  • These was originally two commercials that were aired about 40 minutes apart. The first is obviously a setup for the 2nd. I spliced the two together in this clip.
Additionally, I spliced on a segment of the Survivor: Borneo Reunion show where Reebok used some of their sponsorship dollars/time to have these two actors blatantly mug for the camera for 10 seconds. I'm not sure how this was a good use of their ad dollars.
These ads with these two showing poor outdoors skills was initially just a co-market with FinishLine. You can see one of the earlier commercials on here also. After Survivor took off like a rocket, Reebok hastily adapted the commercials to tie in with Survivor, culminating with this commercial with B.B Andersen (the 2nd Survivor voted off) appearing out of the bushes. Survivor 1 was such an event in the US that even the survivors who didn't win or even come close had a bit of stardom. Viewers remembered B.B. for telling everyone else how to do things and so that's what he does in this commercial.
The characters or perhaps actors are identified in the reunion clip as Don Lee and Jake Safford. It is unclear if these are character names or the names of the actors themselves.
For the record, this ad is trying to sell you shoes.
These spots aired on CBS during the finale episode of Survivor: Borneo (season 1) on August 23, 2000 near the beginning and the end of the hour. The extra segment is a section of the reunion episode of Survivor: Borneo (season 1) which was a lead in to a commercial break.
