"Decus et tutamen" - An ornament and a safeguard. This wording appears all the way back to the edge lettering on Crown coins back to the 1870's. I've bought a Tube of the Type 1. Will buy a Tube of Type 2's as well. Just like ASE's, I aim to sell them as matching sets when I cash out.
LOL Your as bad as I am with sets. Lol.
Thank you gor the translation, I forgot to write it down on my notes for the video. But I was not aware it dated to the late 1800's
It will be nice to have the last Elizabeth ll 2023, and the 1st Charles lll 2023, Britannia's as a set.
I agree, and I can then possibly make a custom box with all the years. Will be a fun date run challenge
I don't usually buy numismatics or collectors pieces unless they're on sale, and am usually of the opinion that "silver is silver". But, I will be picking up a few of these as well as the types 2's and keeping one of each in my perma-stack.
I think a lot of people are doing the same. I admit I have bought more than I would have normally.
.......it is super simple to remove milk spots on silver bullion.
It is nit should not be required on new bullion.
But yes very straightforward
Thanks for posting this. I really was hoping they kept the wavy background on the 2023 coins and I'm relived they did.
I am as well. I am interested to know what the King Charles coin will look like.
@@AceBullion Now that you mentioned it, I am too. 🤔
@@AceBullion There are new UC 50p coins with the King Charles lll effigy - I suspect the flips of the new Britannias will be the same..
@J 1 I seen it, but I am not sure. It might be similar
@@AceBullion agreed.
Very informative video, jonrms. Those security features are brilliantly, and very subtly implemented.
Those security features are also extremely hard to fake. I have a case full of fakes. Most Perth Mint varieties. Scary that we need to implement them. But also a great way to quickly help identify a fake should you be without a magnet and or scales or XRF. Thank you very much for your support. I thank you very much.
I just bought a 1 oz platinum Britannia and there were scratches and marks on the Queen's neck and face. And the trident/padlock hologram doesn't work. I can only see a trident. Couldn't be more unhappy with this coin.
Where did you buy it? Please say the Royal Mint. Because you should return it claiming security broken.
@@AceBullion I live in Canada so bought it through TD Bank. I am going to make every effort to return it and trade it for a 1 oz platinum Maple. Now that is a gorgeous coin !!!
@micheleemcdaniel389 good call. 👍 good luck and keep me posted I hope it works out for you
got mine arrived today from silver trader
Awesome 👌 It will be fun collecting all the previous year's of the Queens Britannia in my opinion
The Royal Mint never fail to disappoint with the treatment of their coins. Do they not care or have they ever cared about Her Majesty. Year after year, release after release the same issues prevail. Very tragic. Cheers for the video and once again I will not be purchasing a Royal Mint coin.
You're welcome. It is a shame because occasionally they do a coin correctly, but never trust a proof 😉 for quality by them either.
Great information Jonrms thank you x
My pleasure 💜💙💜💙💜💙
@@AceBullion Lou loved the Canadian coin so thank you again x
@@squirrellingcoins5483 I was scratching my head.. because this is a Britannia. But the penny dropped. AWWW happy Birthday Lou 💙💜💙💜💙🤐💙
@@AceBullion 🤣 sorry x
@@squirrellingcoins5483 🤣🤣🤣🤜
Nice coin, but the edges are always a bit rough. They always snag my white gloves.
They really are harsh bud. I need to get myself a pair of new white gloves... Big hands.. any recommendations on where to buy a good quality pair that don't look like swiss cheese after I wear them?
is there something on the coin that tells you it's a britannia minted by a US mint vs. the british mint? I haven't been able to find any info on silver britannia's being made by a US mint.
No, bit the quality is far superior due to the US Mint cleaning agents. There will not be a W or S like most American coins, because they must use the same dies as per the Royal contract.
@@AceBullion very strange! Do you have any documentation that says anything about this? Do any other mints do that for any other mints or is it just usa/Britain?
@axel hoogland 1) ask any main dealer. They will confirm the US mints Silver Britannias. 2) Yes some gold sovereigns are minted elsewhere. Perth Mint do NOT mint everything in house. Apmex uses various mints to make products. But again yes the USA does mint GBP Silver Britannias. 😎
Doesn't look like I'll be getting 25 of these then like I normally do every year. I wonder what they'll be replacing them with or do you think they'll be the same only with the King on them?
I think you should be able to get a tube still bud. But I would hurry. They are being released now. And are on the Silver Traders website. I think that we will see a new design front and rear.
@@AceBullion only trouble is I buy the 25 bit by bit over many weeks, usually two a week until I have all 25, I do it like that because I'm paid weekly.
@@COL-1 that makes sense. I still feel you might be able to get them if you start sooner than later And if not you will know they were a huge success that could sell later if you felt like it. 🧐👍👍👍👍
… so the only fact is : just the milkspots sustained! Not the crown. It must be an original britannia 😃😃😃👍
Milk spots are found in the silver produced by the Royal Mint in the UK. However the Mint in the USA that also is licenced to make them does not milk up. And this is the last of the Britannia's that will feature the former Queen. If your collecting them you will see a rise in prices for sure. But the mintage is still yet to be released. The mint listed that they are limited . Hope you enjoyed.
Can someone buy the coin directly from the US mint?
You should be able to buy this coin from any major bullion dealer
@@AceBullion thanks a lot!!
I am not aware of the main dealers...if possible, what are the main names?
I just wanted the coin because it is really good looking with nice detail and after watching your video I understand a US minted is far better than the royal mint.
Decus Et Tutamen is Latin meaning God by my side
Thank you
An ornament and a safeguard.
2023 coin but shows QEII who died in 2022. Looks like the mint is offloading old stock.
In the UK Silver bullion will cost you 20% Vat so not a good buy. that 20% covers imports as well.
🤣🤣🤣 Funny.
20% VAT is our every day life.
It’s bullion , i really dont care….1oz silver is 1oz of silver….
True.
Horrible coins just like the royals.
Ww all have our opinions. The Royal family never bothered me.
@@AceBullion they bothered my ancestors and yours
@@LEBOBSKI25 A lot of people did nasty stuff back in the day. no point holding grudges over it.
"The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there". This is a famous quotation which some people nowadays don't seem to understand.
