor award, used this to get an agent, who got the interest of a low-end LA producer - the film was made with my friend directing and with known actors. Despite that the film disappeared into video, we never pursued the connections and achievements made and in my opinion threw away an opportunity.

I love this! So encouraging. I'd love to hear more about his story. Even more, I'd love to work with him. How underestimated the older generation is when they have so much wisdom and experience to give. So inspired by his willingness to take chances and change directions in mid-life.

He's lying. In reality Hollywood will steal your ideas, like they did with me and with many other artists and authors

Sir I must thank you so very very much for solving a problem I was stuck with. I've watched 4 of your interviews so far and you've given me so much to ponder. I love to learn new things in many different fields, like science, art, music, and Bible studies, gardening, survival stuff, etc., and this craving has become an obsession. I want to understand people, life, and why I don't fit in with "normal" people who are not doing interesting things. I did try ALL my life and now I don't want to try anymore. LOL. So I'm intentionally going to look for interesting people now. I spend a lot of time involved in lots of different creative things, but mostly I love nature, away from the things of man. So I paint seascapes and wildlife here on the coast of NC. But I felt guilty of neglecting a social life with my church people I have nothing in common with except church. You have taught me that that is OK !!!! I'm almost 80 now and all I want to do with my remaining years is to finally do what makes me happy. I"m painting art down at the beach by the ocean and I'm deleriously happy, thanks to you. The guilt feelings are gone. I have several more creative projects like videos, and thanks to you already my head is swimming with ideas. I shall use your brilliant information about structuring a story to write my lectures for Bible studies. :) Hugs! Thanks you. See me smiling?

I used to work in Hollywood and it’s very difficult to remain working in and build up credentials so you have a respectable resume because film and TV projects are “project based only” - meaning the job ends after 3 months or 3 years, then you’re out of a job again and most jobs are freelance. It is especially difficult if you are a female, because the whole industry is still today, male dominant, where most jobs get hired by men. I had a terrible time trying to get consistent work. Eventually, I got frustrated and ended up getting a full-time job at Warner Brothers (only to get laid off due to the writers strike!!). You have to have A LOT of connections and that’s not easy to do. I had some but not enough. And who supports each other? The men. In my opinion, the 1990s was the best time to work in the industry, everybody made their money. People say “go after your dreams.” sure, much easier said than done! Going after your dreams requires having a lot of money and the right connections.

Seems like the hardest part of being on the business so long is you lack ideas and get desperate and need to steal ideas. Protect yourself.

Barry has a scene (new tv show on HBO) that is so true. The agent would only represent the actress if she slept with him. That’s how many people have to still break into Hollywood.

I think he just met with producer(s) so then a contractual agreement was formed to produce films. Of course, he had prior literary and somewhat knowledge of the industry, because of his past professional credentials as a professor of romance literature. So that helped establish his credibility, so producers could green light his proposals. I think the reading and understanding of contracts is the foundation of getting the screenplays channeled into the proper distribution networks and how the project would be made. For example, once a movie is sold, will it go to theater, Netflix, DVD, publishing, etc. The Producer(s) who bankrolls the project has control of these contracts because they are the ones spending and distributing the money.

You are correct. Our time was limited and there were gardeners working outside. We had to move forward with the interview. There are times during this interview when the gardeners can be heard louder than other times. We do our best to remove background noises and hums during post.

Film Courage oh, that makes more sense. I appreciate the reply & thank you for the consistent quality content! I was mildly concerned you were going to start putting eerie music in the background. But thats totally understandable. Thank you

you put out a call to the romance novlemcommunity?
so what is the phone number of the romance novel community?
hollywood is making a lot of modest flops. franchises and major people seem to be acheing for my help.. but i cant write untill i am paied. they rewrote my first script..600MM amd stole my second script 1000MM.. i have three more.. but nobody wants to play ball. so, star wars died.. men in black dipped..
there was jurasic world.. and trumbo, which didnt earn much..
so if you want a movie you have to watch batman with superman with ironman...
its basically characters that already have a story.

Okay around 7:45 did he just say he manufactured a script for fox over a weekend by putting out a call to the romatic comedy community to get ideas. That's some lazy ass greedy shit.

    • @firstlast-oo1he
      @firstlast-oo1he 3 года назад

That's not greedy. He asked for ideas, and got them. Free of charge. Ideas themselves aren't worth jack shit by themselves, though. Don't get precious. Execution of the idea is super underrated.
