    How can you put the additional exponential function inside the summation symbol...,?
    if it was to be multiplied then it would be outside the summation symbol...

      Use the distribution properties. For example:
      if x = a + b + c
      then
      kx = k (a + b + c) = ka + kb + kc

    Its only a rote memorisation presented on board . The lady has no personal interest in the topic itself. I bet she doesn't even know why fourier series were made .....
    Atleast understand the reasons behind each step ,which you are performing only by learning the proof.
