  • Leslie Sarony with one of his most popular recordings.
    Leslie born in 1897 he fought in WW1 being awarded the Silver War Badge (honourable discharge due to wounds or sickness during military service)
    After the war he appeared in revues, musicals and variety theatre, one of his last appearances was as one of the mutineers in Monty Pythons short film 'The Crimson Permanent Assurance' in 1983, he died in 1988.
    Imperial records were founded in 1920 and lasted 14 years until the formation of the Rex record label.
