    The system's responsiveness is impressive. The application launch speed is phenomenal compared to modern versions of Windows (my subjective opinion).

    There should still be such a Uniata driver for Win9x, but it's amazing how you managed it 😄😁

      Good point! I will make another video.... Anyways, remember that NT 4 is working in single core mode. Windows 2K can see all the cores.

      @@O_mores NT4 could work with dual processor too, I used them with dual P III. More CPUs were avaiable only in server installation. Win2k had similar restrictions, so you would not see all CPU cores on standard workstation installation.

    Can you tell me how you did? I would like to install NT on my Pentium 4 but i got errors

  • @bvazquez90

    I've been having great struggles trying to run this on my H410 motherboard..
    I do not have one of those bootable VIA PCI cards that you have showcased in this video and others, so I tried to make an installation on a virtual machine, attempt to install UniATA for next boot, clone the vhd onto a physical hard drive and try and boot with the drive ultimately connected to the motherboard.
    This worked when I made my Windows 2000 installation, but for NT 4.. even after making sure I did everything right as instructed from Alter's guide online, I have had no luck.
    I even tried installing from MS DOS, with the I386 folder copied onto the drive. Prior to preparing the MS-DOS installation I attempted to slipstream the UniATA driver. A message appears stating it cannot find 'uniata.sys', the very driver I attempted to slipstream, before the installation even begins.
    Any suggestions on what else I could do, or is it one of those situations where a VIA storage controller card is absolutely needed?

    • @O_mores
      @O_mores  2 месяца назад

      When you get the message with cannot find "xxxxfile.sys" you can manually copy the file into temporary installation folders (those starting with $BT/$LS) and you won't get that message when you restart the installation. With uniata.sys - even if you bypass this message - this does not guarantee that your drive can be initialized. Most likely you will get 0x07B. From my experience, during setup UniATA works only with known controllers. For example UNIATA will recognize my VIA 6421 PCI to SATA because the ID hardware is already embedded in the driver. But won't work with an unknow SATA controller, like the one I have on my H610 motherboard. In this case the solution is to install UniATA while Windows NT4 is installed and running. It worked for me. If you want, I can give my NT4 folder with UniATA already installed.

    I am a total noob, but I need to get a Matrox Corona Frame Grabber PCI card running again in a Windows NT PC. Together with 2COM ports that would be all I need to run some old Machine. Was it really that straightforward as it looks in your video to install Windows NT?

    • @O_mores
      @O_mores  9 месяцев назад +1

      For this video I used a preinstalled copy of Windows NT which is running on my Ryzen 3900X main PC. Initially, this was a fresh install which I made about 2 years ago and already contained the UniATA drivers for the on board SATA. This is how I got it running on the Intel 13th gen platform... You can start installing Windows NT and if you can't pass the disk drivers issue - I can make you a copy of the same Windows NT4 files that I used: WINNT folder/Program Files and all files in the root. You have have to copy them to the C drive and Windows NT will start right away.

    what about ASUS Pro H610M-CT D4, will this board work the same? I can't find out what the T stands for.

    • @O_mores
      @O_mores  10 месяцев назад

      It should make no difference. I did take a good look at both boards and that T must be for USB 3.1 gen 2, that's the only difference between these two mobos. You get cyan colored USB ports in the back instead of blue ones, and of course some extra speed.
